Day9 is the first streamer on Twitch to have a sub button and the first streamer to have a 100 month sub running. Lovely guy too, very funny.
Day[9] would never say anything bad about your mom. and she'd probably love him.
His id number is literally 2 on Twitch
He has the longest sub streaks as well, you'll commonly hear him say "happy 155 months, so-and-so" to his diehard subs, its pretty funny.
I love day9 hes wonderful
He is SO underrated. He is funny as fuck!
Hurts me on a personal level that people don't know Day9 was one of the founders of video game streaming even before Twitch was a thing.
day9 is LITERALLY the god father of all streamers. He is legit the longest streamer of all time.
his twitch id is number 2 or somehting if im not mistaken
@@BrotherFox2 correct
@BrotherFox2 yup. No idea who was 1. Probably the site creator.
@@therabbits69 TestAdmin
Imagine being the first streamer and still unknown
Day9 is known enough to blizzard that they have 100% seen this. I really hope they use this as feedback and improve the new player experiance.
I think blizzard made an official response about how they need to be better at tutorials. They didn't specifically mention day 9 but they did respond.
His mum used to work at blizzard so yeah, definitely they know him!
@@yautjacetanu I don't think his Mom worked for blizzard, they didn't even live in California
@@Thalarion yeah, she did work for blizzard. Her last role there was senior program manager - she worked in the esports space for them. Cara LaForge
I think it's irrelevant, as they already said at BlizzCon, that they have a new "New Player EXP." for TWW.
It will still start off on Exile's Reach with you as a new Recruit not renowned for anything but surving the Island.
Instead of BfA, which is rightfully confusing with all the Lore-dump, they'll keep you as a member of the Expedition, the "Dragonscale Expedition", and sent you off to recruit the Fellows to sail to Dragon Isles with.
It's a Lore-Neutral, easy to digest Content.
You even have the Follower-Dungeons with the Members of your Expedition like Cpt. Garrick.
At Level 15 you'll get Dragonriding/Dynamic Flight and at the End of the Campaign, when you hit Level 70, you'll be crowned "Champion of the Dragonflights".
Which, I think, is there to make it plausible for other NPCs to be calling you "Champion" on other Content.
There are almost no "Main-Characters" from the Lore present, except the Dragons. And you'll get to know them one by one throughout the Campaign.
You'll get introduced to a bunch of Races from all over the World and I'd say it's probably the smoothest Experience you can have, esp. with all the Quest-Changes coming in with Warbands.
They also said in a recent Interview, that they're working on a way to present OLD-Lore to NEW-People without 90min Movies.
(I think they're trying to implement Taliesin's Idea of a "Path of the Curator" where you can choose a "guided" campaign through Old Expansions that'll exactly level you from Level 10 - Pre-Max.. Like for example you ding 70 when you kill the Lich King, or turn in a Quest after doing so, so the Expansions Story is completed whilst you leveled up.)
@@Dahvood that's awesome, didn't know that bit of lore
I used to watch Day9 not even to see any SC2, but just listening to all his stories is a surreal experience
he still does "story time" segments, it's amazing. Check out his channel for a recent one about how his cat is broken, haha
@@vos_is_boss7623 that‘s amazing! Good to know that one of the greatest story tellers of our time is still going strong
Playing retail with no context is like being dumped into a Season 3 episode of Game of Thrones in the middle of a scene between Tywin and Tirion and you’re just desperately trying to understand what the freak is happening.
And it's not even easier if you got to Dragonflight, because the game throws a shitload of both .0 patch quests at you, then ALSO.1. and .2 quests in a giant cacophony and a new player that joins at the midway or end of a xpac would have no fucking clue in which order to do them.
That's not true. There's not a WoW character left alive that has as much screen presence as Peter Dinklage and Charles Dance!
It's worse, honestly - a scene between Tywin and Tyrion at least is exactly two people in a very clearly tense conversation; you may lack context as to why they don't get along or what they're talking about, but the premise is simple. Going from Tutorial Island to Battle For Azeroth is like dumping you into the Battle of the Bastards - who the hell knows who anyone is, what's happening, or why the stakes are so high, but you're juggling dozens of characters and you have no idea who is even vaguely-important to follow.
Streamers/content creators not knowing who day9 is feels kinda disrespectful.
he's been the host of the PC gaming show for awhile now, too. It's a little stunning when people are like "who this guy"
Day9 is the fucking best, met him a few times in person, absolute KING. Once stayed up meeting fans at an SC2 tournament until 2AM
Not knowing who Day9 is in the streaming space is like not knowing the first president of the United States.
I guess Day9 was the one who initially threw out the idea during JustinTv to add the sub button that is now on twitch.
well, his streaming id IS: "2"
This man is a treasure that needs to be protected.
Day9 is the absolute OG of streaming and CZcams gaming in general. Pay some respect bru!
for context it was at least an hour and a half into his second vod for retail when it gets to the part where he gets to play.
vanilla did it better where you got context by doing quests one at a time (quests where you actually play), and looking around at how your faction lives. wow needs to slow down and give more passive info too.
Listening to day9 explain t he retail tutorial gives the same energy as the "Worgen Deathknight timeline" meme from back in the day
19:24 this is legit the Deadpool moment when Cable is yammering on & DP is begging you to skip the speech.
Its great seeing someone introduced to day9 this way. The man is absolutely hilarious, but also genuinely quite smart and knowledgeable about game design (though he can often be painfully unobservant when playing stuff blind).
Day9 is one of the OG like TotalBiscuit...
Let us commence battling for Azeroth brothers.
I think when you jump into a new game, you want to DO things, or as Sean put it, "play the game". They don't want all the lore and cutscenes, that's for when you're already invested. First, you must fight, only then do you care why. It's inverse to IRL.
Since RuneScape came up in the video, that's one of the things that's really great about OSRS that more MMOs need to take note of. It gives you a quick rundown of how to play and what things mean with very little dialogue, and then just drops you into the game and lets you play it. You can go where you want, do what you want, and the super early quests are very light on lore and treat you like you're just some random dude, because that's what you are.
''Finally, some action'' 🤣
That's one of the things I wish WoW would take from SWTOR, everything being voice acted. I think SWTOR still remains the most voice acted game of all time.
I just finished Preach react and now can’t wait to watch this. Day9 is a great guy and this video is PERFECT to show a lot of problems WoW has when trying to over push story at the cost of gameplay.
think I am copying you. I am here after preach too ^^ - just late to the shows
Day 9 is a fantastic person. I watched him a lot when i played starcraft 2. Hes been around for a long time and i trust his gaming judgment.
Day9 is great, his philosophy on game design is solid. His Amnesia playthrough is one of the best and the jokes he comes up with is gold. I also recommend watching any of his highlights of older games like Command and Conquer Generals. "I got your missile launcher right here." It's people like Day9 and Maximilian who has paved a way for a lot streamers and content creators.
"Slick, thick, solid and tight." 😂
The problem with the reading in WoW is that all the juiciest lore is hidden away and all the surface level quest text exposed to the beginning player is a benign snoozefest.
Day9 is just so good at expressing his thoughts, and keeping a red line through his thinking
You know in hindsight. It's crazy they set them up with bfa as a new player. Not sure why they couldn't have kept with Cata since the old world is where everyone started and is a part of cata leveling as well. At least they would have a better understanding without being confused every five seconds.
cant have players play the old guard content, Legion is borderline already for the new blood wanting to one up what the original designers and Legion did as a fitting new start by the old team.
BFA is their postermainlovebrain child, to them BFA is when wow begins, there is nothing before it.
"this is from a guy named... nine day... day nine tv"
i almost died
I started in Bfa during the lockdown. This was pretty much my experience. Even without the starting island. Although I must admit - the starter island probably makes things even more complicated lore wise for a new player.
seen this day9 video 3 times and this is the best reaction by far 😂
11:58 at this point you can think back to when you first entered a city & have no idea what people were saying. Never did figure what DM ment Dire Maul or Dead Mines. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DM is Deadmines while DM West, East or North is Dire Maul 😊
Day9 is the very best hearthstone guy i used to love watching when i enjoyed hearthstone content, this guy gave me the exact same reaction lastnight when iw as watching his video, i think i developed a 6pac from the amount of time i spent laughing
Gods this was great. That man must be protected at all costs. I will admit; his whole first player experience does bring out something that has bothered me very recently with WoW. The game is not very new player friendly. It's perfectly fine for continuing and returning players, but oh boy; poor new players.
This is a problem to any newcomer in WOW, they have no idea where they are or who anyone is. I think there needs to be a tailor made new experience for any first character that introduces some of the basic lore, world and characters, for both the horde or alliance side. Like five or six zones chosen from the old world that levels you up to near the max. Cause the lore is so huge and not only confined to this game that if they try to tell it all, its not gonna work. And people who know it, at some point they are gonna be retired or too old to continue otherwise, so the game needs new players. Youre not gonna get it with this or with something like in FF14 where you play the past expansions.
After that alts can experience any past expansion via Chromie time if they wish(and let them experience it without transporting them to the capital once they hit almost the max).
Your reaction to this video is most of my reactions to sean's content. Love that man
'People are just trusting me with information and handing me guns to shoot stuff' Holllly shit i'm dying.
Day9s highlight videos are definetly always worth a watch.
I love the way Expansion storylines are introduced now, but i find myself wondering if that's because i already know the world and can get the enormity of events like Jaina coming home or the push into alternate Draenor. To a new player it probably doesnt have the same impact.
This was hilarious and what makes it so much more amusing is thats all REAL! lmao
13:00 I spent entirely too long looking at the toolbar at the bottom Left hand of the screen, thinking it is a picture of goatsee.
Turns out it just a horse...but i can't unsee it.😑
This is like entering a whole different job that doesn't need any education but still require a lot of experience and knowledge, with naming for things you've never heard of, and the manager is all like:
"Yeah so you can go with Robert here and he'll show the crankage on the driverthrill so you can thrill out the papers that if they're half wet is okay but if it's more than 10%, which you can see with this blueage here that it's not done, but if it's just moist with slight blueage and a dried upper piece you should likely ask Robert cause I've no idea either what you do then. Anyway, you're fully payed so I expect you to give 100% and watch what Robert and then honk the rest of the day, but be careful we had a guy ruin the whole HGT for a week doing it wrong."
Quite specific, probably cause I've been the poor sod sent to Robert and entering WoW retail I imagine is similar to a whole job industry you've never touched, but got so much history, words for things and experiences that got to where they are now and you're just there, having to catch up on decades of what, why and how in a few days.
Other workplaces eases you in better, WoW retail definitely isn't the one, and what veterans think is simplifying is more "Lets ignore the first books of the LotR and start you at the end of the second book, that'll catch you up to the rest quicker. But lets also introduce a new line of characters that can ease you in but will be irrelevant to the main books."
Imagine starting from the horde side and running away from jaina in stormwind after another jailbreak with no idea what is happening
He was the first person to get a sub button on Twitch.
I don't care how bad a day, how much I hurt, I see Pyro and my day gets so much better. And OMG, when you laugh, you've got me laughing. Endorphins are good, laughing is good. And I know how that guy feels and I've played since 08. Every time we get a new expansion, I spend at least 2 weeks swearing I'm going to quit because I'm lost as hell and dying (which is the worst thing in the world). And this points up the need for the something I've been thinking of writing, an ultimate granny's guide to WTF is WoW. I've been the lost, I've been the one dragging the lost back to the safe zone and telling them what left turn put them into the fire. Oh, and a quick and dirty guide to "who is who and what the heck is BfA?" But, then again, i was a technical writer before writing novels so there's a bit of experience with it.
But Pyro, you crack me up so much, thank you!!
20:00 ya no skips & I was already playing all class as DPS so ya THIS & you MUST do the beach head quests to get OFF island every single time.
"From a guy named..." Oh no..... my poor boy... look what they've done to him.
Love Day9. Man is a legend.
As a 2005 player and all the way up to Dragonflight, I tried making a new character, but I just gave up because I got way too confused by the new leveling experience, so I ended up boosting, iirc... (I might have gone back to a higher level character, or spam dungeons).
HOW can you not know who Day9 is :O
I swear. Day9 charisma is 11/10
Too bad he didn’t start this series when war within started where the new player experience is dragonflight
I think what someone said around 22:47 is exactly right, the reason this game feels so off and can’t ever hit home immersion wise is because it treats you like a hero now. Classic I just feel part of the world
Now I’m just hoping we also get a reaction to the J1mmy video that was mentioned, because watching pyro react to this was hilarious.
It's always nice to see someone finding Day9 for the first time and just realising how utterly hilarious the man is.
pretty sure moving forward into TWW, the tutorial goes right into dragonflight, so kind of a full blank slate given they rarely if at all mention any shadowlands events
this is kinda off topic but it gets there- this is why I was kinda upset when they changed the starter clothes to those busted ugly new ones bc to me it meant that they were doubling down on such a hideous new character experience like no type of race or class personalization just the same things everywhere and it's ugly and busted
"taped me to a helicopter" lmao
no context WoW must be magical. 🤣
Its so wholesome seeing Pyro laugh this much.
I swear i laughed so much after watching his video. Dude decided to play the 10th expansion with no context :P it's just hilarious. he's lucky he didn't come across the Warchief convention
Yo Pyro, your laughter is infectious. Love ypur content, bro.
I remember starting in cata Gnome starting zone was the best memories i have of wow. So good. Also the zombies there used to be scary coz they wore hard if you pulled a lot.
I've watched a few reactions to this. Do you think the solution would be to force progression through the expansions in release order by default? Maybe also include a setting to disable the restriction. That way new players will be spared this experience of getting thrown into stuff they don't understand. I also think Exile's Reach isn't good for new players, both for the reasons mentioned by Day9, and also because it disconnects you from your character's racial identity, and an understanding of where your race is situated in the world. I think the traditional starter zones do a great job of gradually introducing players to the world.
I think the dialogues and those lore moments like the meeting with Cyrus etc. werent the issue. The issue is Day9 as a new player had no introduction to them or time to invest in them to care. Unlike the classic introductory exp where u are thrown to the world and allowed to explore.
How it took this long for Sean to play WOW is so weird, like he competed in so many Starcraft and Hearthstone tournaments. There is no studio out there if I love one of their games, I'm going to at least try them all out even if they are train wrecks.
Day9 pc gaming legend
Fun thought about the alliance having longer introduction than horde players.
Horde players probably are more likely to drop quests or quit the game conpletely for a while if there is to much talking in the quests would be my guess.
I love that Day9's humor seems to have hit the spot perfectly for Pyro, that's hilarious.
Day9 is a certified OG. The man has probably been around longer than most people have been alive today lol
Dude it's great when the weed hits you like that!
Day9 put into words what I've been feeling for retail for years now.
Day9 is such a legend
I played retail for about a week before my classic sub ran out and combat was very ebjoyable, but i havent played since cata and running around wherever i was felt like being assaulted by clowns throwing banana creme pie in a house of mirrors. Its hard to see what im doing, i dont know where im going, and theres a lot of weirdly dressed people around me.
Did y’all catch what pyro said at 3:30 in the video.?
It makes it even better knowing he was super involved with Hearthstone for a while so hes absolutely familiar with at least SOME of what he's encountering. However as someone who hopped back into DF after a decade of not playing, I empathize so hard with this rant.
Never seen your channel before, This was the first thing I''ve saw from you. Watching others like Asmon and Guzu react to it, Then seeing your reaction was probably my favourite. I sat here cry laughing for like 5 minutes straight. Def watchin more vids from you good shit man XD.
Life as an RTS player learning MMORPG and FPS games. I feel his pain.
Day9 is the twitch OG, he's probably one of the longest running communities on the site. this vid had me crying laughing
this video is absolute gold.
Day9 is absolutely legendary
Lucky for you that you found Day9.
If you don't know about Day9 (Sean Plott), you're not allowed to call yourself a gamer.
It's a set-in-stone rule.
Yeah I felt pretty validated too, when I first saw this. XD
Blizzard should do what they did for SC2 as far as a story/lore recap. In SC2 they added an option to watch and listen to a video that explained the major events from SC1 up to whatever SC2 expansion u were currently playing. So if u wanted a recap up to the start of Heart of the Swarm for example u could get a recap up untill that point anytime u wanted. I´m perfectly aware that wow has alot more important story segments to go through then StarCraft. But at this point a video like that is the only choice a new player has of getting a decent story recap unless they wanna watch +20hours of story made youtube videos. Jaina has a story video just short of 2h and thats just 1 character and the video is 5 years old. Alot of that is ofc not important to know but a new player that wanna know her story but dont wanna be a complete Lore master has no ide what part of her story is important information.
1 long video for all of wow is unrealistic as it would be way to long for most ppl to bother watching anyway, however splitting them up to 1 video for each expansion would be a much easier thing to do and i think that would realisticly be a good ide.
How in the absolute fuck do you stream a Blizzard game for a living and not know who day9 is?
Horde has skips because we smash now ask questions later.
My memory is bad, is this the same pyro that tried to sue someone for also having the name pyro but earlier than him? Just checking for verification
Does he know his in game mic is hot and anyone around him can hear him in game?
Stopped in WoD tried to restart wow quit after 3 days of Shadow Lands . People expecting you to had no break playing and know all the short cuts etc was great.
There's no way to fix this right? They have to just do wow 2 after last titan yeah?
did pyro say " n word wtf is this? " lmaooo 3:34 someone please clarify for me hahhaa
3:28
people may say that Day9 wsa hyperbolic AF ... but all he did was let THE GAME ALONE present him with the experience and tutorialisation and it is failing miserably.
some may say, it was wrong of him to start with classic if he was gonna play retail - it set the expectations wildly wrong....
yea, classic is a good GAME... retail is a mish mosh of trying to incentivise the player to play - not by making the gameplay fun but by making cutscenes and characters appealing.......
none of those are equal a game....
Why you gotta make us laugh the whole video and then make us cry with the outro music?
it was a bad call to have new players start in BFA by default, this guy would've had a better time leveling in that old starter area for alliance.
Maybe an AI can do the reading in the future. :)
on days when i feel like i have no brain i watch people reacting on people reacting because this is the peak of creating pointless internet trash for shallow and aimless people
too much fake laughing for me, when you laugh for real its super infectious and you have an amazing laugh, when you are doing a fake laugh, even one that hides the pain of modern day WoW, it makes me want to immediately switch to a new video. I have seen all of 2 of your videos, and when you are laughing I cannot help but laugh, but when you are doing any level of BS laugh its extremely obvious and not at all to par to your regular laugh. Enjoyed your take on things, and again your real laugh is beyond infectious. Keep making the vids, but from a new viewer perspective, stop the fake laughing, it does not add to the video.
The whole thing where Day9 is confused about what BFA means pretty much says one thing: Blizzard's dropped the ball so hard when it comes to the new player experience, and the veteran players are no better at providing context whatsoever for newbies either-and they're all just in their own little bubble where they know everything and can't fathom why a new player wouldn't know the things they know.
It's a vicious cycle where both the company and existing player-base is no help to each other and to new people coming in. Little wonder that hardly anybody of substance is even playing Retail anymore
hmm all I get from this is "to much info.. bad for my brain"
