I really hope that people stop hating on the people in the video because this is one of the first videos I’ve seen that is more honest about the reality of Korea, and I worry that the hate people get in this video might be taken into consideration the next time someone makes a video on Korea and others will be wary of being entirely truthful because they’ll be worried about getting hated on. The people who clicked on this video clearly wanted truthful and honest opinions so it’s time to be respectful when disagreeing with them in the comments, please have a little empathy that some people in the video were not raised the same as you and therefore do not have the same knowledge as you about the world and it’s important to treat them with care as well and hope that they will try to make an effort to learn more.

as a south korean, I agree with him. it's true that many koreans like white, bright, or clean skin (especially about women), but clean skin matters than skin color. Also surely, there are koreans who like darker skin too and many koreans don't have pale skin either! 🙂 and i have darker skin as a SK woman. (but korean women tend to try to have more white/bright skin..) and all skin color should be respected. i think koreans don't discriminate by skin color, but if you have white or clean skin, especially as a woman, many koreans who like white skin will like it. that's all..!

Koreans have fairly light skin by default so people who have darker skin get it by getting tanned which inevitably comes other kinds of sun damage like freckles and uneven skin tone. That's why Koreans think of pale and clear almost equivalently. They come together. If korea had been multi ethnic for some time we would've differentiated those two more clearly but these perceptions are generated by Koreans looking at other Koreans

There is a reason why states worldwide separate from the church. Thank God for the strength he gave to people who at some point decided that they had enough abuse and mistreatment. Thank God for civil movements and revolutions, because thanks to those acts today Human Rights exist. Which they also enjoy and protect equally.

This is the same as that - no worse than wearing makeup, and but nobody sees wearing makeup as problematic because everyone does it, it's normalised. This is just a different method that western people are not used to. And by the way, the 'white' skin thing in Korea comes from a completely different circumstance and history to the traditional western 'racist against people with black skin' thing. They loved her and she loved them. I asked her what her first impressions were bc in america, a lot of ppl r shy around black folks out of fear. But she said she was shy
but not for the same reasons. She said black ppls perception in corea is that they are cool, ladies men, etc. So it was more starstruck type ish. And that was the first time I heard of a perception of black ppl being widely positive. Ur friends echoing that is so on point.
I get the clear skin thing being the main thing. But i do think pale is a positive factor as well. BUT pale has only been popping in corea for like a decade. In the 90s and 00s they were all tan. Like Brazilian type skin. But they still liked it clear. So the pale thing is i think just the beauty standards evolving like anywhere else in the world. When i visit corea i see plenty of tan ppl and ppl married to african immigrants, etc. I think the bottom line is the clear skin/healthy/taking care of yourself. I DO think pale got way popular at the same time. But tan skin is still a preference too.

Real reason a lot of Koreans prefer light skin:
It’s a symbol of wealth. Back in the day, only rich people had pale skin. They could afford skin-whitening creams/makeup and could afford to stay indoors all day. They didn’t have to go outside and had umbrellas to cover themselves and protect themselves from sunlight. The poor people had dark skin because they had to be outside all day, working in the rice fields. They were subjected to the harsh sun without any protection, thus they tanned.

Even these days you see so many examples of people showing off their wealth & status on tiktok & other social media. Kids these days may not make the same connection consciously but they've just grown up with paler skin often being seen associated with beauty.
This is the same with any kind of beauty standard in any country or time period. Why are hour glass figures considered sexy? Beards? Remember when metal corsets were a thing? I love getting their honest perspectives, even if I disagreed with them. I'd rather have honesty. On the question of Gays, I would like to share with your friends from Korea that, as a Christian someone get mixed up on this:discussion. We are called loved everyone as a Christian and not to set ourselves up as anyone's judge and jury..So, it's a Christian's goal to love others as we love ourselves. All people should be welcomed, kept safe and loved etc... I have lived as a Christian my entire life and I have known many Gay people, which include children during my childhood, they were just another friend or neighbor. They were not not picked on and I grew up in Chicago. My mom also thought it was important to be with around people that did not look like you, so I went to a n integrated nursery school, what people call Preschool all the way through to grade school.
Even our sports, and hobbies were integrated. So, I have been friends my whole life with friends who were from different nationalities and I love it. As Asian friends goes I've had, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino and I was the manager of a couple of Korean, but I did not know them on a personal level. I actually had more in common with my Asian friends than I did with my Black or White friends because my mom was very education focus and walking the straight and narrow, (a tiger mom) so we shared similar experiences and bond over them. I guess it worked since She and her 4 children all graduated from college. My son is a high achiever too, but I parent very different!
I started watching Kdramas about 2 yrs ago and I love them for so many reasons and thus I became interested in the Korean culture and I follow several Korean influencers on CZcams. I also love seeing people of color or African- Americans living there and sharing their lives and friendships. I can't wait to visit and soak up the different cultures and sites. People are people as long as you lead with respect and love. Thank you for doing this video. I learned so much and your friends seem lovely and open.ê°ì‚Źí•©ë‹ˆë‹€

As a Christian as well we are taught to be accepting and loving of everyone regardless. No sin is greater then the other so if he doesn’t go around gay people because he sees it as a sin not only should he not judge because judging is a sin within it self but he should also self reflect because I’m sure he’s not perfect he probably cusses it’s clear he also judges gay people. You are just as bad. Cutting someone off or fully avoiding them because they are sinning is judging them based off that. we all have our own journey we’re on to be better Christians even he himself is. You can’t play the role of god and judge others when that directly goes against gods word. What you do in the situation instead is pray for them and show them kindness and fair treatment because you are not above anyone. We should be loving and accepting of everyone regardless. If you were to cut off and not talk to any sinner you’d be left with no one on earth. So cutting a person off because they are gay is not only hypocritical but contradicting as well. I hope he learns from this and reads up on what being a Christian truly is because he’s directly thinking and acting against it but uses it as a justification to act that way.

So if you are judging someone for sinning but also sinning yourself that’s indeed not judging correctly because that is hypocritical and contradicting. Jesus didn't teach against judging. He taught against a specific kind of judging. The type of judging he spoke against was a blind, ignorant, hypocritical, self-righteous judging that overlooks one's own faults, failures and sins and only sees faults, failures and sins in other people. I think it is true, largely due to the co-opting of hip-hop, that the younger generations are less racist, but there are still racist young Koreans and there are still a lot of older racist Koreans.
Dark skin is associated with manual labor, which is looked down on; the three Ds: Dangerous, Dirty and Difficult. Some Koreans, like in many countries, look down on people in such jobs, not just foreigners doing those jobs. The racism against other Asians in those jobs in Korea is pervasive. Korean culture is changing, but has not fully changed. (And, yes, these things exist in pretty much every country to some degree or other.)

      Leviticus 20:13
"If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have
committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense."
So that is his faith and there’s no point in him being a Christian if he doesn’t believe in The Word of God. We are taught to abide by The Word and not to pick and choose what suits us.
