      All due respect to Teddy but he’s not known for his expertise in mma, I think, he was wrong in that case anyway. I don’t think Khabib made him change his fight, this simply seemed to be his plan, let Khabib chase him, and kick him when he closes the distance enough.
      He’s not downplaying Khabib, he says Justin didn’t do what he always does. I agree with him, his team was too focused on leg kicks and keeping Justin’s back away from the cage, by doing that he thought he’d be safe, but he wasn’t. He simply didn’t fight the way he fights, instead his team tried to reinvent the wheel the night of the fight.

      @MrPatspp Před 3 lety +60

      Finally someone who thinks. I saw the same, fighting at distance keeping the takedown defense only for emergency, not giving it away that easy. Additionally, Justin fought like this against Ferguson, going backwards and timing the shots. IDK why is everybody so surprised about Justin's strategy. He's not the same who fought Poirier or Alvarez.

      Additionally it doesn't make much sense for Gaethje to get expertise besides BJJ escapes and getting to the feet, which could be done (and I would have thought, he already should know). 7 Reasons Khabib's the GOAT:
    1. Most 10-8 rounds in UFC history. By far the most dominant fighter in the Octogon.
    2. It's debatable if he even lost a round in a golden era in the most stacked division.
    3. Has never been made to drop a single drop of blood in the Octogon or had a black eye.
    4. Never cheated with steroids (unlike Jones)
    5. Was promised a title shot by the UFC way back in 2016, was sent a contract in to fight Alvarez for the title in Sept 2016 but was used as a pawn in negotiations and the lightweight title shot was given to featherweight Mcgregor. Mcgregor beat Alvarez and held the belt hostage for 2 years without defending it, further delaying Khabib's rightful title shot.
    So had to win 10 straight fights (in the most stacked division) to finally get his title shot whereas GSP got it in 3 fights and Jones got it in 7. Yet he still managed to get in 3 title defences. (How many defences would he have if he got his title shot in 2016? 5-6).
    6. Was out for 2 years and came back from career threatening injuries without any ring rust and was still as dominant as ever. Dominated Michael Johnson with a 9 mm hernia in his spine. Fought Justin Gaethje with two broken toes.
    7. A true champion by being a good representation of the sport. Humble and hard working - the values of mixed martial arts. Didn't need to trash talk to sell fights
    Edited: Even GSP last night said that Khabib is the GOAT of 155 lb division.

    The "Champ-Champ" status has been so diluted to the point that I wouldn't even call it an era anymore. The past holders of two belts have never (men's divisions) constantly defended them simultaneously and it's usually just a one off super-fight, and that's it. The only exception to that is of course Amanda Nunes. So I think that isn't enough to discredit Khabib as the UFC GOAT, quite a weak point from Chael tbh. The LW division also doesn't have the "second GOAT" Chael keeps mentioning for Khabib to beat in order to attain GOAT status, which is another bizarre point Chael makes, since Khabib's dominance alone in his division (which is already now THE most stacked division in the UFC, and the most stacked the LW division has ever been) and the fact that he has *never* been defeated is something unbelievably unique to the sport of MMA and to the UFC, which is most definitely more than enough for Khabib to be rightfully crowned as the GOAT of the UFC.

      Has someone reminded Chael that lightweight is by far the most difficult and talent stacked division of all time, so in this case moving up or down weight classes meant taking easier fights, hence Khabib is the Only GOAT 🐐 because he the only undefeated guy in the UFC, and btw in the most talent stacked division of all time, he outdone all greats by far.

      I completely agree in terms of the sheer domination. I grew up on Anderson silva and in his prime he was amazing to me, then I got to see the rise of John Jones who has some of the most amazing all around skills there are. But now I just have to admit and respect what khabib has accomplished, every top fighter hes come up against he hasn't just beaten but absolutely destroyed. The man is a true example of being a master of his craft. The only thing I think khabib could do at this point that could further solidify his place in history is if he had went 30-0 with a final victory over tony, I honestly don't care or have a need to see him go to a different weight class, I just wanted that Tony fight😂

I Would have liked Tony vs khabib to try and get that 30-0 before retirement but on a human level his decision to stop when he is on top is commendable.
