    for a well known artist. When I was in the back stage alone checking guitars and getting ready for the show a man walked in
    with a big aluminum guitar case. He asked me if I could take care of Willie Nelson's guitar.
    When I open the case it was "Trigger"! I was pretty excited for sure. I was with the guitar for all afternoon until
    show time. I handed Trigger to Willie on the stage, and Willie took it saying thank you with a beautiful smile.
    He did solo, and it was great. I did put my finger prints all over Trigger though.

    Willie Nelson, like it or not, is a brand, and however sincere and genuine he is, what he represents to his audience is the reason they keep supporting him, he's no different from any other artist. His fans share his tastes, his values, and his opinions to some degree. The Guitar is a part of the brand, it is uniquely symbolic in a crass industry of excess. It represents loyalty and tradition. The message of that guitar, whatever it is to the individual fan, is part of the reason Willie Nelson is "Willie Nelson". I say more power to both of them.

    • @davidschmidt6013
      @davidschmidt6013 Před 2 lety

      "he's no different from any other artist". Wow. Are YOU underinformed. Willie was one of the first artists to stand up to the Nashville powers-that-be, in terms of artists rights and their choices concerning concerts, song content (topics) and attire. He stayed true to his ideals for YEARS in the face of all kinds of pressures. He's done more for charities than about 10 other arrtists I could name combined. Today, SOME artists are so fake, so pre-fabricated by the industry that they look like plastic dolls. Not worth listening to.....kinda like some little girl's self-inflated opinion of what Willie Nelson "means".

      Could you point out one word I said against Willie Nelson or his character or his good works? Because I never said that. In fact, I described him and his fans as valuing loyalty and tradition. You certainly proved his fans are loyal. I didn't say his music and character weren't very fine, I said that like any other artist, he derives support from what he represents to his audience. Plainly you support him because he represents something very powerful to you.

    That makes me happy to hear the guitar isn't just an instrument and just replace it. It's an like extension to them, a friend you know better than everyone and that shows when he tried a different one that's like it but he didn't like it when you find your guitar it's your guitar, and nothing will ever take it's place it's not the set up that makes it feel like it theres a far deeper connection to it that is has to be there in the beginning then it becomes that guitar you love forever and you want to do everything in your power for it to keep going. I feel the same with my guitar it's mine and what i want to do with it I WANT to do with it people tell me "it's not worth the work" to me it is, because it's the only one like to me and it's priceless to me. If everyone wants to only work on the 59 Gibson's well the ones that are worth 50k because it's worth it, to me you lost sight of what the guitar is. Work always comes to play right yeah i get it it's tough work yeah and thier argument is your not a luthier and it takes years to get right, so does playing the guitar if every guitarist knew or fixes thier guitar well there's no need for luthiers then but people do that because yeah they care for the guitar much more and want to keep many going. There is a point of diminishing returns right can't fix one of the body turned to splinters am i right but the simple things that can even if it's only preservation and just strengthening the instrument. Always try that's all, most guitars are very important to someone in some way.
