Won't forget this one anytime soon. 3 days before my 12th birthday. How I rode the highs and lows with the Fab Five back then....
Mmo
Fisher was a really good coach. An excellent guy also. They did him wrong making him the fall guy. He epitomized class. All those players love that guy to this day. Made excellent coaching decisions, calmed guys down. I have a lot of respect for Fisher.
Thank you for posting this! Quite possibly THE most underrated Elite 8 game in the history of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.
The Greatest Game was the day before in Philadelphia…
The other 1992 Elite Eight OT game. Tremendously underrated game all-time.
This Elite Eight was polar opposites- 2 OT thrillers, 2 blowouts.
Seeing Howard do the cabbage patch still brings back memories 😂
Chris Webber became my favorite basketball player as youngster
The grit we played with yesterday reminded me so much of this game. Took em out both times! Go Blue
I remember watching this game with my mom and brother when this was on. I was 9 years old then.
Beast mode on that block at 8:44. Also, Jalen smackin' the dude's hand at 11:00 is hilarious.
And Jimmy King elbowed dude right b4 that lol
Goaltending in slow-motion.
Thank you for the upload
I'm calling it now. A regional final/final four rematch in 2021 between Michigan and OSU. What a great way to find some respite for sports fans from all these coronavirus cancellations. Go Blue and Go Bucks!
Great times! I was in 7th grade and lived about 30 minutes north of Cincinnati.
I loved it because I absolutely despise anything Ohio State! I'm Penn State football and Duke basketball, so it's anti-Cockeyes and Tar Holes! But was not surprised by the result here! The Fab Five were the first freshman class that to me was beyond their years! Yes there was the Webber timeout in '93, but the majority of the time they played unflappable basketball and weren't afraid of the moment being bigger! I was 20 and in my fourth semester of college; remember it vividly!
This is one of the best games in NCAA history and it doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Especially with so much at stake. And that Michigan had lost to them twice in the regular season. 5 long career pros… Webber, Howard, Rose, Jackson and Funderburke in this game.
This was high level basketball. I always consider myself the 6th member of thar fab 5. I just played at a DII HBCU.
You're welcome...This is most definitely the most underrated Elite 8 game in the history of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, with the Florida/UCONN one being at a close second (for some reason).
Thanks for sharing.
OSU's Lawrence Funderburke and Jim Jackson eventually teamed up with Michigan's CWebb in NBA's Sacramento Kings for one season (2002-03)?
Hoops world can be so small in ironic team-ups, regardless of circumstance/s.
I definitely feel old watching this.. Good old days! Lol
I've always wanted to see this game!
I love these classic games
Webber n dem were too much for Ohio state. Fab 5 all day
All day on one day, They were blown out the previous two meetings that year.
It's great to be able to pull up clasic game such as this one Jim Jackson Lawrence Funderburk..The Fab 5 great game I will always this game
Great game. Jim Jackson was a beast in college though.
Just imagine if he would have not dealt with Toni Braxton when he was with the Mavs
During player introductions, it definitely sounds like a pro-OSU crowd
I worked at Rupp at the time. It was about 75% for Ohio St, I still couldn't believe that Mich started 5 Freshmen, Hell of a game too. It was a Sunday Reg, UK had just lost to Duke the night before.
I remember watching this game and thinking the dream was dead when Jent had that open look...
When people say that for time travel they would go kill Hitler - I say I would pisses Chris Jent and make that shot
And what makes this better is that this is one of the few Fab Five tournament games that have not been vacated! It still counts!
You can keep holding this L, Buckeye fans.
^Michigan vacated its two 1992 Final Four games and its status as tournament runner-up. Official record is 24-8.
The fab five was overrated and highly cocky! Second is for losers!
@bradypatrick5405 Can you play basketball? If not zip it fam....
@@bradypatrick5405Also , I can tell that you don't know chit about sports because you're supposed to be cocky and confident on the court. I sense bigotry.
They all count.
Back for Webber's Hall of Fame induction and reunion with Jalen Rose.
Oh yeah, that's right, Florida did play UCONN in the '94 Sweet 16. I think the UCONN/Maryland game in 2002 was the one being the close second, to me, in addition to the 2005 Michigan State/Kentucky.
Wow these two teams were loaded! The crowd was definitely going for Ohio state lol
+A.D. Smith Yeah all those hicks drove down to kentucky
Love the faces of the suckeye fans toward the end.....
And this win still counts. It hasn't been vacated.
So many emotions beating OSU to get to the final 4
aw, hail yeah mane…fy ass post, remember watch’n this muhfucka like it was yesterday
this junt was too good
I have a friend who looks just like Chris Jent so anytime I see Jent I laugh.
Doesn't get any better than Michigan-Ohio State in the Big Ten
Who were you rooting for back then?
In my opinion the 2nd best game of the 1992 Tournament way behind the famous Kentucky vs Duke game.
I would have to agree with you on that one.
@@thacozzman89 The Duke Kentucky 1992 East regional final is more likely the greatest college basketball tournament game cause it had two blue bloods of college basketball plus the overtime 4 lead changes who ever had the ball last was gonna win from Kentucky being on probation for 3 years Duke trying repeat as national champions
Funderburke to this day is STILL the coolest name EVER in college basketball...sounded like the annnouncer was saying THUNDERburke ⚡😈🌩️
I'm still mad! ....Every Buckeye fan including myself.... just remember Juwan Howard doing the Cabbagepatch after winning....SMH lol
I'll never forget as a kid watching this live and juwan Howard cabbage patching lol
When game was played my mom was gave birth to me on this date. I was born at 4:54 am.
RIP Billy Packer
Really surprising that they had Nantz and Packer at this game instead of UK-Duke.
Not really!!The Fab five was the most talked about team during this period of time
Nobody anticipated Duke-Kentucky being anywhere near the game it turned out to be. Most people figured Duke would beat UK (or UMass) fairly handily. The Southeast looked like the more competitive regional.
The duke Kentucky game was played in Philadelphia on Saturday March 28th
The flyers had a game on the 29th, nantz and packer always did the 4th and final elite 8 game.
Ohio's State's sneakers were fire great game.
This one hurt
The buckeyes had a great team on the floor, I look forward to having OSU having a basketball team that is great again! "O-H"
22:52: nice clean play here lol
Ohio St had far to many turnovers this game other than that can't complain it was a good game but the young and hungry Wolverines got it done at the end
This Ohio State Basketball team should have been in the final four
Shoulda woulda coulda ...blah blah blah
No the better team won. Go Blue
Alot of it had to do with the poor performance of Chris Jent! For a senior with his experience at that time to commit multiple stupid decisions and mental mistakes (each one costly and they eventually add up), is inexcusable! If it hadn't been for Jackson and Funderburke, Ohio St would have gotten smoked! But Jent's awful game didn't help either!
Credit does go to the Wolverines though! By the time the NCAA's rolled around the Fab Five had played enough together they were veterans and you could tell as this game went on! They played more cohesively and mature than Jent did! No longer were they freshman and they weren't your ordinary freshman to begin with
Rose, Webber and Howard were unflappable! Except for Webber's agonizing TO (none left) in '93, the moment wasn't too big for them to grasp!
florida/UCONN Happened in the sweet 16 of 1994 not the elite eight that was BC/Florida in 1994
1:26:34 That missed j
50:10 Ted Valentine: "I know, no matter what I do, I'm not gonna make everybody happy." Accurate words.
TV's TV: It's all about the show.
Nothing better than watching pissed off OSU fans... go blue!
1:26:38 billy: "OT!" Jim: "OT it is!"
What about Jim"s "JENT!" sounded like he was trying to get out a "load." LOL! jk I love Nantz's announcing.
Nance is so mad he didn't get the Duke assignment. He's gritting his teeth the whole time.
Yeah he was ticked that he didn’t get to announce one of the greatest college games ever. Glad it was Lundquist who called it
Future teammates: Webber and Jackson, Funderburke all future Kings.
dat chevy lumina tho!
its 2021 and I still almost had a heart attack. GO BLUE
This and the UCLA game the next year had me in tears as a 13 year old,But they pulled it off love 90s BALL!
Juan Howard looked 40 yrs of age as a freshman and has not aged.
He hasn't aged at all; only a year younger than myself (he's 48)! Still looks majority the same as he did 20-25 years ago
And he'll have Michigan contending every year from here on out! Ashame they didn't have Livers because I believe they'd have given Baylor a better game than Gonzaga did!
Hard to beat a good team 3 times
OSU was 2-1 vs U of M that year and beat them for the Big 10 title.
My favorite team is Duke. I was rooting for Michigan this game:)
Do you know the outrage Bob Knight and his antics would cause now a days!? It would be an entire 💩 ⛈!! Bob would be 🚫 and 🔒 🚔 up!! 😂😂
They beat us twice during the season but it was because of all if them turnovers...i was nervous about this one because jackson was a beast.
JIM JACKSON BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Billy Packer before he ate Oliver Miller.
For those who didn't know, JUWAN Howard is the COACH at Michigan at the moment
Might not be for long…
Definitely after this horrible season!
I wish they could beat Ohio state in football
Why does the commentator keep emphasizing “playground mentality” when referring to anything Michigan does except palinka and voshkul , the internet is cringe at best 😒
Uh you know why
Loved Chris Jent, but if he just could've hit that shot. Also, recall: Bucks had beaten scUM twice during the regular season. Hard to beat any team 3 x's.
and don't forget duke lose to UNC in the acc final in 91 but the blue devils did win the national title
For those who didn't know, JUWAN HOWARD, is the Coach at Michigan at this time
James, he picked the worst time of his career to have his worst game! He played stupid throughout and for him being the senior with his experience, there was no excuse for him to not have been more mentally with it! Especially against a familiar opponent! The Buckeyes needed him there and headwise he wasn't!
@@bradlewis6514 I guess I hadn’t thought of it that way. Honestly, I didn’t look at Jent’s overall game stats.
@@t6v5c2 it's funny when we look at things in hindsight from watching it years later! I was 20 at the time, remembering he had a subpar performance but until I watched the replay - he really did cost them!
Jent sucked he could never hit big shots !
Juwan Howard is such trash
