Bookshelves

- My parents have a lot of books, and need a place to put them. They have a mostly clear 24 foot wall in their finished basement. We thought we would build a book shelf along that entire wall. I designed this shelf a little bit differently than is typically done. Normally you build a box or a frame and build shelves into that structure. If you want more shelves, you build more boxes. In this traditional design, you end up with a double layer of material between each set of shelves. In my design, I built the vertical piece as one layer and attached each section together in the center of the shelves. This reduced the amount of material we needed to buy to 9 sheets of pre-finished birch plywood and also gained 3 to 4 feet of shelf space.

Jealousy is a terrible trait, but that workshop, bookshelves and that number of books has me going to confession. Regards.
You either have a fantastic Mom, or a twisted idea of payback. LOL (My Mom actually taught me my first lessons in woodworking when I was 7 years old. Bless her heart.)
So nice your parents are a part of this video. You're a big inspiration Frank. Thank you.
Wow! Super MOM. Great project, Frank. I have about 10 sheets of prefinished maple ply waiting on me to produce cabinets. I designed the cabinets to surround our Theater Room screen using Sketchup. Then I imported the Sketchup file into Aspire and produced the CNC vectors and toolpaths. I just need two more hands to load these sheets onto the CNC. I have been waiting just over a year so far. Wish I had mom like you :)
Your parents must be proud of your accomplishments. I know I'm impressed. Not just with this video, either.
Hey Frank. Great job on the mega book shelf....Clap Clap Clap and more so the extra lift from the ground in case it floods. Very few would keep that in mind! Mom and Dad must be so proud sitting back and just admiring it.
Nice! Good on ya for taking care of your Mom and Pops! Now you just need to build them an old school card catalog cabinet so that they can find the book they are looking for!! HA!!
Nice job, and nice clip, Frank. You have good parents, they have a good son, and together it makes a good family. Not easy to find any of such component or combination in this part of the world. Democracy counts, at least most of the time.
My grandfather had a similar library and when he passed the bookcases was removed and the books donated. It was a tragedy I didnt appreciate until I was older. Based on your efforts you will likely not do the same😀
I like that you tell us your thinking and your videos are top notch, great editing and effects. Your craft skills allow the artist and engineer to create some superb projects. So having said all that, you are close to being a CZcams god... Which reminds us that your Mom made you. We bow to the MOM. Great job! Thanks for sharing with us Frank.
Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves
Clickspring AND Frank on the same day? Today's my day.
Best thing in life is to make your old folks happy. Good job
Love the slight stagger of the shelves. Awesome touch that stops the shelves from being boring
No-one commented on your video editing mastery. Along side the incredible work on the library you created the time spent editing this video to keep it interesting and watchable is so well done that no-one noticed.
Wow, this is huge! Amazing work, Frank and it was so cool to see your mother involved. :)
Any man who loves and respects his mom deserves a thumbs up and a new subscriber. Great project too.
That's wonderful Frank. Thanks for helping your mom and pop. Thanks a lot.
God Bless your parents ,They created a great person who creates great things.
Your organization skills are just as impressive as your wood skills. It make your job easier!
