    Hi Dave the magnet idea is good but to add to it pop it in a plastic bag then you can turn it inside out to capture the filing to bin them. Lovely.

    Can you do a test piece where you weld 2 bits together and then paint them with the etch primer and leave that outside for the liquid sunshine to test 😂

    Since finding ur channel months back I’ve only been using the Halfords weld thru primer myself. I’ve actually left a test bit of steel outside the past couple weeks with Halfords weld thru on one half and some red oxide on the other to see how they preform against each other..

    Thanks Dave that was a great 'real time' demo and great close up camera work. I'm in the process of restoring a classic mini and so watch some of the mini restoration utube channels, unfortunately I find most disapointing as they rush through everything on time lapse with the camara so far away that nothing is revealed. BTW I've watched your channel since you started it, keep up the good work.

      Thanks 😊, all the best with your Mini, fab little cars.

      Same with most channels, it's the bits you want to see that get skipped🙄
      Dave has more talent than most of us, it's harder to do right than it looks for us mere mortals 😊

    The audio seemed a bit low on this one, Dave, struggled to hear it in places.

    Great content as always, and good to see an update on the Halfords primer.
    I like the idea of using a magnet to hold the clamp, will be using that trick.
    How come you're using just CO2 rather than CO2/Argon mix which seems to be generally preferred on thin material?

    • @DavesGarageuk
      @DavesGarageuk  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi Christee, I've always used just co2, easier and cheaper to get refills.

      @@DavesGarageuk That's fair enough then, knew you'd have good reasoning behind it.

    Must be the zinc used as a conductor in the Halfords weld through primer is also acting sacrificially to protect the steel panel below. Would you need an etch primer to avoid a reaction with any subsequent paint application? Amazing that it has sat outside for two years weathering in all that Welsh rain we can hear in the background without failing!

    • @DavesGarageuk
      @DavesGarageuk  Před 7 měsíci

      That's my understanding. It's much better than I expected, and that's without a top coat keeping out moisture
