  • Thanks for watching! And a special thanks to all the creators who made this video possible, it would have taken ages to start a new save and go through and record all the gang encounters for this video, so using clips from their recordings helped a bunch. I've left the watermarks for their channels in the footage but here are the CZcamsrs who were included:
    Cad5150
    AshwinY
    Free State Productions
    Point Zero
    Fizhy
    Zander Aesthetics

Why the Del Lobos are GOAT'ed:
Del Lobos have the most hideouts, and are by far the richest, you can tell by looting the hideouts. Based on how many men are in each hideout and how rich they are, they probably have a stronger grip on New Austin than the state itself does.
They are the last massive gang of outlaws in RDR, the Murfrees and Skinners are unorganized maniacs on a rampage, the Laramies have one ranch and the O'Driscolls are wiped out before Epilogue. Now the Lemoyne Raiders are definitely more powerful, but at this point they are massive enough to be a rebellious militia against the United States, not just a gang.
In the end, the Del Lobos were probably the last gang to be wiped out of the 5 remaining in RDR2, being large enough to either adapt to the modern age and resort to a more organized sort of crime, or retreat deeper into Mexico and prolong their collapse

I'd assume most all of them would have become the banditos we see in Neuvo Paraíso (and Tesoro Azul) after Armadillo came back from it's cholera outbreak. Making good on their threat to burn down Tumbleweed and get the hell out of dodge. Which I'd also presume is why we see bollard twins, treasure hunters, walton's, ect in the place of all of their old hideouts.

To me, Del Lobos are by far the most exciting gang, due to their link to the first game spaghetti western vibes. When i used to play rdr2 online, i created a latin character and called it "El Bandito", and created a posse called "Los Vagos Banditos" refering to gta V/SA mexican gang, and played as it was small branch of Del Lobo gang, always taking pictures with my friends at their gang hideouts. I also have a theory that Del Lobos are Linked to Tumbleweed's fall on rdr1 story, as a revenge for the local Sheriff hunting down their former leaders. Probably they were no more at the time of the first game because of internal disageements, dividing them on many other small groups just Known as "Banditos" on rdr1. It would be awesome if rdr2 had a story dlc with Javier Scuella at New Austin/Mexico explaining just what happened between those two games, but sadly we know it will never happen. It's also so sad that at the standard game we received a pratically empty New Austin, but atleast we had Del Lobos hideouts to make It a little funier, remembering how the first game was.

I love the O’Driscolls for two reasons. Number one their story significance and Number two their Irish. As an Irish person myself it was funny to see these guys with their green matching uniforms. They have the best outfits and the best gang hideouts. Colm doesn’t have the charisma that Dutch has. He’s sees his men more as soldiers than people. Which mirrors Dutch in Chapter 6. He doesn’t care who lives or dies as long as he lives and prospers. It was very satisfying seeing Colm suddenly transition from confident that he was going to be saved from his hanging to absolutely petrified and terrified when he saw Dutch and Sadie and Arthur on the rooftop. They are also important because they are the first gang we see. We eliminate them all at Hanging Dog Ranch which is why we don’t see them anymore in the open world. They have the most varied and prominent random encounters as well.

Realism? Those white guys were veterans of the Spanish American war. They would have fought against Spaniards and Cubans. They 100% would have formed their own group rather than joining a Mexican gang. The Mexican gang, made up of peasant-class bandits near the US border, would not let them into their gang. Both of these groups would have resented each other irl and could never work together as a single group. There is also a linguistic barrier.
The Del Lobos are probably the most unrealistic part of this game. Rockstar complete ignored the social attitudes of the time when they made them because they didn’t want to portray a Mexican gang in a bad light.

  • @farcy3insanitymeme

I really like the Del Lobos, not even just because of their bandito aesthetic but because of all they did for New Austin in RDR2. They're the main thing you can fight down there, Tumbleweed's bounties and characters being like a shining city on a hill for content in the LARGEST STATE IN THE GAME. Thieves' Landing, Fort Mercer, and Gaptooth Breach providing the only semblance of content in the area. For a region who doesn't even have it's own soundtrack, the Del Lobos (and Sheriff Freeman) are the only saving graces for the thousands of work hours poured into working on the state.

They have a basic map of mexico and a lifeless but fully made map of new austin. If they implement some features from RDR2 it would be really good as long as they dont fuck it up but also i dont like the idea of encouraging companies to remaster games that arent even that old and are still close enough to modern gaming. It could lead to a similar situation to the movie industry where remakes dominated the industry for a while. Would love to see it and would love to play it but besides a PC port its mostly unnessecary and may have overall bad effects even if done well on the state of the gaming industry.

Oddly enough I actually *did* encounter the O'Driscolls in the epilogue.
Two of them outside the main saloon. I even saved a capture of it on my Xbox because it was just so odd. It was on my first playthrough, but I was under the impression that they were eradicated.
I haven't seen them since in any other playthrough, so I'm pretty sure it was a glitch. Still, it was interesting to beat up the last two members of the gang as John.

My one dissapointment in the game is no fierce Indian fighters. There's the Sioux equivalent, but I would have loved to see the Comanche or Apache fighters.
You change my mind on the Lemoyne Raiders. I didn't think they were that big of a deal, but they are. Like Jesse James and the Southern sympathizers of the day, and today, are a real thing.

I really like the weird woodsman vibe of the Skinners, and they seem more "professional" or skilled than the Nightfolk and Muffree Brood because of their survivalist thing. Lemoyne are just rather well organized and i like how much equipment they pack. Del Lobos are banditos, everyone loves banditos, how i wish they put the RDO ponchos in sp.

The lemoynes are also my favorite but more because they also have an end (for the area you are in at least) you basically single handidly force them to move to Texas apart from a few stragglers. I also love to hate them cause in chopter 2 I got a 5 dollar bounty in Saint Denis because a wagon ran into a wagon I had taken from them and I was confused. Pressed the surrender button, was too late, got shot and killed by 50 lawmen.
