My late husband and I adopted 5 girls, 2 from China and 3 from Cambodia. Our first daughter came home in 1995. We never used the words “abandoned” or “unwanted”. We always told them that their bio parents loved them but couldn’t keep them and wanted the best life for them. They are all in their 20’s now and doing great! There is an organization now that helps adopted Chinese children find their bio parents through DNA. They found out that many of the children had been stolen and sold to orphanages.
That's what I'm afraid of. When the adoption involves lots of money, you wonder where the money went. The jobs in China created by these adoption agency and profit for government. So worrying.
I was also adopted from China. I wish there are more videos like this in my teenage years. I struggled with it for a long time. Especially with racism. I had that feeling I had to stick a note on my forehead which says that I’m adopted because I look different in between my siblings. Thank you for sharing your story.

In Korea also there are a lot of adopted children to foreigners because of the war and accidental pregnancies etc and Korean's are not big on adopting other people's children so they tend to get adopted out. Very sad. In India a lot of girls are given up as well because having a boy is more profitable and stable. A lot of babies and children during these times either get out up for adoption, abandoned or killed.

Let the parents in China take DNA test and put it in a database. Children searching for their biological parents can then be able to use the database to find matching DNA.
Rey Rey they probably should not search for their biological parents at all. Any Chinese will tell you so. In some places in China, especially in poor villages in Jiangxi and fujian provinces, people strongly prefer boys than girls, they would try everything until they get a boy. If they can’t, they adopt a boy from relatives. With strict one child policy they just abandon baby girls. There are studies from Chinese scholars showing in certain period, the recorded gender birth rate is extremely unbalanced, one can only guess why. When the policy is not so strict, they raise them as helpers of their little brother. One huge problem from it is that in these areas nowadays young men are outnumbered women thus it’s difficult to get married, and the family of women usually asks for tons of money to agree for marriage. Guess who is paying the money for the little brother to get married? Big sisters! They also have to help with buying house and car: standard start for marriage in China. I watched many videos of adoption and get moved each time. so happy for the adopted kids. They are so lucky to have the loving parents and family. Their biological parents don’t deserve them. There are cases that some girls found birth parents in the end, who fake crying and say how much they love the girl, only hoping to get financial help from her. I hope the adopted kids never have to meet them and find out the ugly truth.

There is a scandal though, that mainly between 2000 and 2005 in Shaoyang city, staffs from Population and Family Planning Commission took babies away from many parents and put them in orphanage for adoption. For these families, of course I hope they find each other soon. Except for these rare cases, usually the stolen kids don't end up in adoption system, but human trafficking: boys as sons, and girls as current labor and future wife of their sons to avoid huge payment for marriage. They have little chance to be found and rescued, let alone making decisions of anything. And It is not about nationality at all. I am Chinese, that is why I know these things. Most people in any country are just normal people. I wrote down the names of places where these happened a lot in the past. Again, any Chinese will tell you the same story why there are so many adopted girls from China. People who abandoned their kids don't deserve kids.
I would like to adopt but from my research is hard to adopt a child that is between 5 and 10. My daughter like to be a sister. I want to adopt like years but looking to the process that takes so long. Make me just lose hope. Can i travel to china and adopt. Is it easier from USA . I notice when people go through American adoption agency it's take longer. Or some find out that the child is sick. Which in different situations is hard to go through that. It doesn't sound like you've researched this very well if you're asking questions on a CZcams comment section. Adoption is a very serious business. People don't adopt to give their child a playmate. Special needs adoptions are all that's available in China with varying degrees of medical needs depending on what family can handle. Btw good news is that an older child (5-10 like you mentioned) adoption is one of the easier kinds to do and you can get grants for that.
I wish I could adopt so much, especially one so young. I don't understand why they don't do that as early as possible. Surely that's better than letting them either being pushed from pillar to post, or bonding with a foster parent only to be snatched from the only life they've known. Then there's the cost of caring for them. I do understand that people need to be vetted, but how long does that take really?

While yes, very sad kids are given up in China, many were also stolen by the government, forced adoptions. Some kids are told they were left in a box, but not always true.
They forgot to talk about filicide In China, and the approximate 180 million babies girls killed at the hands of their own parents. Filicide has been an accepted practice in China for hundreds of years. I do give the orphanages credit for getting the baby girls out of China to other countries...

Because most people want to adopt a child younger than 6 and in the U.S it's actually really hard to be able to adopt a child younger than 6. The U.S is always trying to keep children with their biological families if possible. If any reason they can't keep them with their parents, locating other families or the family is unstable etc just a lot of it comes into play. The children are put in the foster care system until all those can get resolved. The only real way to able to go through with adoption here if the family foster to adopt which can take years and during the whole process any biological family member can come in and take back the child. It has happened before. So technically it's a little easier to adopt internationally because they are guaranteed a child if the family is accepted through the program.
Also there a priority list in the U.S too. First dips goes to couples that can not physically have a child. If they already have children depending on how many you have you get put towards the bottom of the list for adoptions. I watch a lot of adoption videos and parents explaining why they chose to adopt internationally instead of within the U.S.
