    The Alfa system is more than adequate but it seems current manufacturers are selling their machines solely on the info/entertainment system. Too bad for them. I bought my '21 Stelvio Sport Ti as a drivers machine and not as an iPad on wheels. BRAVO for AR.

    Unpopular opinion: judging a car by its infotainment instead of its driveability makes you an occasional driver, not deserving of a truly engaging drive like the Giulia offer.

    • @Ronnet
      @Ronnet Před rokem +5

      While I think Giulia is a car any driving enthusiast can end up loving, most people out there are daily commuters and thus far from "occasional" drivers. For those people the infotainment can be high on the priority list. Heck, for me, an Alfa lover, I wouldn't buy a Giulia before 2018 because it lacks Android Auto. Is it the most important feature? Nope, but price differences between 2017 and 2018 models are so small that I can afford to factor it into my decision making.

      Calm down. Unless the Guilia pushing over 400 HP, you are the occasional driver.

    I got a data transfer cable and my Stelvio still won’t bring up the Car Play.
    When I have the phone unlocked nothing comes up on the screen.
    It’s a 2018 and in Canada would that make a difference?
    When I hit the talk button on the steering wheel the Siri works but no car play.

      You can fix the brightness on the left hand side of the wheel, it’s a scroll wheel that dosent click fully in, so scroll up hold and brightness will go up same holding it down

  • @johnpirritano5502
    @johnpirritano5502 Před 5 lety

    Does the Apple CarPlay allow you to use the touch pad on the drive mode knob? Mine is a 2017 so I don’t have Car Play. Alfa is going to buyback mine (lemon law claim), but I want to buy another and it needs to have the Apple CarPlay, so I know it needs to be a 2018 or newer.

    This video was pretty much useless since you didn’t use CarPlay to do anything like listen to music, send/receive text message, navigation, etc.

    • @CarTechConnect
      @CarTechConnect  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you for watching! The focus of this tutorial style is going over the actual connection procedure and unique aspects of the Alfa Romeo Carplay system (usb locations, screen size, resolution and frame rate, user interface (touch screen or physical buttons), and detected hard buttons) . Listening to music, send/receive text and navigation setup will all be the same between all makes and models and can be found with a generic CarPlay video. 👍👍

    • @joelee1195
      @joelee1195 Před 5 lety +1

      Car Tech Connect then I suggest you retitle your video to something else other than “CarPlay tutorial” because I have no idea how to use CarPlay after watching your video. I did look up a few CarPlay videos like you suggested and they all used a touchscreen interface. Since the Giulia doesn’t have a touchscreen I don’t see how your suggestion helps. It’s quite simple - you can’t claim to show how CarPlay works on the giulia without actually using it.

    • @CarTechConnect
      @CarTechConnect  Před 5 lety +3

      Joe Lee Thank you for the response. The video is clearly labeled “Alfa Romeo Apple Carplay Tutorial” and not “CarPlay Tutorial” If you actually watched the video you would of learned how to clearly use and implement the physical knob controls on the Alfa Romeo’s version of carplay. If you have any future questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I will gladly help you out. Thanks again for the watch 🙌🙏

    • @joelee1195
      @joelee1195 Před 5 lety

      Car Tech Connect here are my questions. How do I use Maps? How do I enter an address? How do I use Message? How do I enter and listen to messages?

    • @CarTechConnect
      @CarTechConnect  Před 5 lety +1

      Joe Lee the easiest way to do all of those things is with Siri which is built into the steering wheel Voice command button (explained in the video). Once you click that button and get the confirmation tone you can say “enter address” “take me too (address) “read my messages” “send message too (name)” etc.. and Siri will walk you through the rest. If you rather use the physical buttons you must use the control knob while on the home screen to select the desired app (Apple maps, google maps, Waze, messages, etc) and then once you click on said app you will see the sub task you are requested and just move the knob around to highlight and click to confirm (navigation entry, new message, read messages etc)
