I had the honor of training under him for one day. Obviously I don't speak the language so it had to be translated by khabib but some things don't have to be spoken to be understood. He was a hard man but a fair man. He had a mischievous smile but a serious face. I was only around him for one day but I can honestly say that he was one of the greatest men I have ever met. He treated all his students like they were his son's and he gave his all to each and every one and expected the same in return. There will never be another one like him and he will be missed.

I've said this many times in other comments. We, people of the world, should be thankful to Abdulmanap, and people like him. I read somewhere that Abdulmanap was concerned, as there wasn't much to do in Dagestan, the youths in his area would be tempted to go on "adventures" in the battlefields of Chechnya, Afghanistan, and Bosnia. So he started training them for actual fighting competitions instead, so they'd have an outlet to channel their youthful energy.
Some foresight that was, as a lot of the "veterans" of those conflicts knew only war, so they joined alqaeda and later isis. Obviously I don't know how true that is but if you go look at Abdulmanap's record, look how many medals his students have won over the years. Imagine those actual warriors idolizing the wrong people.
Thank you Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov for your service to the world 🙏🏽. May God grant you your paradise. Amen. Al-fatihah.

This is one of the things modern parents often miss.
    We are not raising children.
We are raising, men and women, fathers and mothers, uncle's and aunts, teacher, coaches, business men, politicians, engineers, doctors, future elders and grand parents.
For this we need more than lessons and books, we need a philosophy and belief system that underpins conduct, decision making, relationships, the how we see the world around us. Khabib was fortunate to have this instilled in him, and we are fortunate to have witnessed how such philosophies can guide a young man through one of the hardest transitions a son can face.
Khabib is more of a champion now than he ever was as a fighter, and this is because the philosophy that his father instilled in him was meant to guide Khabib with or without the presence of his father.
Miss the man, but don't think for a second that he is gone. He is with Khabib and his family in all they do.

Good job Chael. Now you got me going. So much we could talk about here first I want to say what I've come to realize Khabib's team and family because they are the same is the most professional MMA team in the world. Now I'm talking as much as anything management.
Let me make this case through Islam. It wasn't until after the fight with Charles that it was evident what Islam is and what his level is compared to everyone else. He's levels above the next best fighters. I think he's going to have to go to 170 before long to seek challenge which is necessary for him and Khabib and team. So many elements went into 29-0 and it took all of them. Their fighting culture, the altitude they train at, starting as children, their style and technique and top-notch management the best in the world. And in addition to all that the humility to realize they needed to add some more so over they came to AKA for those finishing touches. Duplicating this for aspiring young fighters is going to be difficult but at least we should get over ourselves and acknowledge it and study it. All of that and learning along the way through experience how to create the career that was Khabib. Now imagine the guy right behind him benefiting from all that knowledge and principal and lessons learned who they say wrestles like Khabib and is a better striker with power in his hands, natural power. Getting to benefit from all that team learned a little sooner getting to grow up with it, grow up training with and sparring with Khabib. How many times have we said when the best stars in MMA fought Khabib and came up short you can't train for that you can't duplicate that in training. You can't duplicate Khabib in training. Well, my god Islam grew up sparring with that. Now do you see what he is? He's the best fighter in the UFC and there's something going on that's harder to see I believe. If Islam hadn't been brought into that gym to learn all they had to offer, much about how to properly live, he would've probably been a dangerous person and done bad things. It was all channeled. I don't think Islam feels fear like most normal people do because of how his brain is wired.
Yeah, Khabib's father was a great man and wow what he built. I think this is the future of MMA

the recipe is obvious. Khabib says it all the time. "Alhamdulillah" (All praises unto God), "God give me everything". After every fight Khabib fell to the ground in a prostration "sujud as shukr" (prostration of thanks/gratitude) to God. Recognizing that the odds of him achieving what he has compared to another guy down the street giving the same effort is a matter of inches and minutes to say the least. Khabib always points up with his right index finger - the finger used to point during prayer symbolizing that God alone is worthy of worship. by this he reminds himself of his internal submission to God and also reminds others that God is the greatest and his success is only by Gods will.

@@oulangkous718 His faith is a big part of it. The discipline the morals the clean living. How many fighters ruin themselves with alcohol or drugs? But it is also a lot of other things that goes into his life as a whole. One thing that messed with us in terms of properly understanding who Islam is, is the fact we will always compare him to Khabib and Khabib has a zero in his loss column and Islam has a 1. Did God fail Islam or did Islam fail God? I don't believe so. We may never see that again or Islam may have 50 fights and never lose again. His win streak would be 49 and 0. Perspective.

Thankyou Cheal for highlighting what a great Coach and man the late great Abdulmanap actually was. He was a remarkable man who the wider world never got to see, even though coach Javier who had champions in his AKA gym before the arrival of Khabib and when he met Khabib father and spent time with him even Coach Javier soon realised what a absolutely genius of a coach Abdulmanap was "Fathers plan" always spoken by Javier himself always.
As for the subject matter of many other UFC fighters not having that elite level warrior spirit ties in with the level of commentary in UFC with the likes of Joe Rogan with his hysterical commentary like "oh my goodness" BS ALWAYS and now embarrassingly DC is at it also, elite level fighters need elite level commentators not the joke commentary we get where the technical aspects of the ground game or the many different boxing combinations are never relayed to the audience but "OH MY GOODNESS" AND "HIS A BEAST" is forever thrown in the watching audiences faces need to get that clown Joe Rogan and DC off the commentary need proper commentary where the technical excellence of the fighters is expressed to the audience. How Joe Rogan has the pulling power he does sums up todays dumb as two planks society.

Too many casuals saying they pick and choose their fights. All I can see is them picking and choosing the toughest opponents and running through them like a train. This team will takeover the mma world in the next 2 years across every major promotion

One thing. Bruce lees skills were not garbage. Just like Jerry Wests basketball skills were not garbage. Jackie Robinson speed was not garbage. They were the beginnings that we’ve evolved from, but to say they were garbage, given there was no one that could be found to defeat them in their time, is to stand on their shoulders and call ourselves tall and not give credit to the people that created the mountain we walked up
