I loved this thing on cassette in the 90s when I was a kid. Dirk Maggs certainly knows how to produce one hell of a full cast adaptation. Dude's still cranking them out decades later with The Sandman. Since I can't get comics in braille, I've always voraciously snapped this stuff up.
Fun fact: Most of the actors in this drama (and the BBC Spider-Man radio drama), did dubs for Manga Entertainment. One in particular, Bob Sessions (Batman/Bruce Wayne), is the dub voice of Violence Jack.
When I was a teenager I sent Dirk Maggs a fan letter and, like a trooper, he sent me a cassette of outtakes from Knightfall, the two Superman series and The Amazing Spider-Man. Wish I still had it, but the Knightfall goofs particularly stick in the mind. Bob Sessions certainly knew how to swear.
Thank you for uploading this. I had this on cassette as a kid and I listened to it so many times. I had only read bits and pieces of the Knightfall comics so this filled in a lot of gaps for me. When I read Batman comics I usually hear Kevin Conroy’s voice in my head… but every once in a while, especially if it’s a comic from this era, I can hear Bob Sessions 🙂
Sounds like this is a mp3 rip from the original 1994 cassette version, rather than the edited version they released on CD in 2012. Thank you very much for uploading this!
Iv got a huge collection of audiobook cassettes and am slowly recording them all to digital myself. So can definitely confirm this is the cassette version :)
Thanks for uploading this. We dove into Michael Gough's time as Alfred in these Dirk Maggs adaptations and included this video in our Show Notes Full Episode: czcams.com/video/GesP12CoZQo/video.html Show Notes: www.superherostuffpod.com/post/michael-gough-s-alfred-in-knightfall-inside-the-bbc-batman-audio-adventures-from-dirk-maggs
I know this production by heart, and I'm telling you it is pitched upwards slightly; the male voices, expecially Bob Sessions', exhibit far less masculinity than they should. If this could be corrected... well.
Glad I'm not the only one that noticed this. I used to have a copy of the original cassette from the 90s and the CD release and both sound lower pitched than this.

Have you heard the trial of Superman it's another audio adventure I think it's made by the same guys I'm not sure
@@thephoenixhasflown I'll certainly have to give that one a listen. Thanks.
Same! This thing was everything to me as a kid

I had a copy of this from the original cassette from the library in Brentwood Essex back in the early '90's.
Oh my god, thank you!!! I remember this being on radio 1 and had the cassette as a kid, I had goosebumps heating this again, loved this!!!
Great upload, thank you very much.
My recommendations to anyone listening should play it at 0.75 speed, helps to level out the talk speed.
This Channel is a hidden gem! Am really enjoying all this content!

Is that why there were parts missing from the other version I really wish they wouldn't do that.
@@thephoenixhasflown me too
I still have these tapes somewhere thanks for uploading them. my set is probably even in worse shape though I played the hell out of it.
Awesome batman thanks for sharing
This is incredible

thanks!
Amazing. Thank you
Soooo good !
this is so badass
I love this
SPOILER ALERT:
The breaking of Batman's back sounds like Bane actually folds him in half rather than crushing him over his knee...BRUTAL!!
Super
MICHAEL GOUGH!!!
This is mislabeled. This is not an audiobook (IE not an audio reading of the actual Knightfall novelization), this is the BBC-produced radio play.
I want it to be listened to by as many people as possible. I have the back end data and so many more people search for "audiobook" over "radioplay".
