Happy birthday to Chris, the Kid! Great guitarist, harmony singer and a really good guy too. Hope you make a solo record soon, thanks for the great music.
I was a Beatles-Level fangirl for Chris back in high school, and obviously still am as I am commenting. Thanks for that Vimeo link you did on him, there's nothing out there like that I have been able to find. I think if they had come out of Athens or Manchester, for example, they might have continued that early sound they had longer instead of going so soon towards liteFM
Thanks a lot for checking the vimeo link ! I'm glad you like him that much. He's certainly one of my favorite guitarists out there and tremendously underrated. Interesting view about the Athens and Manchester origins that you mention. First record was a little bit more special sounding. I never liked that fact that many reviewers refer to the band as a club or bar band or something like that anyway. I believe they belong in an 80s rock n roll vibe of their own, but the immense influence of new wave, heavy metal and other 80s genres back then got them labeled as a pop rock hit band, which in a way they are as well, but not in the simplistic manner that they refer to them. They're a very tight rhythm & rock band with great vocals and a dynamic aesthetic that is powered on by Chris's marvelous guitar style.
@@AntoniosPapantoniou He proved he could play many different styles, that's why I liked him more over the years. I just loved their potentially new wave sound from their first two albums that could have developed into a Elvis Costello/B52's type element But the truth is that the band was getting closer to middle age by the time they got full notoriety so we only got a short run of that style.
I know a lot of people hate it when the group changes direction. But what do you do as a musician? We will just make great music and if we don't make much money for our selves or the the company then that is all well and good. But people have families and houses and bills and those items require funds. I remember when I was in Grad school back in the early to mid 1980s. One of my earlier roommates was a fan of the early "Progressive Rock " band Journey. He hated that Steve Perry joined the band. He claims they sold out (to popularity)? But not only did they sell albums (admittedly) bands don't make diddly squat on that business aspect but they also sold out huge arenas. That and merchandising is where bands make their money. I appreciate Greg Rollie's contribution to Santana and Journey. He is a pretty good singer and a great keyboard/organist. But it is no way that he could compete with "The Voice": Steve Perry!
I love both.. this one I think seems like a bit more flowing and swinging out, as far as the whole guitar solo steps against the rhythm guitar.. but both cuts of Chris are great anyway..
Well, why not ? I liked how it sounded and felt like it could be played in a loop. You're right, I should have mentioned that in the title. It's now fixed ! Thanks for checking.
chris hayes is a great guitarist.
It is undervalued.
Should be rated more!
check out this video I did for Chris a few years back vimeo.com/78364409
@@AntoniosPapantoniou only one I've seen on him after all of these years, that was bitchen!
Nice!😎🤙
@@michaelcovel3793 Thanks man !
@@AntoniosPapantoniou Excellent
Is anybody enjoying the wonderful rythm guitarr played by Johnny Colla?
Certainly
So damn cool, one of the coolest Rock acts in the 80ies
Super solo
Johnny Colla was a great contributor to the band.
He made Chris sound even better than he already was

One of my early Guitar Hero’s … His Guitar Parts were always Tasteful … Chris Hayes is definitely Underrated
I've often visions of SRV secretly recording this solo
I have the same feeling
me too!
Yeah, nice bluesy vibe to it, Stevie would be digging the Kid's playing here. Chris is great.
Wowwwwwwww

@@michaelcovel3793 Yes, it's true. Basically jazz educated Hayes is. Their last good record was Hard at Play.
Chris's first guitar was a Gibson Spirit.
He got some pretty mean tones out of that guitar

This is good, but I actually prefer the original version from the non-extended mix.
why backwards? and why not put that in the video title and/or description?
