sounds awesome, can’t wait to see you dig into it. Hope the market stays strong til your finished up!
I hope so too!
This car needs the turbo kia motor it's a bolt in long block option most junk yards will have cheap! I swapped many of these under warranty the turbo AWD and na fwd block is the exact same block externally. The vans, SUV and car all use the exact same GDI engine design and mounting. The turbo is a direct injection engine but the forte is usually a indirect injection design. Kia was starting to phase out the GDI engines with direct injection in favor of port injection due to the incredibly high carbon build up on intake valves. Vehicles with under 30k were having misfires from clogged valves not sealing. That was the main fault of the GDI engine with direct injection.
We love your videos. Uncle Matt 😂
lol
Love the editing, as always. COULD be timing chain tensioner related, but does sound like knock. Good luck!
P.S. Congrats on 20K man flew right past it!
@@802Garage Thanks!
Certainly could! Just got to dig in and find the source.
Yikes I was replacing kia engines constantly at the dealership. There is a service bulletin to check bearing clearance and replace the motor if it fails.
Had that exact same noise before, replaced the engine thinking it was rod knock.
Only to have the new engine have the same noise, bummed out I started taking everything out again. Had just unbolted the fuel pump and my dad shows up and wants to hear it run. It still had fuel in carb so I started it up and it sounded perfect.
Dumbfounded I put the car back together, started it up and it had the rod knock again. Turns out the mechanical fuel pump had issues and was the sound the whole time.
Nowadays if I suspect rod knock I unplug one coil at a time till I see if it goes away completely when I disconnect a particular coil, if it does you found the rod knock on that cylinder.
Also this noise could be a cracked flexplate.
Thank for the tips! Will give it a shot.
Nice of you to help out but.
I'm going to guess that it's a #1 lifter issues.
I don't think it's rods.
But you will figure it out.
Apolo will love another ride !
Be safe.
Definitely will be interesting to see what it is. lol.. Apollo is always down for a ride!
When will the next video come out, Sir Matt?
Generally around Wed or Thursday.
Alright! Thanks Sir Matt. Looking forward to watch it.
YUP ROD KNOCK FOR SURE! YES I FLIP CARS AS WELL, MY PRIMARY BUSINESS. But im doing this in Asia in a Foreign country! hehe....ROD KNOCKS are easy to fix!, just got to pull the motor out, add material to the offending crank journal and re-machine it, replace the offending rod or others that are eccentric, replace bearings(factory clearances) and plastiguage them and BAM! done!..Or replace the crank with a known good one from the parts store (crank kit) or junkyard and replace the offending rod or rods..thats it! Pistons can be reused, rings need to b replaced, new rebuild kit gaskets onentire engine as well and,,just blue print the engine like factory (yes! Blueprinting is recommended because of the newness of the engine,,,tight tolerances and all) good luck!
Thanks! That's the plan. :)
The fuel injector will be under the Intake if it's a direct injection motor with the fuel pump on-top under that plastic cover and metal hard lines. U can honestly pull that motor in 3hrs since it's a fwd the crank pulley will clear the side frame rail and u just have to pull accessories and pulleys off. I could have a Kia Forte in and out of the shop in 11hrs with a new motor 😊 if u want a practice engine just stop by your local kia or Hyundai dealership after hours I almost gautentee there will be engine cores sitting in there scrap metal pile 😂😂 kia and Hyundai are the same company with the same motors and they are on the hook to replace like 13 million engines just in North America under the class action lawsuit. Edit I can clearly see the high pressure pump in the video so u have the direct injection 2.4l GDI I believe. The fuel rail and injectors are under the plastic intake. The turbo and na motor have the exhaust at the back.
How bo BGVRP for my iapd 8 rbo godo bye bro ahve. Aogod dya
Listening to that engine......the boyfriend is multi-talented......he knocked up his girl and the Kia engine, too.
lol
@@cmattdabrat Didn't know if you'd take my smart-ass comment as humor but glad that you did. I tune into your uploads whenever I get a chance and enjoy some of your perspectives.
Sounds like rod knock bent rod.
She's definitely not happy.

What ever happened? I would love to see the tear down
I'll post that video in the future. It had two rods bearings spun. So I put it back together and sold it. I just didn't have the time with everything going on to rebuild it.
@@cmattdabrat awesome, looking forward to seeing that video.. good for you on the sale
The best way to scam kia is to have the motor lock up then they can't do the bearing clearance test and it fails automatically and u get a new motor...... Basically drain your oil let it blow up put the old oil back in and tow it to kia and they give u a new engine if u are in the milage and time window. Your local dealer is scamming u they have to do the ecu update and bearing clearance test no matter what it's a recall they can't refuse to flash the ecu it's a legally mandated government recall.
Had I not been overwhelmed with Shannon's health, would have just swapped the engine, and got a lifetime warranty on it and kept it, or sold it.
Call another Kia Dealer, and if not call Kia America and make a stink about it, they will fix it.
Called Kia America. They were the ones that sent the document. Tried and tried to no avail.
Time to pull out the stethoscope, and pin point it.
This is true. Got my southern stethoscope. A length of rubber hose.
spun a bearing completely out thats a bad rod knock oof
Time for a rebuild.
@@cmattdabrat yeah buddy, time to swap in a K24 with a turbo and gap everyone
