The wise words at 7:08 and 18:50 are by Professor Richard Dawkins. Showing that metal is the intellectual music genre. 'The Greatest Show On Earth' is the title of one of the professor's books. Great reaction guys. This song transcends epic !

My tattoo artist once said the greatest thing I ve heard about music. When I asked him why he spends so much money on really expensive big speakers and not just wear some decent headphones, he told me: ''You have to feel the vibrations of the soundwaves through your whole body lad, that is the right way to experience music, not just your ears...'' And apparently this makes so much sense, music is not just sound, it is a feeling, a sensation, an experience, an expression, a meaning, a living vivid entity which you perceive with all your senses, do not forget that Beethoven was deaf. Hope I made my point :)
I love Nightwish btw, and great reaction to it, you guys know a lot about music.

The "We Were Here" part gives me the chills every time. I love your channel. I know we are a pain in the arsk. But Nightwish goes right to the soul. I believe that you cannot pigeon hole Nightwish into any set genre of music. I am not saying you can't tell that it is a Nightwish song. Because you definitely can do that. What I am saying is that it is not just symphonic metal. You can add power, folk, and others. I will see you at your next reaction. Thank you for sharing this beautiful song together!

The Greatest Show on Earth is about the history of Earth and life itself. It has 5 sections:
    1. Four Point Six (ends with the first spoken part by Richard Dawkins) - Earth as an empty planet, all rocks, lava etc. and the first life, the title refers to the estimated age of Earth, 4.6 billion years.
    2. Life (begins when the guitars kick in, ends with the break after the drum solo) - evolution and life, references to LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor), the Devonian era (also known as the Age of Fish, when amphibians started evolving to go on land), the Goldilock Zone (the ideal distance from the Sun, which allows water to exist in a liquid state) etc.
    3. The Toolmaker (starts with Floor's high notes and the primate grunting, ends with the "We were here" segment) - humans enter the stage, references to Lucy (the primate that seems to be our earliest ancestor), migration out of Africa, atomic bombs etc. and there are musical snippets from other musicians and composers, such as Bach, Mozart and Metallica (just before the second chorus you can hear the riff from Enter Sandman)
    4. The Understanding (the two spoken parts during the outro of the show) - quotes by UNWEAVING THE RAINBOW by Richard Dawkins and ON THE ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES by Charles Darwin, narrated by Dawkins.
    5. Sea Worn Driftwood - not that present here, but it is the soundscape after the last spoken part, with animal and ocean sounds to play it out.

He conveys science with such beauty, and Nightwish did a tremendous job conveying that same beauty with a song inspired by probably his best book. Great reaction, guys.

Oh Yeah Nightwish is a LIVE band you have to experience not merely hear/listen. To feel the music and see the band interact with the crowd and of course, experience Floor live and in person would be amazing! If you can see them by all means do but be warned unlike South America or Europe where they play to huge audiences (80,000+ at Wacken) in North America they play smaller venues. The smaller venue is because they are not as popular here, yet in a smaller venue it must be great because there is less pyro displays and more of the band up close and personal. Great reactions, saw it in your faces and your gestures during the video. The Celtic bagpipes with Troy (Folk Metal) are becoming more and more a part of the Nightwish songs, and can only get better as far as I am concerned. Love the channel!!

Well hopefully with all these great Nightwish reaction videos that have cropped up here on CZcams in the last six months or so. Exposing NW to a much larger audience here in the U.S.. That the demands for Nightwish tickets on there next tour here will be so great. That they will need to move to bigger venues in each city they usually play in. For example for where I'm from in the city of Seattle they may go from playing at the Showbox Theater, capacity: 1,150. Up to the 1,800 capacity Moore Theatre or even better yet. The 2,807 capacity Paramount Theatre. The ultimate being with them headlining a day long festival of symphonic metal bands, out at the 27,500 capacity The Gorge Amphitheatre, on the Columbia River! With the same up sizing of venues happen all across the U.S.A.

@@@marcmorton1439 An Amphitheater on the river sounds like the place I want to see this band. Outdoors and under the stars watching my favorite band and Floor light up the night, WOW an experience you can put on anyone's bucket list!!

I had the good fortune to see them in about 2003 at Bradford Rios in the UK. Very small venue. It was amazing!

At 16:23 Enter sandman riff, of black album from Metallica...great influence of Tuomas Holopainen.

Just to add on to this, Tuomas got into metal as a foreign exchange student in high school. When visiting the US he went to a Metallica concert and the rest is history :P

And there's a well known melody of Bach's Toccata ja Fugue in D minor just before that!

That Metallica riff and other references to well known music by others before Tuomas are there since they are part of human history, not necessarily to suggest that they have influenced him in any way.

On the bands who have "saved his life" or heavily inspired him:
Tuomas: "I don't know if it saved my life, but helped immensely. There are so many. VANGELIS. James Newton Howard. James Horner. METALLICA changed my life in many ways. I don't think I would be here without METALLICA.

This is one of my favorite reaction videos in the youtube. Two music-lovers enjoying one of the greatest pieces of music of our time, appreciating different things in it, but enjoying it as a whole. This is how a great composer can affect people unrelated to their usual taste of music. That is the greatness of music. edit: that synchronized "wow" at the end :D
