  • Josh Green is a physical defender and a good athlete with high upside as a three-point shooter. After coming to the US from Australia in 2014, Green burst on the basketball scene and became one of the best players in his class. His freshman year at Arizona was rough at times but he showed enough to warrant significant interest in the mid-late first round.
    Some of Green's appeal comes from him already having a defined role in a draft full of guys who don't. Building his confidence is key to unlocking his full potential.

    Honestly i think in a long term solution for maybe the 13-20 pick team josh is good due to his athleticism which sky rockets his potential but he can also make a quick impact on a majority of teams (i think) due to his decent 3-ball and his impressive defence

    Defense remind me of jrue holiday. His shot definitely looks like it will translate to nba in catch and shoot situations. Hopefully he can develop his finishing a little more. It's always amazed me how many great athlete defenders that cant finish at the rim there are in the nba. Robert Covington comes to mind here. All that height and hops but cant finish.

    Over a year later and this scouting report is absolutely correct. He is amazing athlete and defender with high basketball IQ and a good passer, but bad at scoring. He definitely needs to improve playing with his left hand, handling the ball, shooting and attacking the rim. The best thing is that he is visibly improving at basically everything. I am very high on him and I think that he will become a good, starter level defensive wing. He just needs time.

  • @bstan4410
    @bstan4410 Před 3 lety +1

    If you're the Miami Heat and want a guard/wing: Do you take an immediate contributor in Desmond Bane or go for Green who likely will take 2-3 years to really start making an impact but no doubt has more upside? Tough decision IMO but I'm leaning a lot more towards Bane right now in this instance

      @@nickj1582 I didn't mean hes gonna be in the g-league/riding the bench for the first 2-3 years. But putting up 10+ and making winning plays down the stretch, playing in crunch time, etc. He'll need some time. There's other guys that'll be available that'll make more of an impact quicker like what I'm describing. Bane, Kira Lewis/Maxey if there, Jalen Smith, Woodard whos being slept on. Just some examples

    Mavs got him at the 18th pick but man. I really wanted/prefer Bane or Maxey. If we want a secondary playmaker I don't understand why we would pick Green over Bane but oh well

    • @dundalis
      @dundalis Před 3 lety

      Ever heard of defense? Because its the number 1 thing the Mavs needed, not shooting, not secondary playmaking. Bane has a 6'4 inch wingspan and is like 3 years older than Green. He's a great shooter, but his upside is super limited. Green has way way more defensive upside (like All NBA caliber defensive potential) and is a way better athlete. There's a reason Bane lasted till pick 30 (though I would have loved the Mavs to have gotten him at 31). Green is also not there to be a secondary playmaker, he's there as a 3&D guy. He has playmaking potential though. In terms of defending 1-3 there is not a player in the draft with more defensive upside than Green.
