Eisner at least cared about Disney and his legacy, and put a decent effort in preserving it? I miss the Sunday nights we’d gather around to watch him introduce the feature film or classic Disney animation on “The Wonderful World of Disney”. Such a magical time.

Do that and honor the guest like they use to do where they’d go out of their way to make magical moments rather than bleed people dry financially and you’d be pretty much set. I’d also suggest to put even more Walt maybe and Roy and the top imagineers I’d have a day or a week for them with free swag like little flyer poster things and pins maybe to commemorate them or just something books more posters expand the museum stuff something to honor the men Disney is built on.
And could do it on days where either like Mickey Mouse was introduced or the plans for Disney world were first introduced. I’d also definitely not touch figment as he’s Epcot’s mascot and I’d feature more of old Epcot in some way or make a museum for it or use that stuff somehow or even just reboot an entire center. And also return the fountain to the land probably. And maybe expand the health and nutrition education in the land and places like that to actually benefit people and give them chances to learn about that stuff a lot more and even give like free water bottles and fun gear that inspires people to be healthier. And I’d mostly axe bad food quality and somehow make really good quality clean food and water affordable.

I would argue it actually began long before Disney embraced woke ideology, back when Michael Eisner first became CEO. By his own admission, Eisner didn't see most of Disney's animated films until well into adulthood, and this, coupled with the fact that he was an outsider (like Iger), demonstrated that he had no understanding of Disney's history or legacy. One of his first acts as CEO was to remove the slogan "We create the finest in family entertainment" from employees' business cards. And several years in, he sent out a memo in which he said, "We have no obligation to make history. We have no obligation to make art. We have no obligation to make a statement. To make money is our only objective." (Of course, under Iger, both making money AND making a statement are their only objectives, but they still don't care about how good their content is). Yes, the Disney Renaissance happened under Eisner's leadership, but that was in spite of him, not because of him. And let's not forget that Iger was Eisner's handpicked successor as CEO after he was ousted in the second Save Disney campaign.

Spot on! After The Lion King, Disney has made one (maybe two or three) animated films I particularly like. Once Jeffrey Katzenberg and Frank Wells were no longer able to hold Eisner back from his worst instincts, the company steadily began going down the toilet. I was warning about Disney's decline as early as 2011 or 12, even before they openly embraced woke ideology.
I worked in IT for 30+ years and saw exactly this sort of thing happening from the late 90's onwards. 'EXPERIENCE' was no longer necessary... if you checked the right boxes. I'd get called into a company for a contract job to 'fix' the problems created by new senior staff (all women and/or minorities) with ZERO practical job experience. The second the problem was fixed, I'd be let go... because (due to corporate metrics) they couldn't keep a white male on-staff. Repeat this 3-5 more times, until I turned 50 and then became utterly unhirable.

This isn't news. Iger is a TV exec. From ABC, he could care less about Walt and Roy's legacy. In fact he HATES them and it. He only uses Walt for nostalgia and to get more money out of the pixie dusters! As bad as Eisner got (he saw himself as the next Disney and it was after Mr Wells died that he went wrong), at least he LOVED Walt and Roy, wanted to bring all the magic and greatness back to Disney, and for many years he did. The greatest resorts they have he oversaw, as was DCL and many great rides and attractions. I miss Roy Jr. , but basically, Iger is a coward and a snake. He waited until Roy died, after Stan Lee died, after they got rid of George Lucas, forced out Lasseter over him being a "hugger". to make all these changes. That's why all of this happened. They didn't have the guts to do it while those people were still around and had something to say about it.
The problem is that some people who wanted this woke stuff that said they what this or that to be gay or they said this or that is gay but it not . They thought that might make them or someone else happy. When it comes to the LGBT have a idea for what they want it to be and if it is they would like it and if it is not they would not be happy.

If I had to guess, it was probably for the money... There are a lot of Investment Firms that have agendas as well, and the business practices when creating expensive projects usually involve borrowing money... And sometimes, depending on how much is being borrowed, there might be strings attached... That is how the ESG/DEI system works for some of the big investment firms/banks and, sometimes, how they operate when lending and/or approving money for projects... Heads of most large corporations, it's their jobs to make money, for the company and sometimes for themselves... I would not doubt for one instant, that Bob Iger has a money parachute ready just in case... Sometimes many of these sorts of issues happening nowadays, originate from many fronts... Sadly, Disney has dug themselves into a hole, which they may never be able to recover from, unless they make drastic internal and external changes to how they operate internally and who they do business with... For now, they are caught in a whirlpool of their own creation...
I had hoped that I might one day return to Disneyland once Iger was gone, but he is destroying so many of Walt's attractions, there really is no reason to go back.
Yeah, this is what really disturbs me about this. How is it that the federal government has not decided to stick its nose into Disney’s hiring practices? And the better question is do y’all think that in the coming year when Trump is put back into office do you think that a more conservative equal opportunity board will decide to take a long hard look at Disney and other Hollywood Studios and see how they hire people and see if what they’re doing isconsidered racist. Grew up as a Disney kid. Got to go to Disneyland when I was 6 in 1962. Watched the wonderful World of Disney. My parents took us to all the movies. I think things started to change in the late 90's. Haven't been to a park since 2000. Today Disney is not the kind of company I wish to spend money with. It's truly a shame it was a great brand that stood for family entertainment but no more.

Looks like Disney just gutted their own culture and lost the magic. You see stuff like this happen very often in big corporation. If you have an two IT departments, one where the IT people just sit around and do nothing vs one where the IT people are working hard and fixing 100 tickets a day. The first one where they sit around doing nothing is actually the successful one because their systems never have problems. The second one is a complete clusterfuck, but the IT department generates positive metrics (they are so good at fixing stuff!) and rationalizes their own jobs and rationalizes further spending to hire more. Pretty soon, the support staff greatly outnumbers the people who actually make money and they push to keep expanding the support staff.
