Hotel Costa Verde, Allan Templeton

Our phoenix is the most exclusive hotel suite in Costa Rica. We have refurbished a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 airframe, which in its prior life shuttled globetrotters on South Africa Air and Avianca Airlines (Colombia). This fully outfitted, meticulously detailed, two bedroom, Boeing 727 fuselage suite jets out from the jungle canopy, affording you views that will make you feel like you’re flying.
El Avatar was invented by Buddy Quattlebaum, who after a series of adventures in the United States and Mexico ended up camped out at a 5,000-acre nature reserve in Kissimee, Florida, called Forever Florida. He had just built two patented inventions for the park: El Avatar, as described, and a tamer combo called the Canopy Bike that featured a bicycle-like contraption with a motor, also on a zipline.
“I wanted to make a zipline bend and curve, since ziplines have become a popular ride,” said Quattlebaum, who worked a long time to create these attractions. “Every engineer I knew told me it was impossible to do what I wanted. It was hard; it took me two years and a lot of prototypes to finally get a real ride.”
We salvaged this airframe from its San Jose airport-resting place. We carefully transported the pieces on five, big-rig trucks to the jungles of Manuel Antonio where they have been resurrected into a unique jumbo hotel suite. Our classic airplane, nestled on the edge of the National Park in our Costa Verde II area, is perched on a 50-foot pedestal. At this height, you will enjoy scenic ocean and jungle views from the hard wood deck built atop the plane's former right wing.
In August 2000, we purchased the abandoned Fairchild and shipped the pieces of the Iran-Contra relic to Quepos. The fuselage was shipped via ocean ferry because it was 10 inches too wide for the antiquated Chiquita Banana railroad bridges! After hauling seven sections up the Manuel Antonio hill, the C-123 finally found its current cliff-side resting-place.
Now, our C-123 has been retired to less risqué endeavors as a restaurant, bar and an enduring Cold War relic. Join us for food under the wings or drinks in the fuselage pub!

Allan Templeton is truly a gift to this world! He has such a beautiful soul inside and out...You will see this when you see the beauty in his works on his property. He is down to earth and truly unique in the way everyone feels but never puts into action! Such a pleasure to stay at his magnificent Costa Verde property and even more of a pleasure to meet and greet with him. Thank you Allan Templeton! I'm going to take you up on that 2yr Spanish Education and see where it leads me, Maybe back to Costa Rica, maybe not😉Your a true blessing to this world...Thank you for letting/helping me see the Beauty♡Pura Vida♡!

I was going through some old (really old) things and found Allan's business card. I met him one day in Costa Rica. I was staying in Manuel Antonio for a few days, not much of a plan. I popped into one of his bars/restaurants during a torrential downpour. He was there. Hope he and his projects are doing well.
