- Geoff and Burnie's hand try out a series of USB flash drives to see which one works best with the new Xbox 360 Dashboard Update! They chose to install Borderlands, because of the 3.3 gig file size (which would have fit on the 4 gig card had it worked). Join FIRST to watch episodes early: bit.ly/2wf5zPJ

I love how Burnie's hand gets progressively more detailed as the video goes and also this was very informative.
6 Years ago 250 gigs was overkill... Now 512 gbs is not enough for the xbox one
+*I just comment the title of the video (replies don't count)* nah in 2010/11 i got my 250gb PS3 and before that i had the 80gb i never understood how people could have such little memory i used 150gb and didnt even have many games only like 30 or so
+*I just comment the title of the video (replies don't count)* make that 2000 gigs lol
And the 2TB hard drive was over $300 and needed external power. How far technology has come over the last decade
Now 2TB is like 40 dollars, not 300
I love that I am watching this 6 years after it was relevant.
Burnie's hand for president.
Or 8
10 for me
12.
For some reason I love coming back and watching this video each year
The memory is so expensive!
Dang, it's surprising how much storage device prices have dropped in these last few years.
This is 7 years old, so you probably got your answer, but SSDs
Meanwhile now in 2022 you can get a 128 GB USB drive for under $15-$10
Look at him, so young and full of life
+Kevin Davis He was so happy
but he is more drunk than today
Back when Geoff wasn't dead inside
back when his kid liked him
wait why wouldn't his kid like him now
Thi Huynh on off topic he told a story where Millie said he's not he best dad
623pieman which one?
"I don't know if mom is the best mom, but I know you aren't the best dad"
Wish they would do videos like this more often.
Aleli54 veriaty is key
Now you can buy a 5TB external hardrive for a little over 100$
How times change, eh?
Dawson Navarro these are not hard drives though
Now 8TB for around 100$ :D
I need to know where you getting those deals
God, the prices of gigabytes in 2010 were crazy. Now, i can get a 16gb usb 2.0 for about 10-15$
Technology's weird like that.
In 2012 I bought a 320GB external HDD for $49 and now you can buy a 1TB External drive for the same :/ lol :D
And in few more years, we'll be saying the same thing about terabytes. And then before long, petabytes.
Nowadays you can buy 64+ GB Flash drives for under $10 Times do change…
and now you can get a 256gb for under $30
Burnie's hand is the real mvp
Aww "I love you...I love you too." back when they actually meant it. I'm sure they still do, but Geoff's instant response makes it feel so genuine.
to think this was only six years ago.... bloody hell man.....
To think it was 10 years ago
Geoff "Anything else ?"
Burnie "Nope, I love you."
Geoff "Love you too."
Dat friendship doe.
Why did I watch this again?
Because they're charisma is maxed out.
Yhetti64 "Because *they're* charisma is maxed out"
***** because its monday and there's no lets play
Because Everyone has watched everyone of their videos so we just rewatch lol
***** whoops typo
Wow, almost 11 years to the day. But just as entertaining
thanks for the recommendation CZcams lol, nice timing
wow, 6 years later, the prices of these drives are practically pennies compared to the time this video was posted.
I was about to say that haha
Love the random photobomb at 6:40
Oh, the days when i was excited to see a special 7 minute AH video in my sub box.
Holy crap! Anyone else notice how cheap you can get a 16GB flash drive for these days? I can pick up a SanDisk brand 16GB flash drive for about 10 bucks today at Wal-Mart hahaha
I also forgot that USB 4.0 is in the works..man pls make an updated video of this guide :C and all these prices are four times smaller
***** Yeah, aren't they supposed to be a lot smaller? Almost the size of a micro USB on both sides? And I also heard it was double sided so you'll never put it in upside down again!!!
Griff yeah, technology is advancing quickly!
***** Yeah you're right, it's USB 3.1 with a Type-C connector, which is the smaller reversible one
Jesus I totally forgot how expensive flash drives used to be...
I love the moments of Geoff and Burnie. They're a good tag-team for comedy.
for some reason this is probably my favourite achievemant hunter video ever!
"And you got a big hard drive hanging off your Xbox"
Crazy that you pretty much need one if you own more than five xbone games.
Thats why I still enjoy buying physical copies of games. Helps save all the storage space for DLC's and such
I miss when Geoff used to say "I love you"
thank you burnie for that beautiful hand commentary
Thank you for the report! About to get an External. Hope mine works out just as well
Lol just bought a 32g drive for 6 bucks
Well, since now you can get those things for like $15.99, I think I'mma get one of those. Thanks for this test from 5 years ago, guys!
These old videos are great for hangovers.
Just a few days after this video came out on the RT website I got the 16GB PNY, and have used it ever since. It works perfectly. Thanks Roosterteeth!
Memory cards are obsolete pieces of tech now.
depends on what you are doing with them, I still use an xbox original memory card to exploit into the OS of it and flip it to a rom hub.
I don't think obsolete means what you think it means...
TristanThePest nope he is deffenitly right, obsolete means no longer used or out of date. maybe you should know what you're talking about before you put someone else down..
Jack Carey Well he isn't right...because I'm still using memory cards for my DSLR; along with most other photographers.
icecream is nice I agree that they are not totally obsolete, however in the context then being used for consoles they are out of date. I was not defending his statement, but his proper use of the word.
2tb portable hard drive for $300! this must be old. you can get a 2tb portable hard drive smaller then an iphone for $80 now. Its amazing how far technology has come (and pricing).
***** eeew. Why buy Apple Products? Only good use for a mac that I have found is video editing and paper weight. Apple is becoming Alienware. You are paying for a name only.
Thank you Barbara, your puns are are as always, a tribute to humour.
16GBs being $80 is the funniest aged part of this video
Watching this in 2021 😐
Me too
Woah! I never noticed how fast the cost of memory has declined.
Storage*, memory is different haha
Guy Rodger Memory is key*
Huh?
...Somebody clearly doesn't watch RvB.
ninaeatworld even when this vid came out storage is cheaper, it just the AH and RT teams don't really have to worry about being pricy.
3:36 HAIR, I laughed so hard at that XD
I love you too Burnie and Geoff!
16GB's used to cost so much O_o
wow. Those prices on external memory back in 2010...
At least it's better than when it cost that much for something that was only 16MB.
Doesn't seem like 11 years ago! I miss the old office
This is the most professional I've seen Geoff in like, ever.
Shit was so expensive then.
They don't recommend external hard drives because they are cheaper than the original Xbox hard drives.
Theoretically flash based storage should have better non-sequential read times in all scenarios. So a hard drive might hang while trying to load the last little tid-bit of data but flash storage won't.
Doesn't matter that it's cheaper, you could have the biggest hard drive in the world and only use 32 gigs of it
I watched this video when it first came out and it felt yesterday but its been 7 years
You should do more of this!
Haha! The past.
wow I didn't know they used to make actual informative videos. neat.
I have the same SanDisk ultra backup as Gus and it's awesome.
Am watching this exactly 7 years later
what song was that?
STOP LIKING THIS COMMENT AND ANSWER MEEEEEEEE!
Darude - Sandstorm
Clipstreu Fuck off, I already know that trick.
This video no longer has any relevance to me, and the Xbox Series X is about to come out but I just like to hear their voices
I love watching old Achievement Hunter videos
Thats it. Recognition. Also sometimes gives you fun things to aim for that you wouldn't normally attempt, such as beating a level on the hardest difficulty without dying.
$80 for 16 gigs?! I have 32 gig card in my phone that was only $20!
Ariana Grande this was 5 years ago these are cheaper now.
Yeah they're a fuckton cheaper now. My 2 TB was like 80 bucks and it's smaller than the the old 250 GB in this.
Diego Alzaga Flagship phones still charge you $100 to go from 16 GB to 32 GB.
Th3Fizzle If you mean Apple, then that's because they suck. But you can upgrade an Android phone's memory with any micro sd. Which means I went from 9gb to 32 for $20
Diego Alzaga Android is an operating system, not a phone.
And iPhones go from 16 GB to 64 GB for $100.
Samsung Galaxy S6 does not have micro SD support. It also goes from 32 GB to 64 GB for $100
Goeff has very smooth feminine hands.
I love how burnies hand face thing slowly gets a face.:)
Happy Hardcore music in the backround? Nice.
Just play PC. PC always had this. Peasantry is real #pcmasterrace
I bet you live in your parents basement. Grow up.
No, I don't. I live in my own house
Fuck off
Drippy Spaff Stop acting childish.
Goombalo10 That was a terrible attempt at making a point, arguing, and justifying yourself.
his face goes funky every time he says the price
i like the music in the background
ahhh the joys of stumbling across a video starring geoff from 2 years ago....
back in the good ole days
Wow. Thats a lot of money. I brought a 16Gb for like £10. Love how technology gets cheaper over the years
13 years ago to this day, damn
damn 7 years ago geoff so young and happy 😢🖒
Which is why regular defragging is such a wonderful thing.
I wish they would do more vids like this
2:31 I wasn't expecting that. Coke all over my keyboard and monitor.
Ahhh the old office
For a lot of games it doesn't make much of a difference but there are quite a few games with significant differences in load times when installed to the hard drive.
If you have a extensive game collection it may be pretty useful for storing installs and XBLA stuff on.
I still use PNY USB storage devices to this day because of this video.
I like geoffs expression when he says the price of it
I have no idea why..8yrs later not only this popped into my feed..but I launched and now watching until completion.
What am I doing with my life?
Why are we here?
Griff and Church sound so young.
True, but I've never thought of the disc spinning as being particularly loud, certainly not much louder than the Xbox itself. Although, I suppose it would mean less scratches to the disc and less chance of damaging it.
i love how you can buy all the thumbdrives can be bought now for like 40$ all together
This video was quite handy
Love this video
I have one of those tiny 4GB drives for my xbox - it works for me, but it's a bit dodgy plugging it in, basically the connector casing (the bit that protects it when it's folded) has to sit exactly flush with the console's port, otherwise the connection isn't good enough. Sometimes it takes a few hard pushes to make sure that it's plugged in correctly.
(I only use it to store my profile and save games though)
In a shop Nearby, there was a 32gb flash drive, for €4,99 , but then again, this was 4 years ago
basically downloading from one part of your computer to another. like putting a picture into a new folder.
I haver read elsewhere that the size limit is 16gb. You could plug in something larger, but only be able to use 16gb of it. there are 2 front usb slots, so that makes 32gb, and if you wanted more, you could have multiple thumb drives and swap them in. the best price now seems to be around 0.50 per gb
I use the Corsair Flash Voyager (8GB) and it works a treat. It has stored 3 years of gaming on my profile and the profile itself and I still have 3.2GB left.
well these was the second RoosterTeeth building
i found one of those pny drives (8GB) and im glad i kept it
Love the very end of this video
Its good to see burnies sense of humor hasn't changed
in the netherlands there are usb's for €1 per gig, thats about $1.3 per gig
sometimes cheaper, but quality can be laggy
Weird to think I watched this 4 years ago when it came out.
Anyone know the IAYD chiptune track playing near the end? Seems to have vanished from the internet and I've been trying to find it for months.
Their friendship is so beautiful.
that old office though
The PNY Mini works now.
Thank you Geoff!!! Now hopefully this will solve my current storage problem. Defiance is 10 GB!
goeff's face at 1:36 is amazing
its because it usually formats said drive to a compatible format or to make it run faster etc etc etc
The October 2012 Update for the Xbox lets you use up to 32GB now! (yay)
