All of these CZcamsrs with McLarens now. They grow up so fast 😭
They're the same person. Just swap their faces with AI ! Wake up people !
You mean they got so cheap ha ha
You mean mclaren owners crash so much.
@@ruststar hurricanes help the used market 😆
I don't have a super, ot hyper car, but I do have better tools than cheap Chinese stuff from horrible fright.
I think Rich got tired of people thinking he was just the voice and didn’t do the repairs. So he hit us with a one man video of him doing a massive amount of repairs. Hats off to him.
legit the only reason I came to the comments.
My thoughts exactly. Uncle rich showing us how it's done one handed.
Thought for sure he was just a black male version of Leenda 🤪
That's how he started his channel. He rebuilt damaged Tesla's.
@@MTCT942 yeah I know. Just people forgot is all.
Thanks Rich, really appreciate you helping out the common man with ordinary cars. Keep up the work.
I am entertained, love a good McLaren rebuild that you can do (mostly) from your home garage.
yeah he should put a 2 litre diesel turbo in it, because its cheaper! probably easier ! like he said in his last video! and itll get more mpg which means its a nooo brainer! duh!
I hope he does a BOUGHATEEE video because mine has a kaburetor problem that needs fixing. I need Rich to guide me.
@@larssonk22you 100% can’t do most of this from your garage unless you are a mechanic and also have the special software. Accumulators alone are super dangerous to do.
@@executiveinvestments, as long as you don’t try and split those accumulators, what’s dangerous?
I swear Rich is the best 1 hand mechanic i've seen.
He has a lot of experience using one hand!
You don't want to know what he does with the other hand
I was thinking the same thing
The other hand is always busy keeping Stephen away from any keys in the shop
I saw a video of a polish guy replace a cam belt on a pd130 engine with one held, mad lad
Rich just rebuilt a 720s with one hand 😂
😂
😂

Calling people on the phone?
@@gregorytolson1648 taking video with one hand.. working with the other one.
This is the type of stuff I like to see from you, just go old work and results. GREAT job sir, can't wait to see the next episode on this very nice car. I'm locked in.
Yes! And in his old school garage 👍👍
2:04 "Stevon location" in the tab is so funny
I see each week’s episode is like where’s Stevon in the video…🤣🤣🤣
I saw him in the ad!
i miss him
It’s just like when they said one of the Beatles died back in their hay day.
My opinion of McLaren build quality went even further down after this particular vid, lol. I'm shocked at how amateur-hour many of the reliability failures seem at a glance. I'm sure it's not easy to design a large panel of roof glass to fit on a supercar that is actually meant to lay down good track times, but it even being a common failure point is worse than if they hadn't done it in the first place. The intake breaking apart and screwing up the turbos is completely unacceptable though, wtf.
Exactly! Fora $600,000 car!? Wtf, I'd rather build myself a car, what a joke, a plastic intake on a McLaren... Who woulda thought! 😂
I mean they said “almost” and “could” a lot. Not saying it’s not a mistake but it hasn’t happened and it’s repairable. Nothing is perfect, people are human.
Car was clearly not designed to actually be worked on. Terrible access to pretty much everything.
@@mikehunt8375they’re 1/3rd of that price, still an expensive car but every car has its quirks. Especially on a brand as new as McLaren.
Not to mention the accumulators failing every two years😖 people make mistakes, but Maclaren makes a LOT. It seems some of the drivetrains are also built dangerously close to the failure point which is really bad for tuning and modding as well
I took TESTOGREN for one week and I'm happy to report that a third testicle is coming in, cute little guy. People say it's weird to have 3 but I have it on good authority that 3 balls is a WIN WIN WIN.
This kinda makes makes me want a McLaren...almost...knowing I could work on it is HUGE. It's LUDICROUS what they charge for stuff.
Same!
It is still just a car after all. The biggest hurdles are always getting replacement parts and if needed software to actually work on the car.
@@Kyomara1337 The "just a car" mentality, sure...technically it is. But as you mentioned, not all cars are equal.
More I watch McLaren videos, they are just like any other car down to basics. Except the parts could be very pricey or hard to come by.
@@biglee13m People keep saying this and, sure...it uses an internal combustion engine and has 4 wheels, but they're a far cry from a Toyota Camry. The hydraulic suspension system is SUPER trick, there are lots of unique materials used, etc. AND tools and parts for it can be rare and/or expensive.
So, yea, it is "just a car", but it's also kinda not. That's why it's cool to see that at least SOME things can be found without paying their ridiculous prices. The computer tuner thing is a good example of this.
Rich, when Vbands for exhaust/pneumatics are used. Torque the bolts to spec. Take a rubber or plastic mallet and tap firmly on the band all the way around. Torque again. Never over tighten the nut or the V band clamp will distort and leak. I work with these all the time.
Love the duck blanket Rich, it looks like your safe space
It’s amazing seeing you repair this but what amazes me more is the fact that someone actually designed these parts from scratch and managed to get all of them to fit together within the shell of the body.
I really enjoyed this episode. Watching you get to work without all the theatrics and everything else was refreshing. Keep doing more videos like this! Keep up the good work!
This video is they way the channel started. It is SO much better then those videos with Ste-Con 🤮in them. This kind of video is the Rich we all know and love ❤. 👍👍
It seems that I'm not the only one who prefers this type of content rather than the more comically oriented vids. I enjoy those too, but this was truly great.
Na bring back the comically oriented content
That mouse knew what he had. Sometimes you tinkle, sometimes you sprinkle, but you never chew the electrinkle.
Dude going "WEEEEEEE" made me happy and I don't know why. lol
The glass guys' tools and procedure was absolutely fascinating...and I'm not sure why...
Because you were ignorant of it before
As a Citroen nerd, seeing that this car has hydropneumatic suspension makes me happy, even if it still has coil springs around the struts. Also, while a lot of folks may miss the more humorous videos with Stevon, this McLaren rebuild feels like it's really getting back to the rebuilds part of the channel name. It's been mostly "Rich builds" for a long time, which is by no means a bad thing, but watching you wrench on vehicles and solve problems is oddly calming. It's like it's demystifying the engineering that goes into these fancy cars, and it's both fascinating and reassuring that my own car repairs aren't going to be that complicated lol.
Kudos to Dan and his assistant! It's so awesome to see a real professional totally handle a complex situation.
Came here to say this. Love the attitude. ‘…it’s just glass.’
I always wanted a McLaren F1 as a kid, then I heard how much the monthly service was. Now I just want a Toyota Corolla with 15inch rims so that way I spend like 120 dollars on it every 6 years.
Thanks for showing Mass Glass. I've had a windshield done by safelite and it looks all wavy and like crap. Dad did a bunch of work on my son's S2000 and had an OEM windshield he put in after painting. Now that's impressive. Hi Dan!
Thanks Freddy, its soo cool you do this other channel too!
Spoken like a true glass guy. It's just glass.
"The sound of suction, and sticking it up in that hole." The man is a poet.
Watching a guy re-tap suspension mounts? You bet! That’s one of the key things that make this channel a “rebuild” channel for us creative types, not just consumers who oogle at pretty things.
wuh?
Glad to see rich getting his hands dirty again. Reminds me of the good ole days.
One of the best videos RR has made in a long time . Looking great man
Yes! It’s old school Rich, luv it and without a ponytail scamming side kick. 👍👍
Very enjoyable back to basics video. Such a cool car can't wait to see it back together
👍👍
It's so nice to see a professional talking and doing his job professionaly ! The guys repairing the glass was top notch content 👌
Not only are you funny, but you have the knowledge to back up both what you say and do. If there was a 'RR' church- I'd join in a heartbeat. You keep it real and we appreciate that man, keep up the good work!!
Great video Rich. Underscores how much I never want to own a McLaren.
Huge respect for taking on a project few would. Like rebuilding the space shuttle.
Nightmare in reliability and serviceability and of course cost of unobtainium parts.
I’m enjoying your take on the McLaren build. This is my favorite McLaren build series right now.
Rich rebuilds a 720S in a storage unit, fantastic! Gave me the “Tesla disassembly in a field”, warm, familiar vibe.
After watching you for about 6 years i'd say this is one of your best videos! Loving it
What’s cool is that rivian there in the background has an very similar suspension setup with those already upgraded accumulators on it.
9:23 the low key reference to epic songs of the 90s was amazing I appreciated it significantly!
One of your best videos. Good luck with the 720.
I agreee, the only thing missing is Biscuit (his dog). 👍👍
Idk why but rich has the best rebuild content. No screaming no corny banter just good old Racist sexist and gay jokes. This is therapeutic. Other channels overload my senses.
Being from New Hampshire I’m no stranger to our accent, it’s still very funny to hear it when I don’t expect it. That Dan guy from mass glass….wasn’t expecting him to have one 😂
Or locktiie
Seeing you work on this in a messy garage just proves you’re one of us
Did everyone miss Stevon in the background on the running machine at 1min 52. Nice to him sort of back.
great to see him moving
The circlips that hold transaxle ends onto the splines can be taken off by using 3 little flathead screwdrivers pushed between the axle and the clip at the same time. Just for future reference
You are a genius, working with one hand and filming with the other. You are an inspiration, and people always say that knowing "too much " is a bad thing 🤣
The Turbo stud nuts are designed like that intentionally. It's a locking nut so it requires more torque to get them on, usually I use WD-40 or PB blast. It's like that so they don't back out easily under intense heat. So make sure you use the same style, not just a generic Home Depot one.
very helpful, helped me replace my spark plugs and axle seal on my 720s, thanks Rich!
Rich, very nice job on the narrative and getting the camera work done yourself.
Those spark plugs look like an engine out kind of job 😀
Skip to 18mo from now and he's selling it like everyone else does
Done it on both my mclarens not an engine out thing at all but takes time.
Fantastic video. Tons of great information on the build process of these cars. Nice work Rich.
I think Tavarish is jealous....
Pulling those air filters out of their plastic is like trying to get a toilet roll out from it's plastic one handed. I think we all have been there lol
This is why I subscribe. This is awesome.
Awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Great video for the DIY person, now I just have to find a McLaren 720s... ;)
Dan is the man!! Best bodyshop around 👌🏻
I do like the fact you just get stuck in and demonstrate that most of this stuff is do-able with a decent attitude and a reasonable toolset.
I just wanted to say that the profile pic with the 90’s school pic background is a level of detail that this world needs back…..
did you say there was oil on the coil pack neck? thats a valve cover leak if so, and will cause misfiring when it gets full...also come across a lot of plugs that are not tightened down enough for the crush washer
Those *Motive* pressurized bleeders are a game changer for quick, one person jobs and especially for doing complete flushes. All the suction-type ones...well...suck. The only issue is that they require the matched reservoir cap for your vehicle. I bought the specific version for my Cayman, but I think I'll try to purchase ordinary spare caps for my truck and motorcycles and modify them for hose fittings.
1:51 Steven running on the treadmill is gold 😂😂😂
U was just gonna say thats 😂
Thank you uncle Rich for your tip. I think most of us ( subscribers) drive a Honda MPV and don’t give a 💩 for Mclaren services 😂😂😂
If you use a softer urethane at the windows they will be less prone to cracking
Or why not just add glass coverage to your car insurance after you install new top glass??? Make it the insurance company’s problem????? 🤷
@@WatchRichRebuildsChannelhave fun paying more insurance premium after every claim
That’s what collectors insurance is for. When they increase you premium you change to another collectors insurance company. They’re like 10+ of them out there. Just don’t use Geico THEY ARE HORRIBLE!@@yeshuinfinity5963
Loving this build, great premise on the cheap build .
yeah.. only a quarter mil by the end of it. What a bargain
The glass replacement seemed straightforward. Odd that so many companies refused to do it. 😮
Because they know it would break immediately. The solution Rich got was pretty good.
They don't want to warranty it.
Loved the longer episode…. Cant wait to see that car on the road
cant wait to see the final product
I use the WRD spider for all of my windshield cut outs. Nice to see another windshield shop using the same tool. Nice clean cut outs for sure.
Love seeing this project man. I bet you're stoked to have it. Keep it up man
Just plugging through this car. Good catch on the axle. Never can assume that another shop does things right or doesn’t miss something. It’s good you are really doing a major service to make sure all the fluids are good.
Excited to see what else you find wrong and fix throughout the process Rich, right on!
Awesome hands on vid. I was amazed at the build quality put into such an expensive machine. I really like the fact that you did the upgrades to the flaws. Can't wait to see it all back together.
I like that Rich actually shows how hard these kind of projects are to do!
I LOVE ❤ that your back in your O.G. basement garage home shop. The big shop is great but nothing beats old school work out of your home garage like the channel started from. I’ll have to mail you some more Safety Wood. LoL👍👍👍👍
Huh, it's nice to have a grounded technical episode every now and again.
It is like a Christmas this weekend.1st Tarvish with 2 videos and then you ..... what these videos have shown me is that you own a McLaren you need to have deep pockets.
Makes you wanna Pinch your helmet 🪖. LoL

Love how simple and fast y’all make it look when in reality it isn’t
This is super helpful! Thank You for showing the details of these repairs. This can only help long term Mclaren ownership and value. Thanks!
Damn! That axle thick
i see what you did there at 25:22, not a easter egg, but an Halloween egg
nice one!
We still Love You Rich!!!! Life is GREAT..
Great video with tons of details. Love it!
well done mate! Back to the basics work and results! Looking forward to upcoming episodes, keep it going! cheers 🙏🏻
Awesome video, I’m glued up to this type of content. I can watch this all day !
Not like you need it, congratulations on acquiring an awesome car. Can we expect you to make it faster then Tavarish Maclaren's?😂
right said fred 🤣
I love this video format Rich it’s like Mat Armstrongs videos up close and you learn from it.
Nice one Rich! I like the conversational format too. I'm really into this build!
Excellent video! Well done! Congrats on the 720s!
You should give Time-Sert a try they are far superior than heli coil which ever one you use you should lock tite them in
Nice Job. Can't wait to see the finished product.
I don't know if Rich was joking, but those special lock-nuts for the turbo studs are actually designed deliberately to have "damaged" threads - to ensure they won't back off.
The way they work is the threads near the flange are normal, but towards the other side, there are a few threads that are crushed towards the flange slightly. When you install them, they bind up, ensuring they won't back off, even without loctite (which won't work very well due to the high temperatures at the turbo).
If you see them used on your stock car, make sure you don't replace those locking nuts with regular nuts because regular nuts will loosen due to engine vibrations and thermal cycling.
Great video! Haven't had any idea how these types of cars are built. A lot of insightful information here. However, you have successfully dissuaded me from ever owning a car like this lol
This is way better than the Leenda era content
Well it’s all a learning curve for Rich. The more feedback like this the better the channel gets. 👍👍
It's a good day when I see new episodes😃
Love the old school style video, Rich. Can't wait to see the 720!
OMG is that the owner of EMF audio?? Holy crap what a small world. He makes some monster subs for a great price...
Enjoying your videos... awesome car to work on... cant wait to see it up and running
I’m loving the detailed repair on 720 so keep it up Rich. I love Freddie’s channel on the P1 but not yet quite so much detail but I dare say that will come eventually 😊
Thanks for the slow and show view style of this video. I very much enjoyed it.
Very nice video, Rich! Keep up the good work!
I cant wait to borrow this for a road trip when my Merc becomes moldy
I can’t believe Rich has all these fancy cars and he makes his wife ride a bicycle 🚲 to work. LOL 😂😅😂
