Do you love a good before and after room makeover? Then, this is a bedroom transformation that you don’t want to miss. My youngest son moved out a few months ago, so after a few days of packing away his sports decor and memorabilia, I began redecorating the room in a classic vintage design using William Morris wallpaper as my inspiration. The only new items purchased were the wallpaper, bedding, curtains, and one gallon of paint. Everything else was repurposed from other rooms in my house or purchased at a thrift store. Oh, and one nightstand came off the curb! I shared lots of tips and tricks to help you with your next room makeover. Hope you find lots of inspiration here!

The room is truly stunning!!! And, YES, I knew there would be birds! I also love the pink bed pillows, the bedside lamps, and that large round floral picture you hung. You never let us down....elegance and warmth....that is all about you.

You are so talented. I don’t as a rule go for dark wall color but wow, you turned a blah room into a “designer house” bedroom. I also love how each “creator/crafter CZcams “ lady I watch has such different ideas and styles of decor they use. I’ve never really had the opportunity to really explore that creative side of myself. Turning 73 soon and still don’t know what my style really is,😂. Oh well, I’ll grow up or grow into myself one day.😊❤

@@Storm111_ it’s hit and Miss here in South Carolina where I live. Plus prices are going up too much even at the thrift stores. Some areas have wonderful finds and other places have stuff that literally should have gone into the trash.
You should sleep in that room; if only for one night. A guest in your own home. Just lovely. 😊

As an interior, designer, and an artist, I found this video, most enjoyable, and the final result absolutely exquisite❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ I really appreciated how you went, step-by-step and preparing the room for paint by cleaning the walls, which is something a lot of people do not do and then they have trouble with their paint and hearing or laying smoothly like it is meant to. I love all the instructions and tips you gave everyone and how you showed that it is possible to make a beautiful room without breaking the bank. I know a lady that feels as if she could never remodel unless she spending tens of thousands of dollars and I want to say to her, how about you give me the money and I do like you did and looking for unique fines in someplace besides Ethan Allen, etc. I am not a snob and I understand and appreciate namebrand items such as your sheets or designer wallpaper, but so much of the rest of it accessories can be found without buying super expensive, 100%. There’s no reason you can’t, for example, invest in a nice piece of art, or a nice statue or figurine, such as L’ladro or Fitz & iFloyd. But as you have so beautifully demonstrated, feel the rest of the room up with
“treasures“, as I like to call them, can come from Your attic (or even your Grandmother’s, if she’s no longer using the items.
One of the reasons I like to encourage clients to incorporate personal items, as well as 2nd hand treasures, is because most of us weary of the decor within 5 years and will want to do it all over again. We are more likely to be compelled to do so if we did NOT initially spend $10, or $20,000 on our remodel the first time❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

I think he is gone for good this time! 😜 He has moved in and out a few times since graduating from college, but he seems settled now. 🤞 My thrift store prices fluctuate. I feel like they are lower now than they were a few years ago (at least at Goodwill). I’m not sure why, but I think it is because they have so many donations that they have to move stuff quickly. What a bargain the $7 navy velvet cane chair was! Perfect for the room. I love how the swan on top of the china cabinet has touches of dusty rose like that in the wallpaper. Beautiful, rich looking room.

The transformation is stunning! All of the blues look so nice together. Finding a chair for under seven dollars, let alone one that is in good shape and has velvet cushions, was an incredible deal. I’ve always used wallpaper that needs to have the paste applied, as I like the maneuverability of it. I’ve been thinking of using peel and stick paper in a small area, so I appreciated the tips on that, especially about cutting around windows. The room looks beautiful
Beautifully done! I recently redid my daughter's room. She comes home to visit at least once a month, so I let her choose the paint color--coral! It's been a challenge finding artwork. Thank you for the great ideas!

Beautiful! Loving that paint color. We have been in our home for 5 years now and have decided the start painting rooms one at a time. All our walls are lightish grey. Think we will look at a color like this for our living room. My gallery wall will pop on paint that color! It looks so inviting. Oh my goodness, the new room is warm, inviting and oh so charming! I must admit that I didn't object to the color scheme of the "old" room. But with the before and after, I understand how powerful using dark, saturated colors can be. I love everything you set your hand to, and this room is no exception. You are so talented!!!

Yes! So perfect! My fav is the large round flower print frame on the wall. Also the wallpaper is a great jumping off point to pick decor for the room.
Thanks so much! I bought that large vintage floral for $3. It is scratched a bit, but a little Rub n Buff on the frame and a little antiquing wax on the picture and it looks almost as good as new!
How can I become a friend so I can spend the night in that lovely guest room? It is elegant without being stiff, and traditional while still providing unexpected touches. Your guests will certainly feel welcomed and pampered in this room.
I put the same blue/salmon print paper onto the back panel of a hutch top that I converted to a floor display cabinet. I love it!

Absolutely gorgeous! When you want to redo a room, where do you start? Do you start with a color in mind, or the choice of wallpaper, or something else? Your design ability to bring everything together is amazing! Your work is better than many designers by trade. I’ve also never seen any use of wallpaper done better than you do!

Thank you so much! I took a piece of the wallpaper to have it color matched at the paint store, but it looked gray, not blue, so I picked another color that I thought coordinated well. It could have gone wrong, but I got lucky this time!

*E-Z Hang* . Thank you for sharing this tip. I have a "moment" installation at the end of my hallway. I used double sided tape to hold the battery packs for fairy lights during Christmas. The removal tore the paint and paper from the drywall (never again). I've been contemplating installing the Nextwall Peel and Stick Bird floral in Mahogany & Graphite to bring in some pattern and cover the "oops". Your tip may seal the deal. I love the way you styled the space. The glass front armoire is a winner! You created a lovely balance of masculine and feminine elements. Chef's Kiss!
I'm not a fan of dark walls, but since that room gets so much natural light, it's not so bad. Honestly, it surprised me how nice it looks with the alcove desk painted the same color as the walls. I would have gone with white, but you do you. It looks very classy and will make a lovely guest room.
I’ve removed so much wallpaper in my life that I said, never again.

I just adore the William Morris wallpaper - it is simply gorgeous.....over here where I live in South Africa, our thrift stores do not believe in selling used items for low prices - we pay dearly for the lot. We also do not have anyone leaving items of furniture on the pavement! Totally different culture and ethic.......
