    One of the best discussions on Oerthodox anthropology I have ever heard. As a teacher, I can't agree more with you about education disconnecting from the heart. Huge issue. Glory to Christ!

    Abba Maxym you should do more series like these!!
    This is amazing wisdom that all Christian’s desperately need to hear.
    Unfortunately the American church lacks these foundational teachings and as such suffers with a nous that’s not as it could be!
    Thanks again Father Maxym! Love From California

    Excellent. Now I have a better understanding of why spiritual life is so important. I have repeatedly listened to this video many times to take in information.

    Glory to God for all things. This is so timely in my life. My father reccemded this and low and behold in my past I suppressed my passions. The damage and self deception it caused was tremendous. God bless you all.

    Thank you for this series! Will you please explain further how we should educate children so they seek more of the nous and not the intellect?

    • @ChristTheSaviourOC
      @ChristTheSaviourOC  Před 4 lety +13

      The nous is located and illumined by prayer. We teach children that we need to pray in order to be wise. A wise person is more than someone with a developed intellect; a wise person needs to have a pure heart. We need to encourage our children to guard the purity of the heart, to learn the prayers of the Church, and to love Christ and know Him personally.

      Unless children grow up in a religious school, the prevailing norm is for them to observe phenomenon primarily through the intellect alone - hence the focus on STEM subjects in school and in our society leading potentially into danger unless they get it from social studies and English or other humanities. God help us. The concepts spoken of in this video should be made available to everyone regardless of their circumstances. If they are in a standard educational system we must take the other burden to educate them in the heart starting at home.

    How does the nous relate to the concept of consciousness? Is this virtually the same thing? Is the nous that which is conscious and experiences reality directly? Or how might you understand bare awareness or consciousness in relation to these Greek terms?

    • @Buford-kz7ky
      @Buford-kz7ky Před 2 lety +1

      I’ve always equated consciousness with the holistic person itself, not existing as a specific part as nous, intellect, etc.

    5:21 ,6:52, the soul of lost unregenerate man seeks for religion instead of a personal relationship with the living God.
