@@benkenon I get that. However, he is the one who wore it out. It's his story that guitar tells. Nobody else's. Makes no sense for anybody else to play it because of that. I don't understand custom shop guitars as well. Why take a perfectly new guitar and beat it up and make it look old just because you want it to look like Willie Nelson's guitar? Why not buy a new one and create your own story. Just because a guitar has been beaten up and not taken care of does not mean you should leave it that way. Restore it and give it a new life and let someone create a new story on top of the story that already exist? That's just me. I would never want to play an ugly instrument.

For some reason and speaking strictly as a guitar-maker and repairman for years I have seen countless butcherized SG's on my workbench with many of these being in worse shape than this one...
For some reason Les Pauls, 335's, Flying V's, Explorers, Firebirds, etc... are rarely messed with but it's okay to mess up with SG's... Maybe it's because they're more affordable and less luxurious than Les Pauls so it's no big deal 😄😄

You don't make sense. How can you evaluate craftsmanship and technical understanding if you don't have any. It's a paradox.

Congratulations for the repair and recovery of a wonderful Gibson SG... But how was it possible to reduce it to these conditions???

Such a shame you didn’t keep the beautiful natural wood grain and covered it in clay paint. :(

I like the way you positioned the sticks in a four way pattern, so it gives you a centre hole for the screw.

Good job on the restoration! My only positive critique is that I wish you would have put a better nut on it and also a complete overhaul of the wiring and potentiometers would have done wonders for the guitar...maybe thicker gauge strings as well...again, all just input my friend. Thanks for making the video again and for demonstrating techniques for guitar restoration!!!

Oooowww! My lucky day! I saw a black tele you did so I clicked this one since I have an SG in dire need of a treatment like that and I think I can just follow this video hehe! I've done a few guitars already which should help. This SG now ... had a mean previous owner or something. I have no clue what's been done to it but I need to get rid of any and all "surtface material" all the way down to the wood. So now I have a plan to follow! :D

that's a personal preference though. I have a Gibson with pours and I wouldn't want them filled. I don't love the color, but I love how meticulously everything was cleaned and brought back to life!

My “OCD” inclination would be to mark each part and put it back in the exact same place. Maybe not down to pickguard and control cover screws, but just about everything else. 😎🎸
