Mike McCready should be listed in the top five list of world class guitarists. It is inspiring to hear that he struggles with Crohn"s disease which normally destroy's an individual's life.He has great fortitude, self discipline and a standard of excellence in his music.Thank you for this clip.
I was also diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2010 which is right around the time I was completely blown away by hearing McCready's solo in Alive for the first time #PJforlife
sorry William Idk you but you seem like a good soul and yes mccready was one of my first influences as a guitarist and if you like his work you should hear Mad Season 'Above' the album is a masterpiece and his guitar work on the album is his BEST!! You ever heard of it?? Layne from alice in chains was lead singer, mccready only guitarist, j.thomas baker on bass guitar and the badass Barret Martin on drums.
for me mike mcCready and john frusciante are the best guiatrist out there playing in bands they are the Hendrix of our time to my ears, deleo is cool but not at that level
lead guitarist doesn't mean 'first' or 'better' it just means the one that does the solos. Mike McCready is the lead guitarist, Stone Gossard is the rhythm guitarist. They are both good and equally important to the music.
Absolutely. The combination of Stone and Mike is what makes PJ’s unique sound. Stone acknowledges that Mike is better technically at lead. Stone is very self-depreciating about his guitar skills, but I love his style, especially on songs like Animal and Of the Girl. Mike acknowledges that Stone is a better songwriter. There’s an interview with Mike where he talked about writing Given to Fly and feeling stuck trying to bridge two parts together. He called Stone, played the two parts, and Stone created the bridge over the phone in minutes. That’s a good example of why PJ is still together.
Stone is the most private in PJ. I've had the honour of being on the rail I front of stone for a few shows and he just amazing to watch from that close. Heading to South America this fall for 6 more shows.
+Hitch Slap shit No Code is my personal favorite.... Ten is simply one of the best albums ever made...I could not debate that brother but really? Vs and Vitalogy don't hit you like Ten? It did and still does for me..I am just curious about your thoughts on those 2 albums plus No Code which has my fav. PJ song "Off He Goes" and I think "Red Mosquito" was on that album...idk hell I have a hard enough time remembering my own albums and songs...but yes Ten is a masterpiece. Hit me back when you see this..I would like to see how you feel about Vs and Vitalogy. God bless.
+Hitch Slap P.S. Me neither heck it is way to easy to get a gun in this country. I own one for protection and protection alone..keep my family safe...I am a durn good shot but I don't care to go shooting...pull the trig and you spit money out...that is more guitar gear and recording equipment lol
J.T. Bomar I honestly stopped caring after Ten. I should listen to the other albums so I can offer a more informed opinion. I guess I really dug their chemistry on Ten.
ohplezz me too...Pearl Jam are nothing like the use to be..I still have respect for them tho but Dave A was their best drummer hands down, Matt belongs in Soundgarden, he is amazing tho
I was the biggest PJ fan for 20 years until Eddie Vedder shared his stage with that witch Beyonce. I dont care what the cause is PJ and Beyonce are supposed to represent totally different things in music and after Eddie did a song with Beyonce i quit listening to them and had My PJ tattoo covered up......#PJletmedown
Getting worked up over it to the point of covering up a tattoo? That seems a little ridiculous! That would be almost like having an AC/DC tattoo, and then having it covered up because Axel Rose filled in as Lead singer.

Lol
"What were you just playing right there"
"I was just making stuff up"
Yeh..I cringed at that.. Ugghh..don't be a dick!
Lance “fan”, you meant
gotta love mike mcggready one of my favorite guitar players of all time
Him and Dean Deleo, so underrated though Mike does tend to get pretty good respect and credit.
for me mike mcCready and john frusciante are the best guiatrist out there playing in bands they are the Hendrix of our time to my ears, deleo is cool but not at that level
Pearl Jam is a lot more than a band for me now.
oh yeah,my favorite musicians of all time ,love it,thanks for sharing
The white falcon is a beautiful guitar and in fact it's my dream guitar
Mike: I like how it looks, it's pretty cool...
Amazing band! PERIOD
Got that Jeff Tweedy SG that is so sick
Not an SG guy. The JT turned me around. The baddest SG and one of the baddest Gibby's ever. That blue makes me cry. Like '65 Corvette.
I like how he throws the word "Infallible" in there, nice Lightning Bolt reference
My favorite guitar 🎸 Solo from Mike McCready is off the mad season above album song Wake up. I believe he was using that same strat
ed ved is the coolest lyricsist and frontman ever.. all the lyrics ahhhh.. so intriguing..
the greatest band ever
If you want some sick lead playing by McCready try listening to November Hotel by Mad Season
Will do, thanks for the recommendation 👍👍👍
DUUUUUUDDDDEEE
Good song 🎉❤
Jeff Tweedy has his own model of guitar? That's awesome
I honestly don't recognize who is Pearl jam's lead guitar. They both are very consistent

Dude, Mike mccready on the white falcon at 0:42 that had to be amazing
Mike McReady playing a Tweedy signature SG is meta cool
THE ARE NO WORDS.
I am surprised PJ hasn't done a rig rundown
The Great Mike McCready, my Crohn's brother
I love the color of it....lol.....awesome review of the SG, Mike....
I loved my SG! And Hiwatt half-stack. FUN.
Too bad Stone Gossard never get attention for some reason.
And he was te main composer on Ten.
Stone was in Mother Love Bones, possibly could've been the best grunge band if Andy didn't pass away.
Stone is the most private in PJ. I've had the honour of being on the rail I front of stone for a few shows and he just amazing to watch from that close.
Heading to South America this fall for 6 more shows.
TheZooropaBaby he does get attention from mtv back in the dy and from the magazines
I always thought mike was the under dog guitarist for some reason
I don't think this reporter even realizes he got closer to a Pearl Jam Rig Rundown than anyone ever has before.
Premier Guitar should ask them for a rig rundown, would be awesome!
Lucky son of a bitch got backstage with Mike... You made a good point. Besides the good music and more importantly they are all good guys.
Whan i listen Mike music I forget
Problem
Who is the guy sitting in the background? 2:06
Pearl Jam can save the world.
...love pearl jam so much!! In my book it goes LedZep, Rush, Pearl Jam!! The holy trio of fucking rock!!
That's an interesting selection! Very eclectic
The Who!
Who?
Wow?! Pearl Jam is nowhere close to Zep or Rush... primus has a better shot at being on that list than PJ
HOLY CRAP!!! "TOE JAM"??? @ 4:17 SEC.
2:00 That guy everyone who plays the guitar hates
Juliano Rodrigues he was just playing some blues pentatonic licks lol
Juliano Rodrigues yep that was cringey
Yeah what a complete douch!!
"just making stuff up" that's called improv mr. reporter man haha
You have mike there yet not looking at his pedal board and amp settings 😑
I like Mike only because he is fellow UFO geek!! Otherwise PJ got way too played out back in the 90's.
Man he looks soo old
Makes you realize how old we are LOL
Nice job on your rig lmao fool
Love their old stuff, not much of a fan of the new stuff or their politics.
+ohplezz
I am a fan of Ten. After that, meh... not so much. I don't disagree with Ed's views on gun legislation, though.

Lightning bolt was weak... the song.

I’ll second that Ballsdeep !! ( luv your name ).

of all the things eddie's outspoken about and people he's collaborated with, Beyonce was the deal breaker for you?
They haven't written a good song in 15 years
Pearl Jam was the band of somebody's time? I don't think that's correct. They're like U2. A really gloomy U2.
Amazing band! PERIOD
