Romeo X - 10/10 Terminators agree - Red dot of ROBOTS

- The SIG Sauer Romeo X is a US assembled open reflex sight made in Wilsonville Oregon. It doesn't forge any new trails necessarily but it DOES deliver a super tough, super beautiful optic for pistols that allow standard height sights to cowitness.
Optics provided by SIG for content creation.

The side battery to allow low stack height is genius.
The ATF raided our local dentist's office this week. They were looking for braces.
Aaron, _The Abuser of Red Dots_ , from Sage Dynamics is probably going to have to up his game now that you're using a red dot to hammer nails into a 2x4.
Knowing him, he would build an entire dog house with it and that would be his minimum standard.
Aaron's torture testing is WAY more intense than hammering nails in... nobody even comes close to Aaron's optic tests. Sorry :P
I’ve seen Aaron straight up abuse the crap out the RMR including using it as a hammer
Man Sig has really been stepping up their game. Really like the Romeo X. 😊
This might be one of the best Red Dot videos I've ever seen. Clear and concise but still gives a tremendous amount of needed information. Great video.
Yes, FAR more gratifying to watch this than some rambling video with low production value.
This is the best I've seen. He's setting the bar high.
Also it is not anywhere as long as Fancy videos.
David, you’ve given us arguably the greatest review…of any pistol-related subject we, the subscribers, have seen in the past two or more years. That said, the Romeo-X without question is going on my Sig P365x. Wonderful job. Thank you.
When the the abroad in japan music started in 6:58 it made me smile considering I just finished watching a video from him before coming in here. My worlds are colliding.
Really liked the format of this video. Been super cool to see the change and growth over the years!
I know Sage Dynamics did his review on his Patreon Channel and had good things to say... but the opening scene of you driving a nail into a 2x4 with it and it not losing zero single-handedly sold this for me. It'll be going on both my P320 and P365 when I get that.
I recently worked a flood during which my entire duty rig was submerged, including my 508T. Drawing and checking it after I got out of the water I could easily see the dot. Multiple times that day the optic filled with rain water. It never posed a problem with picking up the dot
Yeah I was out hunting and got snow on the emitter. It was useless.
@@bobsmith7916 There is this crazy idea that you buy your equipment for the environment you will be using it in. Using an open emitter optic exposed to the snow, mud, etc. is just not the brightest idea. Most people are NOT going to use their firearms in anywhere near "combat" conditions or even "duty" conditions, so the open emitter is 100% viable. Will Sig make a closed emitter version of this....almost a guarantee.
Sadly, Holosun/Huanic is a Chinese company that was initially funded by the CCP. I don't support Chinese companies.
@@8654ZuluFoxtrot Yeah, most folks will be using this for concealed carry or home defense, so rolling around in mud isn't going to be a thing. I mean, tons of departments are running RMR's on their Glocks and it's not an issue for most of them.
@@bobsmith7916 You were unable to get the snow out of it? Is that what made it useless?
My Romeo X is on its way to me right now. Looking forward to getting it!
Love the side-by-side comparison with the fisheye effect on some lens distortion.
This looked very good on paper. Excited to get my hands on one, good review.
I'm new to shooting and picked up a P320 M17 as my first firearm. I'm really looking forward to getting one of these if I ever find them available
Hands down, you consistently provide the most entertaining and informative reviews on the internet. Thanks
Thanks for the review David!! Have an awesome weekend Brother!!
Love this video! I also love how you actually "tested" the red dots "toughness" maybe you can do a 🆚 video of this and the holosun EPS carry?
Just got my sig kilo 10k range finder for elr shooting. So far I'm happy with it.
Have my eye on the EPS series when i want to get a dot.
But this does make a good offering too, especially with that deck height. Which is on of the big points i like about the EPS.
Also the options for different reticles is something i like a lot, since it would make it easier to go from iron sights only.
Easy battery acces is always a nice selling point too
Holosun/Huanic is a Chinese company and was originally funded by the CCP.
The Romeo X obviously nailed it in this video!
Hahaha😂
LMAO
I love how he smashes a nail with it.
A great review, too.
Loved how real you kept it , automatically subbed, you earned it 😂
Closed emitter is the only thing I'm in the market for but it's not a bad thing that SIG is making a better option than an RMR. When I think SIG pistol optics though I sre Romeo zero and I get extra soft.
great video. hey Dave, you should come out to Utah for the "Red Rock Rumble" in September. it's not an area match but definitely a big match and so much fun to shoot.
My September is pretty busy
Knowledge plus humor equals and outstanding review!
I have one of the compact models on my x-macro and love it. I cant wait to get the full size version for one of my bigger guns. I considered the holosun eps bcus its enclosed but i like the reticle of romeo x better.
I have the xc on my x macro… and love the low, flush fit and reticle options
I too appreciate the RX.
Can see this looking great on my M17 and the replacement of the DeltaPoint I use. Not having to use skyscraper iron sights is a major plus for me
JM4 makes nice leather holster with strong magnet retention. I wonder if the mahnet on mine will turn the dot off. That would be pretty cool
bought a chineesium halosun and it has started to change brightness when wiggled or shot. was at the range today looking for a new dot and saw this there! will pick it up soon because of this
I received the compact version the other day only got to put about 150 rounds through mine so far but think it perfect on my older P365XL the glass clarity is superb.
Thank god you put the measurements on the screen.. you were confusing the shit out of me going from correctly saying half an inch for DPP to “3.6 inches” for the RMR lol… I was like wait, where the hell is he measuring from if the RMR and R2 is 3.6 inches??
Excellent review
Very good review. I watch a lot of reviews videos and you are very good.
Kudos on your ever-increasing production values. :)
“Nobody makes holsters for that.” Well, friend… I have a small custom holster shop, and I have one of these optics on the way. As soon as I get the placement figured out, I’ll definitely be offering the option.
I always thought it was dumb that I was burning batteries up just carrying while driving around. Neodymium magnets and kydex are pretty cheap.
As for dad jokes, just think of my project as a way to honor my dad, who regularly yelled about the lights being left on after we left the room.
I May finally have to check out a Sig optic 🤙
The cats typing furiously is excellent
Plus, extra rear irons are always a good idea. Any plans for extra front irons too?. j/k Love that it's made here too. Still makes a difference to me.
Excellent review. Thanks. I appreciate purchasing Freedom RDOs that are made in the US and by US friendlies. Will be checking out this one when my next RDO need arises. Totally dig the Buccees hat. Nice! What do you call a deer that can't see? No eye-deer. What do you call a deer that can't see and doesn't have legs? Still, no eye-deer.
I really love the dot. I have astigmatism in certain lighting and at night anything 6 moa has terrible sun bursting. I miss the window of the Romeo 1 pro. Sig optics have really gone up in quality. For anything optic on the DPP footprint I’d recommend this and the vortex defender st
Awesome - I'm definitely interested and look forward to Aaron's burndown lol
Well done!! It almost makes me want to buy a Sig, almost. Lol
Night vision capable! Now I my Counter-Strike LARP outfit is complete!
Thank you for informative video.
Glad it was helpful!
I get that so many are bummed that it's not enclosed and normally that would be a deterent for me but the big thing I think most are missing here is that the standard sights co-witness. I know you heard it but think of its application real world. Emitter gets covered, then switch to iron sights. Its genius. And most notably for me personally, its not $800+ which the future enclosed version will be. Once you hit that price point, I'd rather spend that money on another firearm. At this exact moment optics planet has the X Pro on sale for $360. Im about to throw my credit card at them lol.
Seems like a good optic. For my daily carry I went from the 507k to the EPS carry because I was getting crap on the lens and emitter, and I love the closed emitter for my bear protection because I'm out in the woods and mud and rain etc. That said, for an occasional carry gun or cleaner environment this looks like a really great option and I like the price.
My first Pistol RDS was a Romeo 3 XL. Next a R1Pro. Then, after all my research, needed to try Holosun 509 and the RMR. Thought there was something wrong with the glass on the Holosun and RMR with all the distortion. Once I became accustomed to near perfect glass with the sig optics, it became hard to use the others. Maybe not hard, but just slightly annoying. I know it doesn’t seem to bother a lot of people, but to me it does.
My favorite RDS on my favorite P320 is still my Romeo 2 on my P320 Scorpion.
Nice review!
Might be the BEST MPVO backup...
Thanks!
Well, one more day until the NDA on the new Trijicon RCR enclosed optic and RMR-HD with forward looking sensors drop.
And about time, if the Sig optic is beating them that hard.
I thought open emitter sights were fine. Then I got caught in the rain at a match with a 507c in a safariland holster with the cover. Had it under a jacket. Dot was gone for ~30 minutes.
That's why you have back up irons??
@@rcwarrior868 or an enclosed emitter optic. I'll probably go for suppressor height sights.
I wish Holosun made the EPS and EPS Carry with the Vulcan reticle.
@@roflchopter11 Holosun/Huanic is a Chinese company. Their Calif address is just a warehouse.
@@bikeracerdude and? They're far more innovative than Trijicon or Steiner.
Great video - just need to clean up your deck height numbers. Decimals are important
I'm interested to see how well this fits a Shield Plus. I'm kinda bummed that the holosun options that need an adapter plate.
great video, subbed. Going on a p365 legion when available.
Big question? Where is it made? Oops I see its made in Oregon. Thanks
Looks really promising. But, will wait to see what the consensus is a year after people have had a chance to run them!
I have a 365XL with the suppressor height sights and the Romeo zero elite. I am looking to change the Romeo X compact. Any issues with using the Romeo X with the taller suppressor height sights?
I can’t wait to get my hands on a Romeo x pro….It sucks they are back ordered till eternity but good for sig. I’m gonna have to borrow one at the range from my shooting buddies. One of my local agencies are going xfull and Romeo x, the other went x carry romeo 2s.
they're great sights.
Now you just gotta shoot the optic like you shot your camera 👍
Had mine for about a week now, did some drop test , did not use it as a hammer and put about 500 rounds through it. So I like it a lot. I do agree in the idea that this is compared to a rmr and not an holosun eps. Weird to me that people hate this because it’s not enclosed but don’t hate rmr’s …. Probably going to get the enclosed pro version when it drops for my p320 flushed comp build
only 400 bucks too honestly for the durability you get it's worth it. I think it's a great competitor for the RMR
Definitely getting this for my partner this xmas.
Love it on my X Macro
Did you hear about the crazy camping trip? Yeah, it was "in tents".
Yeah buddy!
Thank you for skipping BDE in the intro and for the helpful review.
This episode had me laughing more than usual. Thanks!!!!
Of course, SIG drops this the day after I buy an EPS full size and CHPWS plate for one of my P320s.
pretty cool. thx
I'll get it. The 507c x2 was my favorite for a while. BTW the song I played in my head and sang it a loud.
I’m curious what you think after you try it. I think it’s my favorite optic going right now for carry.
I love the Romeo X, though not a crazy wide window. I'm happy with it. HOWEVER, I've been recently hearing about the lens/glass scratching. Have you noticed this?
How is a meditating monk and a fiber-optic cable similar?
Total internal reflection.
Will be good to put on a 226 x five legion
Hey guys, with how low it rides had anyone tested if the dots for a Beretta M9A4 will work with this one?
Not gonna lie, I think I would buy this after seeing the side-by-side with some of the other dots.
Need it green for my astigmatism.
That's an impressive off-hand shooting. That's some BDE for sure!! Of course big dad energy come on guys
Huh, "come on guys" wtf!
I'm a big fan of Sig optics. Thanks for the share!!
The low mount is great but the side mounted battery adds outward bulk which is a drawback. For some this won't be a problem but if you conceal carry any outward bulk can sometimes be more difficult to conceal under lighter clothing. At least it doesn't mount underneath the optic lol. On top of that its battery life is way behind competitors. You should change your batteries yearly but I'd still rather there be a large margin for error. Other than that it seems rather compelling. We'll see how it stacks up against Trijicon's new RMR HD and RCR offerings, their forward light detection seems cool but I bet it will come at a cost.
The battery compartment literally is flush with the side of the slide.
@@levimaliwauki8 yes but that is irrelevant when we talk about concealing it. Putting on an optic adds height, and that is what will be against you printing horizontally across your body. When angled against the body the extra width will poke out at the top. It would have been better with the compartment being upwards facing, because then the side profile would be smooth and thinner. Here's a comparison to help explain: the shape of the Holosun 507 is curved at the top. When you rotate it around your body, the leading edge will always be that smooth arc. By comparison here you will have the bump of the top of the optic and edge of the compartment.
@@lllllllllllillllllll for sure those are valid points for the profile - And I’ll add, your holster of any choice though adds more height to the carry profile, in which this optic does sit within the total height of gun body to edge of outside holster. So the gap does exist there regardless.
As far as battery life, it doesn’t matter the optic, if I’m carrying it on my personal carry gun, the battery gets changed every year. I do it every year on my birthday. 20,000 hrs with this optic is still 3 years of projected battery life. That’s just fine for me, but I change mine every year.
Pay attention to the wording on marketing material... EPS is UP TO 50,000 hours. Meaning you will get 50k on the lowest setting, if you never move it (power save mode), and happen to win the battery capacity lottery. The EPS has a CR1620 battery vs the CR1632 battery, that is 40% less capacity. IF you still think your EPS is going to out last this on a usable setting, your wrong.
Side battery doesn’t affect concealability
I'm poor and use a swampfox on a canik I love what I got though
Hey brother had no clue you trained at Mission 160 would be down to learn from you sometime if you’d ever be down 🍻
I would like to know if you feel your scores would improve with the Romeo X given the smaller screen and other ergonomics when compared to comparable Holosun,Trijicon et al, do?
For shooting free style - the window size doesn't matter a ton if you have a good index. Where big windows start to become nice is shooting weak hand only or from compromised positions where your index isn't as solid. For most standard types of drills - it doesn't make a difference.
FWIW, lint in my optic is seriously one of the ways I can't see through my optic in low light conditions.
Hola, es compatible con la P320 X Legion???
Saludos.
I was hoping for a competitor to the EPS or EPS Carry but eh oh well
Love the video and the dot. I tried to wait for your review but I couldn't so I bought one and glad I did. 😊
What is the Scariest plant in the forest?
Bam BOO!
Great video! Do you think the sight height will allow you to see over a suppressor or does the lower deck height mean visibility with a can?
Also do you want to hear a dirty joke?
I REALLY WANNA SEE YOU do a comparison of ROMEOX PRO & the SHIELD AMS now that they have finally released it after making us wait a year!? It's the same price range & same size, only it ENCLOSED so that should make for a good comparison.....
AMS isn't quite available yet - but I talked to them at SHOT - they should be in touch when they're ready.
When will they make it in green reticle?
Objective & real good stuff dude. Thanks for putting this together and assembling these facts ;)
Great video, cool optic! I have to have one. What’s the footprint?
DPP or RMSC
I have an x5 legion and i have the choice between the 1 pro the 2 and the x. What would be your go to for a range gun?
For the range - a bigger window is a bit nicer so 1 pro - but I don’t mind the lower deck height and smaller window of the X - but i prefer the 6 moa dot of the R1P
3:50 Oh Sh**!!! Thats Fu**in awesome!!!!! That’s makes more sense to me!!!
Is it an RMR footprint? I am considering it for my wife's PDP-F that has the RMR plate
Dpp
what is not very heavy and Blue? Light Blue
Wonder what street prices will be??
Does the flatter glass effect paralax? I always assumed the curved glass was to help with that....
Not sure if its just the video, or if its luke that IRL, but when you showed it side by side with the RMR (when talking about the notch filter) it looks like there's some lag.
Like maybe the eefreH rate isn't as good as it could be (luke many have complained about with the Vortex Deffender)
Is that how its looking in person?
There is not a refresh rate issue - the font is glorious
@@TheHumbleMarksman Good to hear.👍
I ran into a light post. I only sustained light injuries
My Romeo Zero took a kaka, the screws won't adjust the dot anymore. This is apparently a common problem with the first production Romeo Zero. I called Sig to set up a warranty claim. I can either get the cheap-as-a-ADE optic original Romeo Zero (free) , or for 200 simoleons I can get the Romeo X. If this is better than the Holosun 407K that I was gonna rob off my GX4 to put the 365XL back in service, I'll get it.
it's appreciably better than the holosun if you don't mind losing the 6 MOA dot for a 2/32. The 407K is a great sight - but the optical quality and the super low deck height are big advantages in the Sig's favor.
