  • In this video we discuss the many different options and ways in which to spec a Porsche 911 (992) Carrera S. We explore many of the different exterior & interior options.
    2019 Porsche 911 (992) Carrera S - Black For Sale: www.romansinternational.com/u...
The 992 Porsche 911 Carrera represents the next step in the evolution of this iconic legendary sports car. To many in the automotive world the Porsche 911 has for the last 50 years represented a benchmark for what the sports car of its day should be. Now in it’s 8th generation, still defiantly rear engined and unmistakably Germanic, what makes the new 992 different? Firstly, the exterior styling has been significantly modernised, from the streamlined auto-deploying door handles to the brake light included in the rear engine grille, everything has been meticulously thought through.
Power is up 30bhp for the S to 444bhp, coincidentally the same amount as the 991.2 GTS, now running through an 8-Speed PDK and launching the car from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 191mph. This begs the question, what are figures going to be like on the Turbo S! The interior receives a thorough remodelling with an analogue rev counter flanked by 7” TFT screens and a beautifully integrated centre console. The dainty gear lever, knurled switches and high-quality materials used throughout exude luxury and class, making the cabin a really special place to be. More features included as standard such as cruise control, ParkAssist and Keyless-Go bring the 992 up to speed with its competitors’ trim levels.
Tweaks and adjustments to just about every component of the steering, suspension and car calibration have rendered a car which feels more planted, sure footed and capable than ever before. Everything from the brakes to the power delivery feels somehow more cohesive and together, in ways you didn’t realise were lacking. Overall the new 992 picks up exactly where it left off, evolving the 911 further again, including more features as standard and pushing the envelope for how much performance and sheer driving pleasure can be extracted from four wheels.

This is not a £30k Mercedes A Class which needs lots of lights and driver aids to make up it not being a particularly good driving machine, it’s a Porsche, it needs 4 wheels some seats and a steering wheel, the sheer driving pleasure comes as standard from the engineers at the Factory!

One disagreement on how to spec any Porsche 911: DO get the front Axle Lift. I've had Porsches in Toronto, San Francisco and now Seattle....I bottom out on driveways, speed bumps and careless road repairs on a daily basis. (This is especially true if you're spending extra on the Sport Design pack).

    • @talkingwithgenz1912
      @talkingwithgenz1912 Před 11 měsíci

Agreed - that far left button is for the Front Axle Lift and once you use it for your daily speed bumps/humps the GPS always recalls them automatically in perpetuity. The front scrape plate will thank you by not displaying plastic road rash daily. Rear axle steering is also a must. Most people don’t realize all cars come standard with PASM - if ordered - all you are paying for is a 10 mm lowering - which makes that option questionable. Definitely don’t get the PDCC which pumps oil into the shocks, these cars have almost no body roll without it. It also makes many people physically ill as your brain can’t process the lack of body roll in cornering. If you have a top heavy Targa then perhaps.

Good thoughts, well presented. I agree with almost everything said, though, as a young (30) audiophile I would deffinitely opt go for the burmeister system - it's the best in the business. Speaking of that though, I was out in my uncles 992 S last month, and, one thing I couldn't get past was a very slight but very noticable high pitched wine that appeared to be coming from one of the electronic devices in the car, you know how those old tube TV's often have a really high pitched electro static tone that's constantly there in the background where, you can seeminly hear the EMF's, I could hear something like that, and my god it was driving me bonkers, I'm told such high pitched noises are not usually heard by those over the age of 25 (apparently your ears usually degrade about that age - not sure if true or if younger people have just evolved to hear a wider degree of frequency because I'm older than 25 and I can still hear it - who knows, maybe I'm odd, I can hear bats) anyway, I could hear it, he (55) couldn't, and it was annoying, now, as his is the only 992 I've ever been in I can't say whether or not it was unique to his car, or if it's an issue present in all of them, however, if it is there in all of them, that would be a deal breaker for me and I'd be looking at a 997 GTS or even somekind of GT without any of the infotaiment/nav gubbins - yes I'd sacrefice having a sound system at all just to get rid of that. He had the standard sound system in his and he'd even lowered the bass level of that in the settings because he's a saddo of the whole 'bass is bad' boomer (!) generation. It was the worst thing about the car, almost everything else was lovely. So, all I can say is, AT LEAST get the bose. His is in agate grey with the most expensive natural leather option, that was lovely, so classy, and if I was being super nitpicky, which I am, the only other thing that bugged me was the fact that everything in the car was covered in this lovely brown except for the seatbelt buckles at the base of the seats which were in the usual black/red, I'm not sure if they have to be that way for regulations or what but they looked out of cadence with the quality and finish of everything else, it wasn't that they were bad, it was just that everything else was so perfect they stood out as being, well, mediocre. Not sure if that can be optioned out but if you are getting the awesome natural leather pack definitely option to upgrade those as well if you can, if not, I'd be looking at an aftermarket fix - he agreed with me on that. TLDR - Car is amazing, unless deaf upgrade the sound system at all costs, have an extended test drive in a few 991's and also try a 997ii GTS - as you might like it more.

Totally agree. It is common to see the front Sport design, the side Sport design skirts but definitely not the rear Sport design. It looks horrible in real life with the plate in the wrong place. Leave the back stock as the 991 is actually more bloated in the back - when you compare it with the cleaner 992 side by side.

@@bigmacdaddy1234 You have no fucking clue, buddy!
Every recent and bloody fast Porsche had four-wheel steering, because it's very obvious that it improves handling and cornering characteristics of a 911.
Guess why Porsche will recommend rear wheel steering to every 911 customer who's interested in performance and improved handling...?!
From 918 Spyder, 991.2 generation of 911 GT2 RS, 911 GT3/ GT3 RS and all 911 performance cars like different Turbo or GTS models and 911 S versions, and even the full electric Porsche Taycan Turbo models have it, because it makes these cars more stable and more safe... and of course these cars are quicker than with just a simple front axle steering.
      You are talking fucking crap!
It seems like it's better for you "taking a bus"...🤣!
Of course you can choose for a more traditionally only front-wheel steering in a new 992 Porsche 911 for keeping it more "puristic", but it will always be slower around corners than a new Porsche 911 which has steering on both axles..., period!

The corner speed is not that much higher and the handling is almost perfect as well for the 450PS without that. There is not sooo much more that you can squeeze out the Carrera. Drive both and you will understand what i meaning.

Bernie Sutton I could see how you would think it’s cheap but in cars where weight is incredibly important having a somewhat nice material that you can use in place of leather that is like 1/3 of the weight it really does make a difference and it’s helpful for the car companies to basically get the best of both worlds of performance and luxury...but don’t get me wrong you won’t find that stuff in a Rolls Royce

Drivers cars tend to not be overpowered missiles, and more delicate to pilot down the roads. I think the most important boxes to tick on the new Carrera S would be the manual gear box option, along with PSE (kind of useless on the 992 anyway), 4WS and S-PASM. The rest is just excess.
