As a person who took archery lessons, it's normal to raise your arm like that. And yes it is to prevent injury to the chest but more often then not to the arm. (it hurts like hell when the bow string snaps against your skin)
I don't think it is true but to be sure and since you are a real archer here, Is Diona's stance while shooting (bending) actually realistic or better for hunting? 😅
Lol yeah. Tilting your hip won't make you more accurate or anything either. The normal attacks are just anime shit to look cool. The charged attacks are more realistic Archer techniques (apart from the males who hold it sideways, you need a very specific bow shape and arrow length to do that)
I thought I was the only one who was thinking this. I’ve seen tons of videos like this and I’m like nah none of you are anchoring either. The string would be more likely to slap you in the face
@@TextualHeart628 honestly original mondstadt girls are pretty close to irl archery. Atleast recurve bows. It's too flashy to be practical *IRL* where the laws of physics make it basically impossible to do while still doing damage. if a kingdom had an archer that could do those movements without missing their target, and still getting the arrows to stick deep enough, they would be considered great archers.
The "technique" they use is fantastical ofc, it's meant moreso to portray the personality of each character rather than the actual realism of using a bow (eg. diona being a professional hunter, childe still learning archery, yoimiya/lyney being performers, etc.)
I'm happy i can actually be a nerd in smthing for once. ☝️🤓 But the arm being raised is actually to help pull the bow string in a straighter way so that the arrow will go straighter not because you might hurt yourself. Infact the thing you should be careful with to not hurt is actually the ark holding the bow since the string can hit the elbow and cause a very big and painful bruise. This is coming from someone who does archery.
I do archery! My coaches emphasized the importance of keeping your hand anchored to your cheek area so the arrow shoots straight. Raising your arm with the bow draws the string back without you needing to pull it; when drawing the bow you actually don't pull with your arm- it's more of a body rotation. After that the arm is shifted into proper position so that the strain is not all on the arm (can cause injury), but spread across the back and core. Our coaches had us do a test- in proper stance you should be able to have someone press in on your arms without them collapsing inward, so a raised arm is part of that proper stance. This is all how I was taught (bare bow recurve) so I'm not familiar with other styles that may be out there. :)
Ok so: lyneys isn't actually an archery pose for what I got showed. But the rest are more of comfort then "faster" or cause of the chest. It's normal for you to have it near your chest, for that the protector. (I do the sport)
Dawg, Childe raises his arm high cause that’s how ur supposed to hold a bow, ur hand should practically be touching your cheek so it’s in line with your eye💀
Childe also THROWS the final arrow in his combo and its the highest scaling attack of his combo. It makes sense for his character to intentionally handicap himself with a doinky ass bow instead of using a spear or sword that he's clearly more familiar with since he wants to master the bow.
*Fun Fact about Childe!* He uses a bow since it’s his least used weapon, the one he knows the least about. He used it to set himself a challenge! *Also! Bonus fact (you probably know this though)* He throws his last arrow himself with his hand, and it does the most DMG!
Collei has similar archery stances to Amber, except for the last few shots where she sorta stumbles. Tighnari has stances that also focus on hunting, but with elements of evasion. Gorou uses more battle oriented positions while his last shot has him be more dog like. Venti is just showing off.
From what I have noticed its based on the character model. Short females being the same stance, tall females being the same stance, short males being the same etc. Venti, Lyney, Gorou Tignari all have thr same stance despite all being from different nations. Then each character has a slightly different attack pattern from there
Theres also a bigger point missing. Most of the archers use Asian Martial art style of drawing vs western style. China, korea ans Japan have a high draw stance where the rotate their drawing arm up and high. Where a western bowman draws from a downward and up position.
Childe is worried about hurting himself? Please... Also, Childe is the only one who literally THROWS the arrow with his hands on his last attack. The world isn't ready for my guy
No one at hoyo had even even picked up a bow, and you can tell. I bow hunt yearly with a compound, and can shoot a long bow or recurve almost as well. If you held your bow like anyone from teyvat but Sethos, you would: 1: miss 2: look like a tool 3: hurt yourself. Any proper recurve like in genshin has a minimum of 40 - 45 lbs of draw force. Your arms are strongest close to your body, so holding a bow away from yourself like almost everyone does in genshin is a great way to pull a muscle. Alright, lets say you trained that way and are able to fire a bow accurately while not looking down the shaft (which is how you aim a bow without sights on it). You will still have the issue of side loads on the arrow, bow limbs, and string. Bows are built to move back and forth, not at an angle like it would be in redebly easy to do not holding it properly. The PROPER way to hold a bow is the 3 point anchor. Nock in hand or in release, string lightly touching tip of nose with arrow down line of sight, and arm fully extended forward with elbow locked and shoulder level. You might thing "its a game, who cares!" Or "dude its not that serious!" But it very much is. To the untrained eye, bows seem easy and harmless, but they can seriously hurt or kill you. I want you to get a scale and pull it apart with 50 - 65 lbs of pressure and homd it for 10 secones. That amount of energy is stored in the string and limbs. A string snap could lead to the limbs exploding firing shrapnel into you. Properly displaying how to do something is important when it comes to something that can seriously maim or kill. I dont want folks to go out and buy a bow just to hurt themselves
