It probably is because you've got to return that support, by helping them in return. Everyone is rooting for others, but you've got to return the favor...
It's a bit narcissistic to expect that others will be cheering you on while their life is shit, and you don't care about them. Always ask yourself, why they are behaving that way or acting in a certain manner.
