The definition of “you had one job”....and they both executed their respective jobs respectively.
-It’s actually very difficult to play like this, think of a fat kid in a candy store on a diet. As a bassist, I hear that there is a ton of play room in this arrangement but it’s a smart move to lay back and let the keys and vocal shine.
It also helps when you’re used to playing with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi too....I didn’t realize it at first but bassist did a little stint in the touring version of Tedeschi Trucks Band, seen him at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with them, he’s killer live!

Right?! As a drummer, most of sessions and gigs I do are all about locking into the pocket, but god damn, with a groove like this, I’d be so tempted to busy it up or get weird with it. I’m so glad they didn’t though.
