  • Each year, December 22nd is celebrated as the National Mathematical Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of the self-taught genius - Srinivasa Ramanujan whose work continues to intrigue, inspire and challenge mathematicians around the world. His fertile mind envisioned a world where science and mathematics converge to uncover fundamental principles governing our universe. Nearly a hundred years after his death, mathematics has slowly developed tools that are unraveling some of the secrets behind his intuitive suppositions. His oeuvre has opened up new vistas of possibilities, new branches of mathematics have sprouted and proliferated and found application in different fields of sciences, implausible in his own times. The Film brings together his life on screen, with period enactments, interviews and animation.

I am not from India, nor am I a mathematician, but I do like to see myself as a creative type otherwise. I have been fascinated by Ramanujan since I first became aware of him. I am particularly interested in the source of his inspiration. Perhaps Nanagiri is the embodiment of intuition. Having read the Mahabharata (twice) as a Westerner I would not argue it. The source of creativity lives everywhere and has many names, but it is required that we, as human beings, will listen.

You say it was his intuition but don't know how he got it? When he was asked about it, he said that it was all the blessings of Lakshmi Narasimha. Imagine if he had access to the existing knowledge of the time on mathematics! It's like he arrived on the same conclusions as people in past but independently so in a way he discovered it again, but no matter how astounding that sounds, it makes me sad that essentially time spent in discovering those things must have been ample. The critical time that he could have utilized in discovering wonders. A rare genius.

Some of notebooks he carried to England along with his work done there, were never to be found. His personal diary was infact allegedly stolen by the British military at the height of the world war who were extremely interested in his work. The humble Ramanujan never contested. His lost work detailed work on Vedic sciences of Fractals, predictive modelling of string theory, mandalas of microcosm and macrocosm like the fractal Sri Yantra. Ramanujan’s deep understanding of cosmic consciousness, fractal connectivity of the cosmos, Akashic memories, Portals, Fractal effect on Gravity for the Theory of everything, were reflected in his lost i.e. stolen work.
Ramanujan was propagandised as a frail and weak man, with siblings who had died very young due to a weak gene pool. It was sad that the British university was not able to provide for him with basic vegetarian needs and instead make him look weak for their lack of hospitality. It is obvious, all they wanted was his work, but they couldn't get all of it as the genius of Ramanujan lies in his fractal mind.

Should have a video on Namagiri and how to do puja.
Westeners admire Ramanujan but we dont even bother to learn the name of Ramanujans Deity.
If westerners seek excellence in mathematical research, perhaps worship of Namagiri would help...
Of if not able to do puja, perhaps westeners could pay a Brahmin boy to do it for the next life.

First time on viewing this valuable video, I could realize what would have been if our Indegeneous Genius Late Sir Srinivasa Ramanujan worked on Psychoanalysis, the RamanujanMachine in London is tremendous and stands a Legacy even today as a tribute to the magnitude of his threshold in Concept!...

Mathamatics Genious Srinivasa Ramanujam is beyond colour caste creed religion and country. He is the personification of Vedic verse Vasudaivika Kutumbakam i.e. world is a family. But sadly neither our countrymen had recognised him nor our Universities. But Western Mathematicians recognised him and the Cambridge University where our Universities failed so literarily. That is why he went abroad where the climate was not suitable to him. His orthodoxy too played havoc in his health. His early marriage lack of money resources etc. also played tremendous pressure to him nay health. But it is mystery that after his funeral somebody took lot of loose papers in a box and vanished. This is his last days inventions. This was revealed by no less person than his widow in number of occasions, who struggled to meet both ends of her life. At days Mrs Janaki Ramanujam lived on the Prasadams received from famous Parthasarathy Temple, Thiruvallikkeni, Chennai. My heart breaks on his life and also that of his widow. Like Mahakavi Bharathi, Ramanujam too glorified in our country after very long years after his passing away.

Fantastic documentary. Congrats. What I am aware of writing on a slate was, one used a stone to scratch on it. These marks were not indelible. They could be easily rubbed off with the hand. Blackboard chalk was not used. In many cases the slate was not framed.

India, you don't need to reiterate the contribution that you have made to mathematics. The British Empire was an evil institution and its subjugation over India in no means belittles India's importance in mathematical exploration.
