- Ruhal Ahmed was detained without trial by the US government in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. He told us about the abuse and torture he experienced, and how he was eventually flown back to the UK in 2004 and released the next day without charges.

Incredible interview and a remarkable individual.
Mr. Ahmed's story was indeed extraordinary and humbling. I think that tells by how strong of a reaction he has gained with the audience. His tone and body language and story holds a mirror up to our society and makes us uncomfortable, as it should. I hope we hear more from Mr. Ahmed, we won't get access these kind of experiences very often. Wishing him continued strength and healing.

The wife part lost me at the end. During the interview he said he was single no attachments etc but when he was liberated he chose to make his first phone call to the wife - what wife? He also had a sollicitor? When did he have time to find a wife and a sollicitor and get married before ending up in that room? I'm sorry he was treated the way he was and there's a fair chance he may have been innocent but some things just don't add up, probably because he left out a lot of details and the interviewer failed to ask more specific questions.
It sounds to me like he just is no longer married, but yeah interviewer did not do a good job with that one.
He said he married his wife 20 days after he was released, and that she was here.... Meaning in the studio with them.
He also said he went to Pakistan for his friends wedding, then at the end when he got back to England describes how his dad was crying but angry at the same time “why did you go this and that”

I am Muslim and have the full truth being told here. May Allah maalf me if my instict is wrong. I do not hear these kids calling their parents on day one, so that they can be rescued. I hear being free to roam, so as a 17 year old, the first thing is to call my parents! Also, they said they slept into the mosque as they did not have much money and now there is payment money for transport deep into this country.

So i read a book called “The Exile” which was first hand accounts and stories from Taliban and Al Quaida relatives and everything this guy is saying is true except for the fact that he went their to help the Taliban fight the US , he was not swindled , there was no wedding, he knowingly went to fight. Also notice how through out his story at no point did he ever mention trying to call his parents. Any 17 year old that goes on any type of vacation, holiday, or just trips is always in constant communication with their parents. The first thing any 17 year old would have done had they been “Swindled” would have been to call THEIR PARENTS!! This dude is a liar and deserves what happend to him.

He says he visited Bangladesh but then refers to rallies in Pakistan to help the Afghan people... "We were talked into going" there was hundreds there was busses!!!

So he was RECRUITED in Pakistan so the reason for travel to Bangladesh wasn't for a visit at all.
I get why he says this story as they have had a significant payoff.
But it's obvious why these young lads went to Pakistan and it wasn't a wedding the timing is just too convenient

No there was when they were released they went back for the wedding which was supposed to happen so there gose that theory
I watched it from start to finish, not once did he mention he visited Bangladesh prior to Afghanistan, it was Pakistan, then they ended up going to Afghan to do charity work in October when America was bombing the shit out of afghans, many aid orgs were in the ground, the Tipton 3 wanted to play their part but little did they know Northern Alliance and America are already on the ground and taking everyone prisoner regardless if you’re innocent.
He gave alot af details about his shitting habits during this interview but forgot to mention big details like the home office talking to him on several occasions

Did he say he got married 20 days after his return to the U.K.? He should have been in the hospital, getting treated. And when he is talking about how his life is so busy he says 'This wife needs that, this wife needs that' with a weird smile which I think he means he has two wives which I found very weird. There are so many things does not add up. I am no expert but if someone was not allowed to walk over 2 years, I am sure it would take them months to walk properly again.

@ 3:50 to 4:18 He clearly states that there were rallies in Pakistan (where he was at that time) to support the Afghan people because "the war has kicked off." Then 5:07 to :5:20 as they get into Afghanistan from Pakistan he says he hears explosions and he said, "What's going on." and they said, "There is a war." He said, "Yeah I know there is a war." He 100% knew what he was doing. Go back and listen again.

This story has a lot of controversy. To be honest I don’t feel enough was explored about why he went Afghanistan. He was in trouble in the Uk then diverted from a bucks so easily to the Afghan conflict. To be honest as awful as the treatment was I feel like it was actually an amazing turning point for his life, which has given him a new path. No one should go through torture in anyway. I am glad that he can have a fresh start with his family and I hope that his empathy for those who have taken a different path does not deflect him from living a positive life for him and his family

Navigating the legal system vs what actually occurred is a very different story. It cannot be relied upon as the ultimate source of truth.

What a heart breaking story. This poor man was wrongly and illegally imprisoned and tortured. America talks about human rights when they are the biggest violators of human rights and they continue to support other countries like Israel who break human rights and international law over and over again. there are multiple documentaries and even proven by us themselves that almost most of the prisoners were innocent and held without any trial etc. tortured like unalive beings. THis is reality. And you cannot change how barbaric those agencies are.

We are a severely flawed country who believes that we are the all-knowing superpower, yet history has shown the world that we are a feral scared lost nation. I've spoken with American ex military. It's standard protocol to dehumanise the enemy in order for them to be able to slaughter innocent civilians, women, children and enemy combatants alike. The normal human psychopathy does not allow for the taking of human life without significant consequences. By perceiving these people as less than human, the atrocities and horrific treatment we hear about is not just possible, but also encouraged. The concept of drone warfare (essentially remote control killing) came about solely because of the proliferation of PTSD among US military because of the mentality required to treat human beings as these "humanitarians" do.

Even the worst Super-Max Prison in the USA couldn't get away with treating their prisoners like that, no matter what they were there for, even mass murder or serial rape. I am shocked that there are Americans working there that have the capacity for treating people so horrendously.
The military screens for psychopathy and appoints them to particular positions. It's an old tactic. Only certain individuals are capable of extreme inhumane treatment for extended periods of time with no psychological impact.

He keeps saying " if I remember" - dude, they made a movie about this!. I feel bad for the guy, but I don't think he is or was honest about so many things when this happened. I watched the movie maybe 10 times back in the day, and thought his story was bs to a large extent. He remembers every single thing and where he was, and why. If an American goes to a muslim country, the locals will drag them off the street and beat and rape them, and usually kill them! Or they will take them and beat them, rape them, and hold them for ransom. Sometimes they bury them alive in wood coffins and won't let them out until the ransom is paid. So I don't wanna hear him talk and act like America/Americans are so bad because our locals don't treat muslims who come here like that, and even if we did, we'd be arrested and locked up if they reported it to police. So they can come here and live among us, but Americans would be risking their life to even visit a muslim country! I'm so sick of their double standards! I don't condone any abuse or assault, but let's just be honest about the major differences between a muslim in America vs an American in a muslim country.

So lots of people don't believe he ended up in Afghanistan by accident. A 17 year old kid, on an adventure trip to Pakistan to a friend's wedding with 3 other teenage boys. First time travelling on their own, testosterone high, tasting complete freedom for the first time, making stupid rash decisions, who end up in Afghanistan. How many teenagers go to university and go crazy partying, boozing, experimenting with drugs, sex etc? Making stupid decisions and getting in trouble?
Even if he's not telling 100% truth, did he still deserve the horrific torture, abuse, humiliation, degradation and deprivation of freedom? It says a lot about the people commenting that they are more concerned about some porkies he might be telling rather than being outraged at the inhumane, barbaric, evil treatment by the "civilised" white torturers.

How does one go to Pakistan for a wedding and end up in Afghan. This is a very suspicious story. Mr Ahmed's story has some contradictory elements.
The story leading up. Makes no sense.. The timing is off... So his mate was getting married in 2 weeks... But you was in Afghanistan for 4 weeks.. It just doesn't make sense
If he was completely in the wrong place at the wrong time, why, when he got back to the UK, would he say no comment when they questioned him? If innocent then surely he'd be shouting it out loud? I would! And how do you just drop a case you have against the US and not know what's happening?, surely his solicitor would be keeping him informed? Sketchy as fk. 🤔
You never know what you would do in this situation as you aren’t there. He never knew what would be used against him, lawyers exercise this even for the innocent.
He also said he went to Pakistan for his friends wedding, then at the end when he got back to England describes how his dad was crying but angry at the same time “why did you go this and that”
