- there are 3 things i'd like to mention:
1 - if you want all my recipes from this pop-up, along with future journals/recipes/etc, sign up for my substack! | substack.com/@hwoo?...
2 - huge shoutout to Petrossian Caviar, we raised and donated $3000 to Children's Hospital LA from all caviar sales! i'll be posting that video in the next vlog :)
3 - thank you all so much for supporting, it means more than you know to me. whether you support by watching this video and commenting a "." or you made a reservation and spent your hard-earned money & free time at my pop-up, i can't thank you all enough 🖤
it's episode 6 of my vlog series, and this is a recap of my pop-up at Budonoki in LA. it's truly fascinating to see a month's work all executed into 2 days. i've learned a lot, and i'm looking forward to more pop-ups. also, if there's a restaurant that seems like they'd be open to having me stage & collab on a pop-up with them, let me know!

No other tiktok "chefs" are actually in the shit. You are the realest.
true
FORREAL i wanna see your fav food tiktoker try an survive a 160 cover night 😂😂😂
that's not true, lots of chefs on IG/tik tok actually went from restaurants to social media. H just doing the opposite.
I respect Nick. He was on master chef, and imo he got jerked. He was by far the most creative and I feel like they were pushing one of the girls more. So for her to win, they had to eliminate Nick in the semifinals cause no way would she beat him in the finals.
@@nhtathinfbntb2746yep exactly likke acooknamedmatt, senpaikai the most obvious
The supportive camaraderie of that restaurant is amazing to watch!
the most supportive team i’ve ever worked with 🥹
the caviar bumps during the recap at the end were so endearing lmao
congrats on the popup h & budonoki fam
looking back while editing this, the bumps were a hilarious touch 😅
Thank you!!!!
Man h woo this whole pop up series was amazing! As a fellow line cook I enjoy seeing your passion and desire to serve great food and all the hard work taht goes on behind the scenes. This industry isnt for the weak. keep up the great work, excited for what the future will bring!
my man thank you 🙇🏻♂️ excited to share more of the future with y’all 💪
As a young like cook, I worked in a lot of poorly run restaurants. I didn't know that at the time because bad kitchen stereotypes are so built into many people's understandings of the culinary world and how it works. Loud, crazy, aggressive, messy, intense. All things that are perceived about restaurants. The way that you approach food and service is the right way. I appreciate people like you who break this bad stereotype and show people that when you set yourself up for success, both in Mis en Place, and within yourself, service should be a calm dance, a harmony. So sick to see you on this journey!
Man. Amazing. This is the meaning of life. To have fun with peeps that are like-minded and enjoy each other’s companies. Big up 🙌
Facts 📠 it is really fulfilling to do these kinds of events
Congratulations on a successful pop up with a wonderful team! 🎉🎉🎉 Looking forward to whatever you have lined up next ~
Thank you!!!! 🙏 excited to share my future plans
The buzz of a kitchen is like nothing else. If you can manage a kitchen you can literally accomplish anything
I think it could be really cool to hear you tell the story of your culinary journey. It's so inspiring seeing you host a pop-up with Budonoki, and I think a lot of people would appreciate hearing how you got there and the ups and downs of choosing to pursue a career as a content creator and chef. Congrats on everything, looking forward to what's next!
He’s done that.
I think this is a great idea! Ive shared it in bits and pieces throughout my content journey, but i will think about compiling a solo video for this!
Your mom making cookies is such an awesome touch. Love that!
Great job, H! You and the Budonoki team kick ass. Dream team 🙌🏻
H woo!! As a fellow Asian American home kitchen foodie-turned cook that also just had my first (much smaller) pop up event, seeing your journey has been so cool and such an inspiration!! If you ever come to the east coast I would love to stage with you!
So happy to hear this!!!!! Congrats!!!! I am definitely open to staging in NY or DC at some point!!!
Also so proud of you!!! Been watching you since the beginning and you deserve all the best!!!
The important thing is you brought it! Teamwork makes the dream work. Fantastic!
Thank you so much for the recipes!! 🙏I can’t wait to attempt to make some of your banchan! And I really love this longer format. Your content always has told stories in some way and the vlogs keep adding more layers! So glad it the pop up went so well 😊
So glad that everything went well! The team at budonoki are honestly the best, such a great experience for both you and them! Can't wait to see whats next!
This is so cool. I love the positive energy and candidness and the team drive. It was so meaningful to watch and participate through the camera! You worked hard!!
🎉🎉🎉this is incredible. I did the math for the meal set and WOW. I imagine the cost of ingredients, the salary for the crew, and crazy LA rent would leave a very thin margin.
it is insane how we came up with enough money to still donate to charity!!! More info on this in the next vlog!!!
@@hwoo.lee OMG- YES!
love the energy of the budonoki team, watching your journey up to the popup was a treat
Bunch of stone cold killers. As someone who loves and respects food, I respect chefs like you even more. Everything looked amazing. Great job fulfilling a dream of yours, H. ❤ Great job brother.

Nothing but respect to you from doing the stage to learn the systems and actually going through with a pop up for that many covers. You should be very proud of yourself!
Dude I've just recently started watching your youtube (been following you for a while on TikTok), but i'm so glad that I did, they series, especially this finale, with the ending part of this video was something special, it was wholesome and really nice to see. Cheers for all the content and hard work, hopefully you get some rest after this whole 1.5month work you've done for this~

Good food brings them in, good service brings them back show some love for front of house 👏🏽 well done chef amazing
Congratulations on all your hard work and success. The menu looked amazing.
These videos of watching your journey feel like a music video that is meant to be inspirational, but it's real
What a crazy crack team to work with at Budonoki! Congrats on crushing it. Clutch delivery from Pacific Fresh Fish. Pretty cool to see it all come together. Cheers to the next one.
Every episode awaiting room! Such an inspiration chefff
Dude. This pop-up/vlog series has been fantastic to watch. I never had the courage to make the decision to cook for a living, so it's super cool to watch you through this journey. Always rooting for you, man! Can't wait to see where this all takes you!
I'm sure you get this a lot but thx for making this series. For me personally seeing someone so motivated and infatuated with what they do has finally woken me up. I'm like the biggest couch potato ever and thx to this series I have finally started working on myself building a better tomorrow by working on today thx you so much
i'm so happy to hear this, because it's fkn hard to be motivated and do this stuff. i'm rooting for you, always striving to improve !
Banger, these videos makes we want to go back to working kitchen again so badly man
Amazing food, amazing cinematography, and great fucking work. You absolutely CRUSHED it. So happy for you and also extremely jealous. Thank you for sharing the journey!!!
I generally never "do" these pop up things, but THIS ONE? I would go. For sure. A great mix of technique/quality and a great atmosphere. Excellent work!
Love these vlogs so much dude. You’re an incredible chef 😊
I may not know you personally. But I hope you know every single one of your subs is so fucking proud of you man you did an AMAZING job, keep it up. Loving the vids.
Congrats H!
Can’t wait for the next pop up 😎
this mfs vlogs r so calming, lowkey its theraputic af i cant lie
i understand all day. i worked for some companies last year that had us pulling 14 hour days and mannnnnn was the money good, but the sleep window non existent lol got a gig next month, hope it goes smooth and i do good camera work. 18:28 SO REAL and so true. gotta keep things fresh and not fall into monotony
You are inspiring. Your content gives me fuel for inspiration in my own life, keep it up please!
Well that was a satisfying end .Influencer has outdone himself for sure.
Congratulations and hope you have a lot of fun and success in your future endeavors!
I'm so so soooo glad that i go through your videos.....😊😊😊 congratulations and wish you all the best
It’s a compliment to your character that you actually made sure to have the proper amount/emergency order more ingredients for dishes. I’ve heard some “pop-up’s” that just cross it off the menu when the ingredients run out and the guest gets a “tough luck” experience.
this was awesome to watch, congratulations!!
I love the support of family, friends and budonoki for all showing up and making your efforts all the more special for guests. 500 cookies in two days!!
Chefs really work hard, good for you guys
I have done this also as an old Chef great fun to work with new staff and they always apprecited the training
Amazing video! The menu looked so delicious. I wanna pop up at the next pop-up! 😊
I play a leadership role at a startup. I resonated with so many things about your experience here. The “grindset” attitude has become so popular but I think a lot of people don’t realize that the real fulfillment of grinding your ass off comes to you when you’re able to navigate the challenges with a team and then celebrate the wins with one another. Love this vid, couldn’t be happier for you! Keep going!
true!!!! my hunch also tells me that small restaurants/businesses have similarities to start-up culture.
@@hwoo.lee I’ve seen all of your videos where you work inside a restaurant environment and it’s sort of uncanny how many parallels I’ve drawn. Really fascinating to be tbh. Either way, as someone who loves cooking but sucks at it, I love your content and am so happy to see you continue to learn and grow. Much love brother ❤️
congrats!!! such an inspiration!!!
.
It’s been awe inspiring to let us follow your epic journey!
All the food looks great dude, well done!
amazing content and series. found you on tik tok a while ago and was a bit skeptical and now can easily say it's some of the best food/overall content out there. hope the caviar bumps turned into some real ones afterwards 😂
GREAT Job!! So interesting to watch!
The journey has been incredible. Can't wait for hwoo pop up 2.0 and the evolution. Until then!
look forward to every single one of your vids, luv u
.
In reality tho, watching this journey has been so awesome, excited to see where you're going from here. On the East Coast, hoping I can try your food some day🙌
Loved this series!
I love your passion about food and cooking🤙. Not like other so-called "chef" in tiktok. You've gained an amazing experience 💪
For someone who wears all black, you sure do smile a lot !
Really good progress H woo, your videos give me so much motivation to be like as passionate as you I'm 21 and just begin my culinary journey💌
rooting for you 🫡
PROUD OF YOU!
.

This was so 🔥!!!!
Besides the inventive & beautiful dishes, I want to acknowledge the great haircuts for the pop-up. Did you all bond & go to the same barber? What a great team.
As a culinary graduate who would love to go michelin i love watching your journey
I see a post by H Woo, I CLICK FAST AF!! 😍😍
Mannnn I think you came out when I went to the restroom on night 2 💀💀💀 its all good LOL I really enjoyed the food and the vibes! It was awesome to experience the pop up and to see you in action! I was seated at the bar so I could see you pop your head out every now and then 😂 but kudos to you and the entire staff for being able to pull this off and I’m looking forward to the next one! Hopefully I’ll be able to snag a pic next time haha, congrats on the successful pop up H!
thank you!!! and you shoulda asked for me next time! i gotta say hi to Raygequit haha
@@hwoo.lee haha you bet your ass ill definitely come looking for the elusive hwoo next popup! Have fun in Tokyo man!
