We make it a priority to find balance between the homestead chores & fun, quality family time! Today we took the day off from working & went hiking up Hatcher Pass with the boys & the pups. The mountains were breathtaking & the wild ALASKAN blueberries we harvested were delicious! On the way down the mountain, we stopped in to tour the old Independence gold mine. Alaska is full of history & endless beauty. And the wild bounty never disappoints! Thanks for joining us for another video. Cheers!

One of my favorite things is hopping in the truck and just going...going anywhere. But in Alaska, there's always something to see. As the day got later, we realized we had been out ALL day with the boys. Taking in the mountain air & the breathtaking scenery. It was a wonderful, relaxing day. When we had the farm back in Virginia, we worked hard. We worked more than we played...and it caught up to us really fast. We vowed to never homestead like that again. Balancing homestead chores & quality family time is soooooooo important. So today, that's what we did. We hiked gorgeous Hatcher Pass, toured Independence Gold Mine & picked some wild Alaskan blueberries! Thanks for joining us on our day out! What's your favorite thing to do with blueberries?!😋
My favorite is eating blueberries fresh, in muffins or in pancakes.

Oh my goodness, I think this was one of my favorite videos. You have such a gift for filming and showing us beautiful Alaska. The boys are learning so much and are going to grow up so well rounded and mature young men. I loved when Kellan said he learned so much and that it was fun. Parker was so darn cute when you asked about his lips!! I honestly didn't want the video to end. Thank you all for taking us along on your adventures. Bradley and Gunner had a great time as well. Absolutely phenomenal views. God really showing off there! 💜 in the comment about the Homesteading is so true there’s times when I’ve lost my joy because there’s so much work to do. I really do try to stop and take it all in the beauty of our farm. It’s hard to see it without the work that has to be done..

Joe found the "mother load" of blueberry bushes! I used to live not far from there, Palmer side. My X worked at the Independence mine. It was in the 1980's and off and on depending. The newer mine is on the Willow side of the pass. There is a big bunkhouse we used to stay in for kicks. It's beautiful there. I miss it.
Aw yes! We picked berries on the Palmer side. The mine was really neat, the boys enjoyed it!☺️
