@Academy of Ideas Great information, but you're reading far too quickly for material of this complexity. This is unpleasant because it doesn't allow the viewer to fully grok the meaning without stopping periodically to rewind. This unpleasantness will certainly decrease your views/subscribes. Keep up the good work, but without the rush. Think graceful, perhaps stately.

@fynes leigh what you mean is, the discovery of what's behind those masks demands the hardest work one can do; to focus entirely on the self with no distraction.
although everybody knows that there is divinity even in just pursuing this goal; most people will choose to dream and repress their guilt about it and hope some kind of god (actually any higher level of consciousness to believe it exists) will forgive them and bring salvation.
from time to time this belief shutters, and it is the moment where we can finally start working hard, but we will lose focus again, through stimulants that other people (or people in our minds) call us back in.

Some succint bullet points to analyze:
    - There's more to our beings and to whom we are than just our Persona, the mask we socially project.
    - There's more to know about ourselves and our unconscious than just what the Ego knows.
    - Accepting one's shadow is crucial to a better development of the Self, withdrawing qualities that are hidden and repressed that one wishes to integrate within us in a healthier way and are dying to come out.
    - What we look for in a lover, friend or family member of the opposite sex is possibly a reflection of our Anima/Animus. But I'm still digesting this one out, I suspect most our 'crushes' are overlapping in qualities with our own Anima/Animus, thus we draw ourselves to those people.
    - The true self is a never ending journey of alignment and acceptance and even self-awareness of all these bullet points and more.

The transition to adulthood is a big one and is normal to change drastically. I find more productive to use Jung's teachings inwards. It's hard to even know ourselves. It's generally unproductive to guess what's going on through other people's journey.

The work that Jung did making symbolic connections and their relevance regarding the way that they fit together is remarkable. For me, though, I look for information that I can employ to my personal life. Over the past forty years I have made amazing discoveries about how all of us are basically Pavlovian Creatures who have been programmed from conception and right up to the present. I was able to break three psychological codes that had me by the throat. Once I saw that we humans really have no free choice and that are choices are based on prior input, I was able to transform my myself to a much higher level. I am now 48 years into the most rewarding level of my life.
When you look around and see that many people self-destruct In spite of fame, success, money and power, you begin to see that they are not in charge of their lives. Their hidden emotional wounds do them in.
The most important act that everyone should be doing is deprogramming yourself from past experiences that determine our bad choices. Find a way to connect the dots. It is possible. I have done it. I have lived an amazing life.

I'm only 19 but I think I've realised the same thing; in that we give away our free will to be 'programmed' by the society to avoid emotional pain. I think the trauma from my mum's side (my great grandmother was abused by the Irish Catholic Church in her childhood) has also helped my entire family to conceal our inner pain through neuroticism. I'm going to start seriously examining my life and I'm not going to stand by and let myself be dragged around by my emotions anymore.

@@illusion5342 Okay… here is what I have learned from my life experiences.
      WE ARE ALL PAVLOVIAN PEOPLE.
Unfortunately we are all governed by our programming from conception and through right up to the present. This is the blueprint that determines all of our choices in life until we are able to deprogram ourselves. There are no free choices in life because we are all basically Pavlovian People. We must cut the strings that make our decisions for us. I have been able to do this and it has transformed me. Does this make any sense to you? I know that it is hard to believe that we are not in control of ourselves but adhere to a programming code that we get from our experiences in life. And we act on what we have learned from the past. It is our only frame of reference. Fortunately for me, I broke some of the coding and the quality of my life improved dramatically. Here is a video where I reveal some of this hidden coding. Notice that the interviewer had the very same problem I was describing. You will not find this information in the works of Freud or Jung or anywhere else that I know of.

I hope the academy of ideas covers some topic on Hindu/Buddhist (Eastern Philosophy)
Jung reads just like the Mandukya Upanishad. Similarly Nietzsche's work wa influenced by Schopenhauer who in turn was influenced by Indian texts.
When Swami Vivekananda addressed his lectures in the west in 1890s, his audience were T.S.Eliot,Sigmund Freud, Nikola Tesla, Alan Watts,Christopher Isherwood, Romain Rolland etc. Even Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a translation from Sri Aurbindo's planes and parts of being.
And earlier both Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson never denied theinfluence of Hindu philosophy in their outlooks and legacy.
The whole of Psychology stands on the back of the Upanishads.
I hope India's contribution is duly appreciated some time.

The kpop boyband that your niece always listens to is called BTS. They always give deep meanings or theories into the lyrics of their songs, choreographies and MV's that connects with their storyline. They are finally ending the "love yourself" era and starting in a new era called "Map of the soul persona". Also this is why so many ARMYs are watching this vid because they are trying to understand the whole new era for the theories in their storyline.

I had a strange dream that I'm trying to decode the meaning of, and this seems like an appropriate space for it, i guess?
My girlfriend and I were navigating through rooms and hallways in our own home, but not our current home. The lighting was largely comprised of deep blue hues. We seemed to be having a good time, and connecting with each other all along the way: through one door was my current bedroom. Upon entering, I grabbed a stupid collectors katana, and the bathroom door slowly opened illuminating the total darkness. Her standing roughly 8 feet from the door, gets impaled through her collarbone with a cliche reaper scythe. As I hear her choke on her own blood, all of my movements are stripped of their conviction, assuming there was any in the first place, and as 2 dark figures appeared from the doorway, i was overcome with the realization that I too had been struck.
That's when I woke up. I think the dream entails the consequences of my nonchalant approach and attitude towards life, and operates as a metaphor representing my inadequacy and tendency for inaction, and it's ability to destroying all I deem important.
Thanks for reading this, if you did.

An astute observation. Just to add what I feel from reading this:
You don't feel that you are in control of yourself and am afraid it will make your gf, the love of your life suffer. I believe it's your subconscious mind telling you something. You have it in you, to become what you want. You know what needs to be done. You don't need anyone's permission to be strong and capable. Just do it. Smart work is only possible for there's hard work that precede it.
Hope this helps. If not, do treat it as just my own reflection of your dream. Have an amazing life!

  • @naseralriyami2568
    @naseralriyami2568 Před 3 lety

Psyche = One's total individual personality
    Conscious vs Unconscious
Ego (center of consciousness) vs Realm (center of being/ the sensed universe)
Personal (repressed elements) vs Collective (instincts + archetypes)
Archetypes = evolved cognitive structures which influence emotions, thoughts, and behaviors
Harmony in balance. Inflation and deflation are bad. Balance and Harmony is Good.
Dreams are a doorway to the unconscious realm. We can use dreams to our advantage and optimize our discussions about our dreams to make the best use of them. Dreams are pure nature and i regularly use the pos-hypnotic suggestion with my clients telling them that their dreams will continue to do the great work for them every time they sleep. I also teach them how to think better. I usually start with a demo about the value of mental rehearsal which I learnt from Tony Robbins. Doing things help you appreciate the value behind accepting new learning. Once you've measured your own success after applying this simple set of instructions you will know why it is important to always start with positive mental rehearsal.
You will need a paper and pen.
Draw 4 text boxes at each corner of your paper
Label the boxes like this :
    1- Potential
    2- Action
    3- Result
    4- Certainty or Belief
Connect the boxes in numerical order with arrows from the 1st box to the 4th box
If you want better results would you aim for:
1- How would you increase your potential? Are you God?
2- How would you get yourself to act better? Consistency is key. You cant wait to just feel like it one day can you?
3- Do you know how to get better results? Have you any idea how you would measure your desired outcomes? Have you recognised any undesirable outcomes you'd rather not repeat?
4- What about certainty? How can you be certain if its possible you dont even know? First you do and then you know; right?
So heres how Tony taught me to demonstrate the power of mental rehearsal:
When youre ready for change, the best place to start is your mind. Build certainty in the journey you are about to embark on. Mentally rehearse doing what you will do and do it well at least three times before doing it. In order to better understand what i mean, prepare yourself for an experiment and familiarise yourself with the following instructions:
    1. Stand feet together pointing forward
    2. Raise your right arm and extend your pointing finger forward
    3. Without moving your legs; twist as far as you are comfortable doing so to your right and memorise the spot in your space that you happen to be pointing at.
This is your baseline or initial measure. It is important when carrying out experiments to keep in mind the acronym TOTE. TOTE means to TEST first, then to OPERATE your experimental intervention before TESTING again in order to EXIT your experiment. You need a baseline measure and an outcome measure in order to call anything you do an experiment.
    1-Test for baseline
    2-Operate experimental intervention
    3-Test for resulting outcomes
    4-Exit experiment
The most effective level of intervention is at the level of certainty. To do so you only need to use your imagination so close your eyes and dont move your body while doing this first mental rehearsal.
Imagine standing feet together pointing forward
Imagine raising your arm and pointing forward
Imagine twisting to your right and passing your initial point
Imagine you look like its the easiest most fun thing to do in the world as you do it
Then Imagine twisting back in order to start over with another mental rehearsal
Start at the beginning; imagine your feet
Imagine raising your arm and pointing your pointing finger forward
Then Imagine Twisting to your right and going further, so much further, at least twice as far!
And notice that it looks easy and fun
Then Imagine twisting back in to start the next mental rehearsal
Start at the beginning and imagine your feet
Then Imagine yourself raising your arm and pointing forwards
And twist to the right and keep twisting and twisting like a rubber band
All the way round and round again and again as you notice yourself enjoying yourself as you do
Then twist back and open your eyes for the final test of this experiment.
This time test your body. How much further did you twist this time? Couldn't you have gone that far from the very beginning? How much better were your results after you had done at least 3 mental rehearsals before attempting the "real thing"?
Please find me and follow me and tell me what happened for you!

    • @tjovadevalivat
      @tjovadevalivat Před 7 lety +34

No. Individuation happens when you develop and live life as fully as you possibly can. That means a career, relationships, taking responsibility for your life in every respect, everything. Eventually this will take you to your limits where the ego will fail. That will catyst the individuation process. It is very difficult.

    • @RTomoT
      @RTomoT Před 7 lety +94

tjovadevalivat a psychedelic experience in the right set, setting and dosage can trigger a loss of ego. The unconscious can be expressed during a psychedelic experience too. To say you need a career and what not is a bit unfair, for one thing, not everyone is in the position to have a career. And how can you define how a person can live life to the full? Surely that's down to their own thoughts and life experience, not a predisposed way of living in whatever culture that may be.

    • @tjovadevalivat
      @tjovadevalivat Před 7 lety +29

+Ryan Thomason Thanks for your reply. You had several points. I try to adress them all. 1) Loss of ego is not enough. The lived life of the ego will carry you forward when you meet the unconscious. If you lose the ego through psychedelics it will probably be escapism. Individuation is not just an experience. It is life at its fullest. 2) It doesn't matter what career you have as long as you have developed your conscious personality as far as you can. It's all about putting your abilities to the test of the real world. 3) There is no cultural standard of living the life to the full. It is all about your own abilities. But you still have to do it (if you want individuation). How can you define it? Well, the person just has to feel what he has left undone in his life, and then go for it. As I said, it is very difficult and individuation is often a tragic and uncomfortable experience. Another point: Yes, life is unfair, and individuation is not for everyone.

    • @RTomoT
      @RTomoT Před 7 lety +11

tjovadevalivat I see what you mean about the ego, that's a valid point. I like your point about feeling what is left undone. I think nature rewards courage, hence why it's uncomfortable. I think if you are in a position of being able to do what you need to do for individuation to happen you have to do it, especially if not everyone is able to experience it.

It did for me, it was the first time I did LSD when I had my worst-est bad trip and felt a death purely because i was forced to bring my "Shadow" to the light. I felt that I had survived an near death experience and lived to see day again as someone reborn, baptized from all my previous misdoings and denials. Anyone who says otherwise never felt it and will argue of it and it's okay. In my heart, I know what is the honest truth even if I'm the only one who's aware of it. I was set on the right path since then purely because of LSD haha I know it sounds stupid but hell, I used to have a total anxiety of being left out and alone and different. Now, I don't mind if the entire universe conspires just to judge me. You know what, I'll take even my time to try and understand them and their convictions, maybe they're the ones who are suffering and only wants to be listened to.

It seems that my journey has lead me to the Individuation aspect for my life. I know there are wise and loving nuggets in Jung's teachings which would accompany me as I go toward Individuation. However, I admit that these teachings are difficult for me to grasp. I require multiple viewings of videos such as these in order to scratch the surface. Your book recommendations might be helpful, but I wonder if they are too philosophical in nature, thus rendering the content a challenge for me to understand. Your videos are wonderfully encouraging. The reader's voice is perfect in tone, pitch, and pacing. If you have any recommendations for accessing "Jung for Dummies" I'm willing to investigate them.

    So ARMYs let's discuss:
Joon has more than once mentioned how he is RM from BTS as well as the private person Kim Namjoon. I think he is not the only one of the members to mention this 'conflict' in the past.
The Love Yourself Series has shown us different sides to interpersonal love as well as self-love (Begin/falling in love HER - Turn/falling out of love TEAR - Resolution/Realising to love others one must first love themself ANSWAER).
Assuming that Map Of The Soul will also be a series of albums. I would not be surprised to find that they are going to interpret the *Individuation* Process with them. With the first album called PERSONA & all the hints from FAKE LOVE/SINGULARITY MAMAvcr etc. (masks, hiding themselves unter those hoods&capes, the lake as a methaphor for the unconscious? etc) It is likely the following albums will be called THE SHADOW& THE SELF as parts of the psyche. (MAybe they'll only use the archetypes tho so: PERSONA; SHADOW; ANIMA/ANIMUS)
2:14 *How to promote such integration when it does not occur naturally was a question of deep concern for Jung*
I had always described the LYseries as a story of self-realisation, so this MAp Of The Soul album series would indeed seem an organic continuation of the stories they've told so far.
If there really is going to be an Album surrounding the topic of *6:09**Confronting THE SHADOW* I would not be surprised to see that one Nietsche Quote form BS&T to make a return "I...one must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. ..." tho that might be taking that quote out of context.... More likely: in past songs they discussed topics of self criticism& self doubt, setting standards for your self higher that you do for others. Maybe well see more of that 6:35 'If a inferiority is concious there can be positive change'.
In Conclusion: This presentation has given me quite a few ideas what this upcoming album might sound like, I've refreshed my knowledge on Jungs ideas& am really looking forward to all of this.

indivituation is the process of integrating your unconscious elements into a unified whole which happens naturally as all elements of the unconscious seek outward expression. four important archetypes are the person, shadow, anima/animus and the self.
Ther persona is the personality we portray to other people. Thus it enables us to fit into the group and is the connection between our ego and other people, but over identification with it will increase the size of your shadow. It is oriented outward hmmmm.
The shadow are elements of our personality which we have shut out from our conscious experience (is'nt cause they are incongruent with the way we perceive ourselves?, also in most groups there is a them us divide which is only possible to engage in through supressing some elements of your psyche, well it only makes sense to engage in if you belive you dont share the same flaws as the other group). But the shadow still has a powerful effect on our emotions, thoughs and behaviours, even though we tell ourselves we dont possess those traits or qualities. So the shadow counts as being part to the personnel unconscious or at least its particular content? Another important thing to note of the shadow would be it consists not of things which are inherently "bad" and counts as any suppressed areas of your personality, which were possibly suppressed as to fit into the group, thus conforming.
why does the anima/animus serve as the connection between the personnel conscious and the collective unconscious? how does it protect us?
why does encounters with the anima/animus lead to encountering the archetype of wholeness/self?
so the goal of life and the goal of individuation is to assimilate unconscious elements and so move the ego to a closer approximation to the self.

@Bronson Narator bro, let the ppl discover different topics that are not strictly related to music, even if it's thank to popular group, BTS.
I knew about carl jung and i read about this topic a while ago, but bts with their Map of the soul albums made me think about this topic again. And the way they build the whole "map of the soul series" is so fascinating. Plus, they are just amazing songwriters. And isn't it amazing to see a popular group that has so many fans all over the world, tackle on even these topics, which nowadays, rarely artists even talk about or even know about. And this is not the only thing they talk about. They have a whole album based on Herman Hesses Demian, and a lot of songs inspired by books and famous quotes, etc...they cover all kinds of stuff.
Yes, I know that in past, if we talk about this topic or similar to it, there was Pink Floyd (my fav band ever) or dream theater as well as many other (mostly genre of rock) groups. Now, it's hard to accept, but pop, hip hop is something mainstream nowadays, like it or not. I prefer listening to rock and metal even to this day, but personally, bts with their lyrics and smart concepts about important things, that they genuinely care about, is an exception in today's "mainstream" music industry. So, my point is, I dont see why is it a bad thing that ppl (as well as younger fans) come from BTS music and lyrics, to check out topics like this. I think it's a beautiful thing. And I am pretty sure it's way better than ppl, even younger fans following for example cardi b, who goes streaming live and talks about sucking dicks and taking them in her pussy and ass (excuse me for my language, but, yes, she did that)...
I hope u understand my kinda long comment..I never planned it to be long, but I just naturally prolonged it. 😊 If anyone got to the end, thanks for reading 👍

@@jerisjeris5965 their albums in 2019 and 2020- Map Of The Soul: Persona and Map Of The Soul: 7. A lot of the songs from MOTS:7 have risen from the jungian theory. really interesting actually and theyve made me genuinely interested to know and research.
i suggest u listen to Intro: Persona , Outro: Ego and Interlude: Shadow. probably the songs wit hthe best references to psychology among the two albums

I relate. I actually had a hard time studying this for my major and kinda just glossed over it. When I did the full album analysis this became my best area and it had always been, it's just that I had to do some work on myself to see things clearly. And that chain reaction started with black swan.
I've never made so much progress in my inner journey and mental. And to think all this came from an album from artists I used to roll my eyes at...better late than never

Why do Active Imagination when there are mushrooms growing right under your feet.

In my experience, you may directly confront your personal unconscious even if it is displeasing. You’ll realize parts of yourself that may have been long forgotten but still contributing to your thoughts and actions of now. Realizing the better and worse parts of your self in conscience and unconsciousness allows you to more appropriately address any perceived flaws and strengths of yourself, as well as bridging your mind even further.

WHAT does it mean for the unconscious mind to become obsessed with thoughts of death, fear, limitations and projections of a dark world? Why does it want so much power?

It's human nature to want power and to control

The shadow has no will of its own, but is rather a consequence of the ego's rejection of death, fear, limitations, and projections of a dark world. The power hidden in the shadow exists due to an attachment to the blissful ignorance of childhood. Only when one embraces these dark realities can one responsibly wield their own power.
I personally believe this to be the meaning of the story of Christs resurrection and ascension to heaven. The ultimate suffering of the crucifixion represents the full embrace of the shadow and its death, the resurrection represents the realization of Christ's Self and the inevitable result of ascension to higher being.
