  • In this video I explore the exhaust options for my Aprilia RS660.
I include sound samples, db readings and weights of each exhaust.
    Static results ‪@5000rpm‬
    SC project CRT - 109.4db
    Pipewerx 380mm - 104.3db
    PowerTech 380mm - 101.7db
    Racetec 300mm - 99.9db
DISCLAIMER - Pipewerx have pointed out that all cans should have a running/bedding in period to allow them all to be tested evenly. In theory, each of these cans will be quieter after a proper bedding in process which allows stitching to melt and expand properly.

Would you say the crt is too loud for a daily bike? Will it be to loud for the rider?

It's too loud for me, even with decent ear plugs.
It's the only exhaust I've ever had in 30 years of riding that I would consider too loud 👍
Honestly not sure how others are tolerating it.

How do you compare this motorcycle to a Thruxton RS

I've not ridden the RS, only an older version which I think might have been the R version of the Thruxton. Not ridden them back to back either, it's been a year or two between them.
I summarise the Thruxton as being a torquey cruiser. It doesn't want to rev like the Aprilia does. It's happy with you short shifting and taking it easy. The Aprilia is a lot happier to get up and go.
The RS660 is a noticeably light bike when you move it, sit on it and ride it. You can feel how light it is.
The Thruxton isn't heavy by some standards but it just feels like a normal weight for a full size bike if that makes sense.
Hope that helps. Of course these bikes aren't direct competitors so it's hard to draw too many comparisons.

@UpsideDownFork Thank you for your response. I have the opportunity to buy a Throxton TFC, which is a very special bike but I'm coming from S1000RR and a Fireblade CBR1000RR, wanted to try something different and came across the Thruxton, but I'm worried owning it might feel lacking some tech. Also the resale worries me, I might end up stuck with it, I'm looking for something that I'm happy to use as a daily rider, I'm not going to track and not touring or anything like that. I've tried both bikes and love them both but can't own both unfortunately.

@@Arabeon I can't see you getting stuck with a limited edition bike like the Thruxton TFC. You might even find it appreciates if you keep it long enough.
I must say that the RS660 is a really really great all rounder, but it never feels special in any way.
The Thruxton definitely has a bit more character which helps a bike feel special.
I've ridden all but the newest generations of S1000RR and CBR1000RR. They are also extremely capable and competent bikes but don't really have any character, so you might be pleasantly surprised by owning the Thruxton TFC.

@UpsideDownFork Thank you so much for your feedback, I truly appreciate your input, all my friends are into supersport bikes, so a little worried I'll be left out 😅 anyway I'll have to make a decision this weekend, let's see how it goes.
