DarkHellkite here - Thanks for the shout out! Yeah I took the idea from SavageSamba's list and have been playing it for a little while with some success. I don't play a lot on mtgo, but sometimes I play in the challenges. The deck is still somewhat inconsistent, but with some slightly aggressive mulliganing (exactly like you did in the video), and a little bit of luck, it can really be a blast to play. I do often ask myself how did I just win that and wtf just happened?
My current list did replace the suffocating fumes with Arms of Hadar, good call on that. I was only playing relic because of the dredge deck I was having a hard time with and relic is simply the best answer. Any other deck that relic might be played against, this deck is either favored or relic just isn't a card worth bringing in. I have since cut it down to 2 copies and I could see going down to 0 and just accepting that matchup is likely a loss. I like the addition of the forest, I have been on the fence about it in the past but you made it look good. I have also dropped the vault of whispers down to just 2 and I feel that is the right amount since having a swamp is important. I have replaced nested shambler with Nezumi Linkbreaker, and it seems slightly better. I appreciate any further input!

Nezumi linkbreaker does seem better in this list than the nested shambler.
Serrated scorpion would be good to add a little more life gain vs aggro and burn and reach to get the opponent down and is what I’d probably run.
If you want to steal initiative or monarch back in certain matches, you may want something like unwilling ingredient or gingerbrute instead, but I’d likely stick with serrated scorpion.

Oh man I love this deck! ^^
Saw the decklist by SavageSamba a while ago and I've been playing it in my local league every week since.
It's such a blast to play!
Been tweaking it for a while to our local meta, and here's the list I've been using:
    4 Troll of Khazad-Dum
    4 Avenging Hunter
    2 Greedy Freebooter
    4 Shambling Ghast
    4 Nested Shambler
    2 Guildsworn Prowler
    4 Bone Picker
    1 Spinning Darkness
    1 Snuff Out
    2 Cast Down
    4 Deadly Dispute
    4 Corrupted Conviction
    3 Village Rites
    3 Culling the Weak
    2 Rancor
    9 Swamps
    4 Khalni Garden
    3 Vault of Whispers
    Sideboard:
    4 Deglamer
    3 Nihil Spellbomb
    3 Arms of Hadar
    3 Weather The Storm
    1 Spinning Darkness
    1 Snuff Out
I've been playing it more like a midrange list with an "auto-win" start sometimes, but I feel like the list by DarkHellkite is also really interesting for leaning more into the cheating aspect of the deck.

I did want to try and find room for rancor but didn't know what to cut. At least we agree that Gixian Infiltrator is pretty mid since it isn't in your list. Glad you having success and look forward to seeing how other lists develop.

Thank you for the credits! I'm working on (a version of) this deck since January and seeing it on youtube makes me really happy!

Nice! I try and credit who I can. I mainly noticed it from the challenges when DarkHellkite was playing it but everyone else knew it as the 'SavageSamba pile' so credited you both. Deck is cool and seems like it has lots of potential. Hope this was a good showcase for it.

@@Kirblinxy DarkHellkite here! Thanks for the shout and thanks SavageSamba for the inspiration of the deck. I have played a lot of mono black sacrifice decks in the past but they can't keep up with the current meta and then I saw SavageSambas list and that got the juices flowing again. I used his list as a very solid starting point, but I wanted to go harder into the emblam. I don't play a lot on MTGO and seem to always 4-1 leagues, but I do quite well at my LGS with this deck. I played it in a couple challenges which is probably why you've seen my version. I hope others can see and also innovate as I think there is still much to be improved on the list!

@JasonG69001 You thrashed me in a challenge with it when I was on Cascade walls so I knew I had to try it out eventually. I can't believe both of you found my video within 24 hours, I guess my videos have a lot of reach these days 😅

Ichor Drinker seems good. Can be sacced twice and the backside can be sacced to Deadly Dispute without needing to pay the Incubate cost. Lifelink is always nice in this meta. Cutting the Bonepickers for them and replacing the Infiltrators with bonesplitters seems like it might be better. Basically forced your opponent to point removal at your guys before saccing them at instant speed anyway. Playing bonesplitter also makes Shambler way better.
It might also be possible to hybridize the deck with Gates. Basically play WB mana base with gates and also play Sacred Cat which can be sacced twice like Ichor Drinker.

    • @Kirblinxy
      @Kirblinxy  Před 4 měsíci

I don't think ichor drinker suits this deck. The new Nezumi Linebreaker is probably a better addition. I do like Ichor Drinker but as you said, it is probably better with gates but then the deck completely changes as you are a turn slower because of all the taplands.

  • @Elfrago87
    @Elfrago87 Před 4 měsíci +2

Very cool to see this deck, I played a similar list at my LGS that was even more focused on having T2 initiative/monarch
    4 Shambling Ghast
    4 Prosperous Pirate
    4 Avenging Hunter
    3 Goliath Paladin
    3 Troll of Khazad-dun
3 Thorn of the Black Rose
    4 Deadly dispute
    4 Culling the weak
    2 Fanatical offering
    2 Village rites
    2 Blood fountain
    3 Tragic slip
    4 Snuff out
    4 Khalni Garden
    1 BG land
    1 WB land
    10 Swamp
    4 Vault of WHispers
(No SB since mine was bad anyway)
I found it okay overall, terrible against monoR and Faeries but much better than I expected vs UW or UR control decks. I think its better than the red based turbo initiative list that sees some play online.
I might try running a list closer to the one in the video.

    • @Kirblinxy
      @Kirblinxy  Před 4 měsíci +2

Looks like this deck wants Dark Ritual as well. It seems way too reliant on getting an early monarch and using that momentum to win. Bone picker might be the secret sauce that helps the version I play have a better aggro plan. Deck still is probably pretty bad into red though, I think I got lucky in this league.

Love this! I have a jund tokens list I haven't upgraded since before LOTR and so likely is unplayable in its current form but a fair amount of the tech is similar here (minus the turbo). The relevant threats I ran in that one are Mold Folk and Bloodbriar. Mold Folk you have to have the mana to pay to sac to it to grow it, so it might not be the best fit here but the lifelink is sometimes very relevant. For your list I think the sideboard unexpected fangs might be better. I chose Bloodbriar over the Infiltrator because all you need is to sac one thing and its big enough to not die to lightning bolt. not sure if a 3 drop is too expensive to run in this list but I've had great results with it in that deck and in the treasures deck I built as well.

That was brutal! haha I love it! I read part of lujo's threads on discord and I even played some of his lists in MTGO tournament practice room. But I haven't tested with emblems. And I didn't notice that SavageSamba and DarkHellkite were putting results on MTGO! So great to now! Thanks a lot for highlighting these decks by sharing your gameplay.
By the way, if you feel you're light on threats, why no more initiative guys (the white ones)?

    • @Kirblinxy
      @Kirblinxy  Před 4 měsíci +1

That could also be another option. At least we had some green sources to cast the Hunter, having the Paladin means we need to do it only through treasures. Is probably a good idea to test, I just didn't think of them while recording the video.

I thought about something similar to this deck but more on the creature aggro style rather than the turbo initiative
It would remove the culling the weaks, Thorn and nested shamblers and adds rancor, mortician beetle and blister pod instead. Even thought about nest invaders and carrion feeder
Idea would be to grow huge infiltrators and beetles (or even feeder) with rancor, dropping eventuals 3/2 1 mana flyers and keep the initiative creature for a late game if we reach there (2 copies only)
I like the fun of forcing my opponent to deal with annoying creatures and when they do you just sac it for value and another creature starts to grow
Not sure if after playing this deck what are your thoughts on this, or if in this current meta it's straight up worst than just going for initiative and monarchy quickly as the only move that works in this archetype.
