Asian sports teams play way higher volume of games and don't get injured as much. Have you ever had a physical job? I think it would change your perspective on this pretty quick. The speed of the game isn’t faster today, they barely play defense or run these days..it just shows how entitled the players are now. They can’t even acknowledge why the NBA felt the need to put the rule in place. Players were just taking games off all the time..and they think they are being “forced” to play games. Forced to do their job, which only requieres them to play 80% of the schedule to earn awards. The awards are extra, that’s not being forced to do anything. If they are really injured then sit out..no one’s forcing themselves to go play injured just so they can be on an All NBA Team. It’s just absurd that the players completely lack awareness of what the real problem is.

"I remember asking him why he couldn’t just sit a game out because he was hurting. He said, 'What about the fans that saved up to watch me play just once?' He never forgot about his fans. If he could help it, he would play every minute of every game. He loved you all so much."

They talk like they are working at Walmart. Rivers mentioned their knees touching. Those were the players that went an extra mile. You are going to have the ones who stand out and the ones that don't. Rivers tbh wasn't really a standout NBA wise so I'm not surprised to hear him say that. You can't dodge injuries and other things forever. And u know what they might have injuries but they def got enough to make up for it. And not just money, so many other opportunities because of the legacy they built for themselves individually. Not everybody is blessed to be able to stay out of the way and not play hella minutes to cause injuries. And not to mention the players who made it to where rivers didn't have play so many minutes for him to get hurt. That's a slap in their face too. It's the NBA, like if you don't wanna do what u are asked to get theMILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars. Then don't play and set people up to think u are there for the long haul. The issue started when LeBron and prime players started resting, that's when the shit became a joke. As a fan I have no issue with a 17, 18, 19 year player taking nights off when needed, it's the guys who haven't even played a decade and need the night off, guys who play vs bad teams but sit vs good teams. Blaming a coach using a strategy to prolong his veterans is the issue here, because once again we skip over the real issue, because if you remember pop was not trying to let kawhi take games off when he felt like it, only his old guys.

    There’s no added incentive for showing up to work 80% of the time??? 😂 this is why no one will ever find nba players relatable. They are expected to do the bare minimum, be compensated for it, then when their boss tells them to do a tiny bit more it’s “well you aren’t gonna pay us more so why would we?”

    Remember, these players get paid the way they do because of ticket sales and TV contracts. Some players make as much as 6 figures a game, not a year. These current players are soft and have a sense of entitlement. All fans have to do is stop going to the games and watching on tv. Then the NBA revenue will diminish and these players' narratives will change. I'd rather see college or High school games anyway because they play harder.

    It should've been 70, but they knew there would be a ton of media pushed players that would have no hope of reaching this: Embiid, AD, Kawhi, Lebron, KD, Steph, Zion plus Giannis (who isn't really media pushed). The MVP race would basically come down to Jokic, Luka and Tatum every year. They made it 65(which is slightly less than %80 of the games) to give those players a chance, and they're still complaining about it.

      But most "fans" of today say that they are "better athletes", is that an excuse and a compliment at the same time? Plus, what is really tiring is defense, I've never seen any team in any sport tired of playing offense only. And the most important: They are paid MILLIONS of dollars to play, if they're not up to the task then quit and let other true players take their place.

    • @justine8163
      @justine8163 Před 2 měsíci

      Game is faster cuz no one plays defense anymore. Nor do people post up in the paint and instead just jack up 3s all game or run straight to the rim. The reason they’re out of breath is because they aren’t in shape. Probably why they need to take so many games off throughout the season, because they aren’t in shape. Players in the 80/90s played with way more intensity on both ends of the court, played entire seasons, and didn’t need to take off games because they were out of shape. Todays players soft asf

    65 games is 79 percent of the season. That means you have leeway to miss 20 percent of the total games and still win an award. What regular person has the privilege of taking more than 20 percent of their days off and getting promoted? Let alone the fact that you’re playing at the highest level and being paid millions. The least you can do is play 65 games.

    I don’t agree with the 65 game rule because we have already seen it lead to much more injuries, everyone is consistently injured and you don’t watch basketball if you say otherwise. Load management is important if you all want to see entertaining playoff basketball. The data stating that rule doesn’t lead to injury is cap, look at the injury list on ESPN, load management is highly necessary.

    I think the NBA needs to assign their own doctors to teams, this way they can also evaluate the players. If someone is sitting because of knee soreness then deduct those games. But If someone plays 64 games and then their knee shatters...that's just insane to say "not good enough". Clear and obvious injuries shouldnt count. It's not an injury prevention rule, it's a no resting rule.

If the speed of the game is to much for ur body learn how to play slower at certain times. U play less back to backs less traveling more comfortable traveling, the season has became longer to supplement more rest. The players abusing the system is the reason this system was created. I don’t care about millionaires crying. Nothing will change my mind.
