I was testing out a few characters against her in co-op to check out who was working for me. Furina was most ideal but definitely had to watch my team's health so that I could switch between healing or damage/HP drain. Noelle was okay but I have a bad Noelle who needs more investment and ER especially. Lyney actually held out pretty okay as long as he stayed somewhat close to her. His healing on his skill helped a LOT for clearing the bond of life. One wrong move though and each of them got one shot lol

The "Crimson Moon" imagery in her is not simply for the reason of it being cool (although that too).
Crimson Moon is the second to last Royal Dynasty of Khaenri'ah, which created the original "House of Hearth" (which may have had a different name) and was focused on Alchemy and Khemia
So, I really, really want her to meet Dain/Kaeya.

It's a matter of being predictable rather than consistent. One can always expect there will be a second and sometimes third layer to her words and actions when not in a professional setting. She doesn't lie, but speaks in half truths in order to give people the wrong idea about her intentions.
So basically the average Genshin player's worst nightmare.

Why is chat so surprised at Lyney being in his 20's? It's really not that shocking. I'm 5'ft and 29 years old. There's plenty of short adults with higher voices in real life, ya know? So short adults in the game shouldn't even be shocking. Why is chat like this? Ugh.

@CrimsonRainFlower yeah i'm a short male who looked young for their age, i've dealt with plenty of people over the course of my life who immediately take you less seriously because of height alone. and people who play hoyo games immediately apply this logic to characters as well. makes me think of a big twitter thread where people were acting disgusted that people found silver wolf from HSR attractive because she's "clearly" a teenager. she's young for sure, and she's a bit immature, but if the internet proves anything it's that plenty of actual adults act more childish than she does. even if they confirmed she was 30 i wouldn't really find that to be a stretch. fu xuan has a similar size and youthful look but has dialogue about "being nearly 30 by the time she (some past event)".
though if anything i blame hoyo for using models that are unsuitable to display age variance. but honestly that's just been a thing with a lot of anime styles for decades now.
It's really confusing to me as well as if they've never met shorter people before. There's a large contingent of Genshin players that have done this from the start for some reason. They assume that shorter adult model is the "teenager" model.
I'm 5'0" in my mid-30s and I've met elementary school students taller than I am. Height is not as correlated to age as people like to think it is (same with voice pitch, as you mention, especially if you take trans people into consideration) and it gets really frustrating at times in fandom seeing assumptions constantly made based on height. I definitely see it more in fandom than in real life, although it happens irl too.

That's precisely why I prefer it when some things get told and some things get shown. I kiss things easily when they're visual, and while sometimes Paimon retelling everything can be annoying, I definitely don't mind a bit of explicit storyTELLing.
Heck, it took me three rewatches of that Tingyun cutscene to realised what happened to her neck. I thought she'd just twisted the head weirdly at first...
Seeing the scene after someone points it out, it's kinda obvious that something clicked for Freminet. He's also someone who doesn't say something if he doesn't know everything, he's introverted and precise. We saw that in the fantasy event as well. The twins and Freminet are definitely strong characters with how they react to certain events

That's pure conjecture and almost certainly wrong because;
1- That's not what he noticed there. What he noticed was what he talked about immediately after about the house being strange. Why wouldn't he share such valuable information with his most trusted friends if he figured it out.
2- let's bend our backs backwards and assume you were right let's give you another plothole. How did the guy who had his memory erased remember his lover and the guys from the house still remembered they were interested in operas. The reality is that it was nothing more than a convenient plot device.
3-Ignoring all those points I just made by bending my back so hard it breaks. The story still had massive issues like Clervie calling the the knave mother not father and when they asked who her friend was they didn't ask for the most basic method of investigation of asking what she looks like and that from previous world quests that the traveler should know there's a previous knave (you and the writers forgot about that apparently) makes them not figuring out who Clervie was talking about the most contrived plot progression ever.
all in all the premise of the story was good but it was executed horribly unfortunately.

freminent was the first of the 3 to join the fatui but he was still younger than them as he joined after cervie died but before crucebena died lyney and lynette joined a few months after crucebenas death meaning that when arllecchino came to power friement was already apart of the house of the hearth and lyney and lynette joined shortly after
They don't have to be under 18 to be apart of the House of the Hearth we've seen clearly adult characters that we're agents of the house
yeah like lyudochka from the grand narukami shrine and alphonso/trofin from vimara village! i think ppl tend to forget that the house of the hearth is also an intelligence organization lol
This quest makes me remember the original of the phrase: "Blood is thicker than water." The original is: "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Literally the opposite of what people interpret it as. The bonds we choose to forge are more valuable than the bonds we have through birth.
I think this one has some of the longest and best cutscenes

If you're talking in Genshin, yeah it's pretty much one of the longest cutscene, if you're talking about Hoyo's in general cutscene, then Everlasting Flame is longer

So the part about Freminet and the former Knave is in his Character Story, starting with #4. he also has voicelines about "Mother" as well.
I really like how the devs keep adding in more small and cute dialogue animations. the triplets fist bump, lyney bumping lynettes arm with his fists, arlecchinos counting.. it makes the quest feel much smoother and i hope they'll put this much attention into more quests in the future

I started this quest thinking Arlecchino was going to show her scary side, I was not expecting being afraid of freaking random NPC Foltz. The pets, the enthusiasm with the execution, the snitching… bruh
How do you expect Freminet to connect the dots lol. There's no plot hole. He was only with the old Knave a couple months as a little kid, and he literally said none of that shit was happening when he joined. He just found out now when Arle explained it to the three of them after.
To him the old Knave was just some random foster parent he had for a couple months and again he was a very young child.
Exactly! Freminet never met Clervie, he would never know who the hell she is or the fact she's the daughter of the previous Knave. Freminet also said the old Knave stopped the fightings since the experiments ended when he joined. He never took part in any fighting that the chat thinks he is apart of and thinks that's why he has more TRAUMA than Lyney and Lynette and why he's quiet lol. Lynette says Father burned all traces of these events so they couldn't even dig up the evidence to prove what Clervie saying is true so would we really think Arlecchino just leaves Freminet alone if he knows the HOH dark past? of course not, didn't we see how quick she was to want to kill spirit Clervie for stiring chaos in the house before traveler talked her down.

For Freminet not connecting dots between Clervie and Crucabena, it's explained in the penguin event and his character story. When he was young, he used fairy tales to cope and he had two specific characters: Pers the Penguin and Princess Marcotte. Princess Marcotte was a young girl with long pink hair and often looked through windows. That's clearly Clervie's flame/ghost. He thought she was merely a character in his fairy tale. It wasn't until the incident when Clervie told him about the orphan who was poisoned that it clicked for him "Princess Marcotte could be more than my imagination". He kept her hidden and investigated on his own.
Also: Clervie only used "Mother" with Traveller once. She's consistent when using the title "Knave" and Paimon said that she was in a trance when she switched to "Mother". She never said that title with Freminet, Lyney or Lynette. I'm sure they would've questioned "Mother" but the scenario never occurred with them.

About the Freminet plot hole: based on what they were saying I think before the two weeks in Poisson people only saw her around the place sometimes or heard her voice, but they didn’t have full-on conversations with her until Poisson

No, Freminet is not older than Lyney and Lynette. He was "adopted" earlier, but they were "adopted" older.
And we already knew he was in the House under Crucabena's rule. It's been in his character stories from the start.
i can see why freminet said that he didnt notice anything happening like that during his time with the previous knave. We must remember that "Mother" raises the children by pretending to be kind and warm towards them while manipulating them, so freminet was still new at that time, so obviously he wouldnt notice anything suspicious especially since he was only under the care of "Mother" for only a few months.
Btw about the fit thing you remember the "completely useless" graphics update a couple patches ago yeah that was the preparation for this they reworked all old files reducing the storage while decreasing the graphic quality by a negligible percent due to that update

The wording used in Bennett's story is "sea of ash and flame". Same wording is used to describe Mare Jivari. Also, his appearance is similar to Natlan promo character from Travail trailer, Iansan.
16:40 House of the Hearth takes in children but it's not reeeeally an orphanage. It's an organization and a faction of the Fatui. It's a "once you're in, you're in for life!" situation and so Lyney doesn't have to be under 18 to be a part of it.

Some character quests suffer from not focusing on the character but instead some rando npc that the plot revolves around and the character needing your aid to fix the problem. Thankfully this focused all apsects of Arlecchino.
I agree, it's sad that the quest was almost entirely spoiled by the trailer+animation however
@@meiwasstruc2914I'd argue it was necessary to improve the investment of the player. Saying nothing of the fact that nobody forced you to watch the PVs. It's about the journey, not the destination, something that Genshin has tried its best to keep hammering into players since its beginnings.

@DeathkaiserG People tend to see Traveler as the protagonist of Teyvat instead of the Witness, something which has been repeated a few times up to now. We only expedite the fated solution in any region we've been in. Every single place we've been, the same solution would have occurred without us, though likely with considerably more losses.
The Traveler is the best case scenario, but not the key to victory. His place is to witness history in the making.
That's exactly the reason as to why I finished Arlecchino's Story Quest last night.

Okay, to clear up the "plothole" that has been mentioned. Clervie has never mentioned "mother" to anyone but the player. In 50:49 She actually uses "The Knave" so that's the way she usually addresses her. She also only mentions the House's secrets and says the "Higher Ups" are not as nice as they seem.
She doesn't want to say too much because she believes that no one will believe her (which was her whole experience since only Peruere knows about the House's secrets). It's only because Paimon decided to ask her why she feels that way about the House, so they can be on the same page that she actually mentioned "Mother". And it was to say how Crucabena would act like a mother (telling stories to children, ect.) but can't be trusted. Everyone else just either trusted her words or chose not to believe and never really asked why she would say that.
It is stupid that Paimon picked up on "Mother" being suspicious but decided to forget and never mentions it again because it would have cleared up the whole situation and Freminet would have known but Paimon have never been known to be reliable anyways. I would say it's a stupid plot device because the MC is stupid than a plothole. (But to be fair, Arlecchino is a woman so they had SOME reason to kind of ignore "Mother" though it is still stupid because literally everyone in the House calls her "Father")

Two things: arlecchino was there the entire time, like the fucking phantom of the opera, inside their minds; and tbh would you remember a detail like the word used for parent if you slept only 2 hours? Father being a woman is only normal to the house children, everyone else suffers from that prejudice arlecchino mentioned and when someone refers to her as mother its only weird bc we know who shes referring to. Anyone else would let the pattern brain take over (speaking broadly ofc), and paimon and the traveler are no exceptions. Arlecchino herself said that she doesnt clear up SHIT about FUCK, too because the rumours abt her help her with her job so u kno. She wouldnt correct outsiders on the whole father/mother thing either.

Also, Arle definitely has connections to Khaenri'ah, either she's born one or descendant of one, same black hands as Caterpillar, legacy of Crimson Moon (dynasty in Khaenri'ah), many references to Auge der Verurteilung, etc... Oh,. and Dain literally confirms this in her Collected Miscellany at around 2:10.

Honestly one of the top 3 character quest thus far. Not only was Arlecchino’s story flushed out but also the hearth family as well. I will say though, they honestly should’ve made her Animation short a cutscene/flashback after the boss fight, and then posted it on CZcams a week later. Whether you’ve watched the animation short before or after playing the story quest makes a huge difference.

CyYu forgetting its not a normal orphanage, its a fatui operation. like they gather intelligence for the fatui you rlly think they'd be allowed to just leave once they turn 18?
This make me wonder how powerful is our traveler because always hear how skill and strong and never really truly see it. We barely see the travelers use his powers in cutscene.

Not sure if someone mentions it in the stream chat but im pretty sure there is no upper age limit to the house of the hearth. In one of the sumeru desert quests you meet a pyro gunner who is a member of the house of the hearth and the woman who dies during the arlecchino's demo looked to be an adult too.
yeah these kids know way too many incriminating secrets, sometimes involuntarily as well, they can never be free after witnessing so many heinous acts, some even committed by themselves when they aren't even adults yet. HENCE why Arlecchino had to ask Neuvilette to not prosecute them once they are free because they will have no knowledge of their own crimes anyway, in return she will stop her own criminal activities in Fontaine.

Anyway, the quest was by far one of the best and Arlecchino surely made that Abyss easier
3:23:35 I am sorry but I think you need to understand that not everyone is the same. Freminet keeps to himself, doesn't speak unless he's absolutely certain. He didn't question her properly because he felt it was a sensitive topic. It does seem like he has an idea but just because we saw the animated short and know what happened doesn't mean Freminet does too. He was a little child and it's not like he would know everything about the house few months after joining. And while certain questions and discussions could have been made, it was generally done for the plot.
They should have released the animated short after her story quest then we wouldn't be acting so confident.
Deam Arlekino really is something. But I want to note, the Traveler is also did great, without using elements, only with a 3* toothpick and pure physical strength he brought Arlecchino to her phase 2
Based off of this scene, 3:16:32 lets say freminet is 17 right now, and he was 7 when he joined the house / right before the old knave was gonna die, so thats a 10 year difference. Arlecchino killed the old knave 1 year after clervie according to freminet which means arlecchino was 17 during that time (she was 16 when she killed clervie, she confirmed it herself), so 17+10 is 27 which means arlecchino is 27ish
Yo Cy, don't forget that Freminet had that whole thing with "loneliness syndrome" going on- maybe the reason he didn't link things is because at the time he joined the House he was in lala land
I mean ofc you forgot lol but it was explained during the "Thelxie's Fantastic Adventure" event- basically a huge metaphor for mental health issues were sufferers retreat into fantasy worlds so hard they can't tell reality from fiction. One reason why he's so unsure of himself all the time

Cy Yu said Freminet saw Clervie multiple times in the house. That's not true. He heard her multiple times until half a month ago when he finally saw her and hid her from everyone else. Clervie worded everything in the present tense because that's how she perceived the world in her ghost form. This threw off the group from ever considering the past Knave. The twins never even met the past Knave and, for Freminet, as you already explained, his mind probably wouldn't want to resurface those memories.
Crucabena might have erased all traces of Clervie when Freminet came in.

This is literally my favorite and best cutscene by far its so GOOD
In regards to the issues with the timeline, He said he didn't start to properly interact with Cleirve until they came to Poisson. And I feel the conflict was more about the members of the House who wanted to leave, rather than Cleirve's whole thing.
The house of the Hearth doesn't seem to have that age limit thing. A lot of the Fatui we've met have been from there, and they certainly look over 18
I believe part of the plot hole you mentioned was cause the short shows that Arlecchino kills Crucabena directly after killing Clervie and there was no "year time gap" where Freminet could have joined

I thought the plot hole was simple. Her spirit recently started to appear in the last few months and as Lyney/ Fremi told us, when he tried explaining that she was dead Clervie ignored or didn't understand what was being said. Also she would hide from the Knave. So my conclusion was that she would help Fremi but would appear confused when asked questions from time to time, which is why Fremi didn't much about her.

Freminet wouldn't have known as he was too new to be subjected to the worst of Crucabena's treatment. He would still be in early stages of training or still under the illusion that it was a nice orphanage. Arlecchino burned all of the files from crucabena's time so there was no way to research either. As for the father vs mother debaucle i assume it's only a plothole outside of china due to the pronounciation issue
If Freminet joined at age 4yrs old and Arlechinoo was age 17 at that time, there's 13 yrs gap between their age. So now Freminet is age 17yrs old, Arlechinoo might be 30 or 31yrs old. Hope this theory can clear the confusion.

idk if you ever figured out (as i'm typing this very early), lyney, lynette, & freminet are all over 18. yes, they are still in the House, but the House is mainly to raise Fatuis, so if a child is raised there and is an adult, they are still considered part of the house. not to mention, as said in the sq, arlecchino wants lyney to be the next "king" of the House, therefore obv she's not going to let him go so easily. also said in the sq, children cannot leave the House ever, no matter the age, unless arlecchino allows them to and wipes out their memory
also, freminet wouldn't have connected the dots because, as said in the sq, he joined between the year of clervie and crucebena's death. he states that when he joined, crucabena's experiment, which is to have the children to battle to the death to become the next "king" which arlecchino won, was over and crucabena wouldn't elaborate on it. so it wasn't that freminet pushed it out of his head out of a reaction or for fictional purposes, he was simply kept out of the dark from it all. it's also said arlecchino never told any of the children what happened when she was a kid in the HoH, so no one would know either. the fact that clervie says "mother" the whole time, it could easily be mistaken that since she is six years old (in that form), she is associating arlecchino, who is a woman, with a feminine term unintentionally. or if paid closer attention to, clervie doesn't say "mother" to the twins and freminet in front of them, only traveler and paimon

Just thinking about everything in this quest in terms of a timeline... I don't know how old Fremine and Lyney/Lynette were when joining the House, but going by the shortest timeframes available, Arlecchino could be 22 or so at the youngest. She burnt all of Crucabenas files and records, hence only 5 years of records existing. She killed Crucabena at 17, and I presume it took only days for her to be pardoned and given the title of Knave and made a Harbinger. So of course, it's possible Arlecchino has only known the children since their teen years
did anyone else realize they got better or more interactive with how the characters talk and their movements?
Commenting a bit late, but in my defense I only just thought of this - does anyone else feel that Arlecchino is almost certainly Genshin's equivalent of Fu Hua? Like, looks and VA aside, I feel like her playable release and story quest created a lot more parallels between the two that make it a whole lot more definitive.

I don't understand the overreaction to a plothole when there really wasn't any. Freminet clearly said when he joined, Crucabena's experimentation with Dottore ended so she doesn't need the kids to fight each other anymore for new "test subjects" and she never told new kids about this past because she doesn't care about divulging this terrible secret to random kids. Arle killing her was more likely a usurpation, and that's the betrayal the Rooster mentioned to Childe and spreading false info about her cus he prob hates this ungrateful kid that killed her mother after she was raised and sheltered by the Fatui. Arle then burned all these secrets so new kids wouldn't dig it up so it would make sense she will go out of her way to make sure Freminet is in the dark too. Also Clervie only mentioned Mother to Paimon and Traveler, NOT to Freminet or the twins. Sure Traveler should've told the group Clervie used the wrong title but he prob thinks a 6 yo is just as confused as he is why Arle called herself Father, and Arle never told him why even after asking her. And lets be freaking real, her beating the 4th Harbinger and being a foster parent at 17/18 is nothing compared to Childe surviving the Abyss at 14.

You also gotta consider Lyney's story quest too. When they met Caesar, that was a decade ago. And at the time they met him, they were in the house.
So she would have had to have been a harbinger for at least a decade minimum, meaning at the youngest she'd be 27.
