You’re sent to a desert island for the rest of your life. What headphones would you take with you if budget was no issue?
Sennheiser Momentum 4 for me
Well, you're not going to be taking any calls so for me, again, it would come down to comfort comfort comfort and as I say, the QC45's are the most comfortable to me. Sound wise they are plenty good enough. Won't be missing anything. As for sound, and I know you don't like to EQ your headphones but I use the Bass boost (or whatever it's called) in the Bose app and they sound fantastic. Right, so when are you sending me my ticket to this dessert island? 😎
i only have airpods pro, but now i am convinced to get myself the Bose QC45 as well! thank you for the review! 👍
AirPods Max for sure
Must have been intuition, I bought 2 pair just before your teaser the other day.
You perfectly describe this line of Bose headphones and their iconic design. I have the 35s and the same holds true. I find myself choosing them above the others I own most days. Not the best sounding of them all but overall the most brilliant design.
I have them and love them. They’re so light to wear and very comfortable even long hours of wearing them. First ever headphones that I feel comfortable. The sound you can always find others that sounds also nice but the comfort of this one is amazing!
Hey.. I saw one today and i loved the sound quality, I really want to buy it. But i read a review that the music can be heard through the headphone, which I dislike. Is it true?
if you have the volume high then yes@@sash4831
I don’t use headphones on a daily basis, but when I travel, I do want good noise cancelling and COMFORT. I have the Bose NC 700 which, as you pointed out, are great. But I find them a bit on the heavy side. They feel sturdy but also a little stiff and rigid. While some people may find that attractive, they end up becoming a little uncomfortable to me after long hours. I’d really like to get my hands on these 🎧
Just purchased a pair after listening to your interview you were 💯 percent correct! AWESOME thanks so much!👍👌
I’m seriously considering getting these for work! Thank you for the thorough and honest review 🙂
It’s good to see such precise reviews
Very nice review and good work 👍🏼 thank’s for helping us out
Also, I got glimpses of your backpack. What backpack do you have? I love the leather elements. It seems like a backpack I would carry. Thank you.
So glad you made this video. I have considered my Bose QC45's to be the best of the headphones I have; AirPods Max (too heavy/don't fold/crappy case) Sony XM5's (ear cups too small/Crappy case). One thing you didn't mention (and which I think ALL headphones should have) is a ruddy big R and L so you can tell which way they go on!! Every time I put my Sony's on I have to search for the microscopic r & l that they've done their best to hide, it takes my ages. I just reach for the QC45's. They are the most comfortable headphones I have ever used, and comfort cannot be understated for importance. Great review Mark.
Thanks!
Honest comment!!❤❤❤❤ Love QC45
@MarkEllisReviews
I love the headphones collections and your room, I wish I spend a day exploring all headphones in your room :)
Thanks Mark for this in-depth stuff
I bought those and they are my first headphones I bought ever. I am very happy they are amazing.
Just demod these at Costco sounded great glad to hear they’re your fav!
I have a pair of qc35 2nd edition, Have had them for 5+ years and use them everyday. I have replaced the headband and battery once and the earpads every 6 months. Still look and feel new. Bose is always a quality investment.
This is my first time watching your video and I really like your review style ❤️
been thinking about getting a new pair of headphones for a while, lost my airpods and finally jumped the gun and started searching. after this video I will be getting the qc45, amazing video and amazing description of the headphones!
First I‘d like to thank you Mark for the great review 👍🏻! I have many headphones, bluetooth as well as wired. But the QC 45 are my daily drivers at the office as well as on traveling. I‘ve tested so many bluetooth headphones (approx. 8-10 pairs), but in the end I stuck with the QC 45s. As of now the best decision I made! Great headphones, super lightweight, very comfortable, sound as well well as the all other features are more than „ok“ and one of the best in class regarding noise cancellation! And I bought them for 199 Euro.
are they ok for calls on macbook?
In the UK, you can get the bose QC SE for £190. It’s the same as the qc45 but come with a soft case. Just makes it more worth it in comparison to other headphones, plus you can buy the hard case separately for 20 quid.
I agree with your thoughts about the case. I carry so much already that a case is considered too. I couldn’t decide between the Sony XM4 and the QC45 but it seems I’ve decided. I’ve had Bose before but the market is so competitive now. The sound is important, regardless of build quality. My last pair lasted very long too. Thank you
why did you finally buy?
@@avi4francisan hour with ur mother
I have the qc25s and love them. I also hand the qc45s and again love them.. without doubt the best ever. For me it’s just a bit of tech that works flawless every time. I can sit at my desk and completely block out the office and just get work done. Your right the case is a wonder of design. No fear about letting it rattle around my backpack. I have the don’t m5 in my Amazon cart, but it’s just a bit of window shopping. Liked to my tv and watching the golf is just awesome. Great review and super production of the video. Subd as well.
I love my Bose 700! Keep up the great reviews.
I just bought the Bose QC45’s, and after 2-3 days of enjoying them, I exchanged my QC45’s for the Bose 700’s just to be certain I was not missing out on anything. The QC45’s are actually a little better. I’m giving the 700’s a little more time to be sure, or find some reason to love and keep them. But so far the QC45’s win for me. First thing is, QC45’s have deeper and roomier earcups inside. Crazy because the 700’s have a wider diameter earcup, but not as much room inside. Also, the aware mode with noise cancelation disabled, this performs very bad. You can hear your self through the speakers with a slight latency to it it sounds like you are listening to your self over an intercom. The Bose QC45’s some how master this and sound absolutely natural. Last but not least, the QC45’s block out sounds slightly better when noise cancelation is on. One thing that is upsetting is, I got these Bose 700’s brand new sealed at Walmart and when I opened them they were dead as a door nail. After opening the Bose app, I saw my Bose 700’s were manufactured in 2019. So I had to charge them for 15 minutes before they would even turn on lol. I updated the firmware on my 700’s. And I’m just really not pleased with them. I thought they would be better than the QC45’s. One more thing, my Bose 700’s also have an older Bluetooth device inside of them. While the QC45’s support a newer BT standard. There are things that the Bose 700’s are great at, but I am just not loving them at all, which is a disappointment for me. I hope this is helpful for people deciding who can’t easily try devices before buying them. But right now, I want my QC45’s back lol. I will give it another day or so with the 700’s to see if anything miraculous changes my mind. I will say 100% the only clear advantage for the Bose ANC700 headphones is they are slightly louder than the Bose QC45’s. The 700’s and just barely reach “Hurt your ears” the QC45’s cannot get as loud.
@@videocardzrule354 bro I'm planning to get Bose qc45 for watching movies. How s the sound bro ? Do you recommend me to get this ?
Dope review, looking to get a pair FOR SURE
Just went an ordered (using your link) :) Thanks for the great reviews (this and the earlier one, not so complimentary to QC45).
Exactly the video I was looking for!
Awesome!
Thank you very much!!! You made me decide for this. My first contact with brand headphones, some time before I became audiophile, were the Bose Bluetooth headphones that came with cable. Later on visited some CZcams posts by Mexican audiophiles that said the audio community hates Bose because they blame the company for “manipulating “ the sound to make it appear more “nice” for average people. That’s why I am impressed by your choice given that you have your table full of the best Bluetooth headphones in the world
I wanted to like the Sony XM4s and XM5s… but the ear cup isn’t deep enough for me. I got ear fatigue on what I would consider a short flight. The Bose have an angle in the cup for your ear, which makes a huge difference for me.
I have the old Bose QC 25 with a cable since 2018 - wearing them every day in the gym - and the construction still holds up with no issue.
QC25 is actually better. Because you can find them at a really cheap price. And run them through a quality bluetooth adapter/amp. The QC45 bluetooth connection is junk, like 99 percent of items with bluetooth, you don't want that so called upgrade. The QC25 also has a AAA battery that can be easily replaced and not have to worry about charging or eventual battery failure that is difficult to replace.
Just changed my q35 pads! 5 years and still going
I missed my original Bose wired noise cancelling earphones. Loved that they don't look so bulky on the cranium. Ordered a new set from your link. I have a pair of Sony XM3 & XM4. I think I have a problem.
I just ordered a pair of the qc45 for my wife for Christmas and now just see there is a NEW version....costs $50.00 more but really minimal upgrades...I almost ordered the Beats Studio pro which I saw in your other review saying those were your new daily ones but heard have heard the ear pad cushions don’t last that long and have to be cut out to be replaced vs the bose that are easier to replace and available from Bose also have read many reviews that question the comfort and small ear cup size....let’s hope my wife likes them! Great review by the way!
Great review. I have QC 35 and the QC earbuds 😊2…. Previous air pod pros that I just couldn’t get on with. II will be buying a pair based on my experience with my earbuds 2 and your review… I was just waiting for a confirmation… and this has been delivered by your review.
Neat video, love the practicality that these offer, price is hard to swallow tho!
I think, given what you get from them, the price is pretty spot-on.
Hey, fantastic video! Watching this after your comparison to the Sony XM4 >1 year ago. It seems like the price is now dropped, and so it's probably a better choice than the Sony XM4 when it comes to reducing as much noise as possible around you?
I've been looking for a change from my 3 year old XM3s. Something which is equally portable, but more comfortable to wear with glasses. And of course, better mic for video calls.
The QC45 goes on sale every couple of months here in India and I'll be sure to get them the next time price drops.
The cabin pressure also feels more neutral bhai, vs Sony. Soundstage is definitely wider. And the earpads don't push on the ear. In sony they do, and they aren't uncomfortable, but a bit annoying if you're using them for hours on end.
please be careful about the call quality, it doesn't matter to me but as far as i know the mic quality sucked when i got them (2020). I'll try it out on my new pair but just be weary.
If, you do want a good calling device i would seriously consider the buds 2 if you have a samsung. they're completely magical for me on calls, and you can get custom tips for them to make them hurt less. i just got another pair of headphones because i started to get infections from mine but. as long as you clean them they're killer for calls
I just got the QC45 and really, really like these cans. For me, it's the best all around headphone for my listening habits. The Anker Q45, Sony 910, Senn HD400, and three others were sent back.
Every quiet comfort headphone I’ve owned has been phenomenal.. I’ve worn out a coupe of pairs over the years
I love my Bose QC35 II they are amazing and I had them free when I purchased my pixel 5 in 2020
Got myself a pair of these, largely influenced by this review. I've recently started traveling a lot for work with some 12+ hour flights, and having to work in a lot of public spaces. I have a pair of Airpods Pro which had been getting me by, but not enough battery life. The QC45's have been a near-perfect buy. I think they sound great and noise cancellation is like magic. And the case really is so practical, it really helps when trying to travel with just carry on luggage instead of a suitcase. The one gripe I'd have is call quality in noisy environments, it's just a lost cause in my experience. Thankfully not a dealbreaker for me.
No regrets at all though, if you're after travel-friendly headphones, these are ace.
Someone else who enjoys a good case - nice!
Hi, do the Bose QC45 have a bass?
@@debrachance4244 you can adjust the bass in the eq settings
May I add the wish for simpel neon or strong visual colour L and R outside..to see them easy ! I never know what is left and right !
and bright L and R inside ! Its a strange thing they believe we are able to read miniture text outside in suttle same colour..
Happens in many products and fixed easily. I took sony 20 to 30 years of product development to think of backlit key in remotes for new tv..
How SLOW is the world designers ? ??
Dont they have user test before they release products to fix all these small things and listen ? Yes, QC 45 is one of the better sounds overall and comfortable, just not really amazing and for some reason Bose dont last well.
Funny you mentionned the intermitent sound cut, I have the same problem with the earbuds QuietComfort first version connected to my LG tv 3M away. I emailed Bose about the issue and no surprise on their response; Customer is the problem!
Just bought a pair, I cannot wait to try them out!
Same here, bought a pair yesterday. I was really uncertain whether to go for the 45. I always read thay Sony is the winner in comparison - but then a friend let me try the 45s. I've almost got the impression that Snoy puts a huge amount of money into having influencers always make the xm4 the winner compared to Bose.
Agree with all of this. While I don't have as many cans as you, I'm close, including a dedicated headphone rig and wired Focals. Given all of this, I have a pair of QC-35s that I reach for all the time. In addition to everything you said, they seem to be indestructible. They've travelled with me everywhere and have been dropped or knocked onto the floor more times than I can count. They just keep going. And connecting to via BlueTooth to my iPhone, iPads and several laptops just works like it should. When the time comes I will be upgrading to the CQ-45.
Nice!
I just bought these refurbished on Bose website for $179! I’m excited!
I have the QC35 and still love them. The most comfortable noise-cancelling headphones I've tried. And, I agree that the case and the way they fold up is very good.
Hi Mark, What about the bose app? Is that necessary to download? Thank you for the review.
I love mine. They are the most comfortable pair of headphones I own. I cant fly without them.
Great review. Thanks!
Interesting! Might need to grab a pair.
I just purchased a pair of Bose QC45. I think I will keep them. They are the best!
the issue I hadwhen I tried the QC45 (or SE, had two pairs of them) is that they produce a crackling noise in the audio, usually when I pause the audio it happened, or sometimes when switching apps. It's really annoying. Have you experienced this at all?
I have had two of these damaged in (light) rain. Same short circuit issue where the battery drains. Why can't they have an IP rating?
I have a lot of premium head phones and the Bose QC 45 are my daily driver too for the reasons you mentioned too! Thanks for another great review !!
Nice to hear it’s not just me!
@@MarkEllisReviews gymcady says that too here on CZcams.
Is there a way to play either side by itself?
@markellisreviews Can we know which kind of headphone stand you are using there? Looks really nice and slim.
Will you please confirm if they are the ones you reviewing as I bought them
Can I ask a simple question. When on a call the others can hear every small sound from my side. Any fix for this? Bose qc35 2. Love them but way too receptive on calls.
Can you run with these? Great review by the way
Watching in April 2024. OC45 and XM4 were for the same price. Went for Bose as I wanted comfort for extended use and also wanted noise cancellation. No regrets.
My wife has the Bose 700 and she likes them but she has really hard time using them because she only has one hand and the joints on the headphones are so loose making hard to get on.
Are the QC better in that regard?
Do they snap or lock in place when you unfold them?
Hey Mark, I know it's unrelated to the video, but I'm very undecided. Do you think Sony xm5 or Sennheiser m4 headphones make more sense?
Would you say you could wear these while working out? Or will they be sent flying from that much movement? I'm thinking jogging and jumping rope mostly.
what if i got sick while using anc, witch one doesnt turn off (super unfortunate) will it go away or i better return them?
Can they be used while charging? I read that you cannot use the ANC when charging.
Not sure if that is the same for other headphones too.
Love everything about this review except for the sound cutting out on Android, this never happened with my QC35IIs...🤔 I had a pair of XM3 buds that did this and I found it highly annoying at the gym.(thankfully the mic broke on them and Sony sent me a replacement set of XM4 buds as a free replacement.)
I’ve been using the QC35iis pretty much since they were released. I think the case is very similar but I literally never use it. Partly because they are usually on my head, but when off my head I fold them up and put them in my pocket. Over 5 years of that doesn’t seem to do them any harm. They last all day - but I do charge them every day.
However I have finally broken them with some water damage… so am getting the QC45s to replace them
How are you finding the qc 45? I also have had qc35iis for 5+ years and am considering an upgrade because I’m starting to notice some deterioration in the sound and connection. Any things you miss about the 35s, how’s the build quality compare?
@@danielarthur04 They are very similar, the main difference is that on the QC45's instead of noise cancelling having "high/low/off", it only has two modes: "quiet" (noise cancelling) or "aware" (amplifying the sound around you so it sounds like you aren't wearing headphones). The aware mode is sometimes helpful so you can listen to something but still hear if someone talks to you, BUT both "quiet" and "aware" modes have terrible problems with wind noise - if you wear them outside and it's ever windy, the mics pick up the wind and make a horrible sound. On the QC35iis I would just turn the noise cancelling off in that situation and that meant no wind noise. I hate that I don't have that option on the 45s and it makes me use them less. In terms of build quality they are very similar to the 35s though. It's nice having USB C. But yeah I wish I could trade them back in for some 35iis because of the wind noise issue. (OR bose could just do a firmware upgrade and let us turn the noise cancelling completely off when it's windy!!!)
I daily the AirPods Pro 2, keep them on a lanyard attached to a belt loop. My over ear headphones are AiAiAi, but I only use those for DJing and producing music in Ableton.
I own these and love them. The noise cancelling is great ! Crying baby in the seat behind you ? No problem. Fire up the headphones, hit my Ray Davies albums and perfect relaxation for the flight. Recharge with USB C quickly and fold up nice and neat...and small. I think the sound quality is just fine for me and I love the app on my iPhone. Can't ask for more. I'm enjoying your reviews as I prep to become a travelling road warrior and find them very helpful (and realistic) about what works. Thanks !
true, the 45 is more comfortable and has better ANC than the 700'which i regret buying it.the problem with 45 i had was that the cushion ripped after a year and the filling in them is seen.another person had the same prob'but the comfort wins
I reluctantly bought the QC45s once my QC25s started to fail after 7 years. A week in and I'm hooked on the 45s. They're just great. I'm hoping to get at least 7 years out of them. We'll see.
Have you done a video on the new quietcomfort headphones? If you have them, do you prefer them to the 45's ❓
I agree with you. Most comfortable, classic Bose sound stage, a d great noise reduction. Regarding buttons, that was one of the reasons I bought them. Love them.
The buttons thing is HUGE.
Can u turn off anc or turn it down
Gonna buy these for my trip in Thailand
I had a pair of beats headphones and ever since they broke after only about a year and a half, I have never looked back and have loved my bose headphones that I've currently have gad for 3 years now, and they have some wear and tear, but none of the wear and tear that makes them unusable
On reddit there were some posts about a possible update what finally should makes it happen to reduce or deactivate anc!
I have zero experience with headphones ! I love classical style music. Fresh Air Series. Especially while kayak touring at night. What headphones would give the best sound quality and not spoil from a splash of water ?
I just want headphones that have a great bass and allows me to hear the instruments and sounds in the background songs that I can’t catch with cheaper headphones, like the airpods and stuff. Will these do the trick or which headphones will?
@MarkEllisReviews is there a way to play either side by itself???
is bluetooth disabled while jack cable is used?
Hey Mark. Another awesome video!
Sorry for long comment but would love your thoughts on something. I’ve recently purchased the QC45s and I love them - but I got them for £189!
Can you shed light on the QC SE? By all accounts (and I can now confirm since I own them) they are QC45s with a soft case instead of a hard one. But for almost half the price?!
Is Bose trying to clear an overstock? Why is nobody talking about this?
By the way totally agree with your assessment: I also went for Bose for the portability. I can even fit them in my Jacket pocket!
I got the SE at Christmas, can confirm they are exactly the same as the QC45 only with a soft case which isn't a deal breaker for me. The sound is better on my Sony xm4s but comfort wins out.
Are my qc45s defective ? They keep cutting out for a like half a second every so often ! Everything else ab them is fantastic but this happens so often that it annoys me . I’m only one day into having them .
So if I plug them in is the audio quality better
They are 220 on Amazon atm. Tempted as now travelling and walking a lot more and the rubber on mine kinda disintegrated whilst on holiday. Maybe cos of the heat. Was rather weird
How about the cabin pressure effect? I have them and find it very distracting. Also, even with self voice on max I can’t hear myself very well on phone calls. Finally people say I don’t sound good when I’m talking. Are these common complaints or common to the Sony’s. I have like 10-15 yo Sony’s (w/o mic) that don’t have the weird cabin pressure effect, I think that’s what it’s called). Thanks.
Which do you think is better boss? Cq45 or sony xm4 or xm5
Do the q45's stay still on the head or are they loose fitting and flop about❓
Just bought these on sale in New Zealand for the equivalent of £184 seems like I got a good deal! Looking forward to trying these out after your fantastic review thanks :)

Quiet comfort ultras released in the past week. Would love to get your review on that and a comparison!
Stay tuned 😉
Does it work in cold weather outside well?
I love these headphones !
I had QC35IIs for a couple years and I loved them but they were stolen recently. I been stuck between another pair of QC35II, QC45, and Sony XM4(I'm in the used market). Why I pause with another set of bose is I have big ears and and wearing the QC35II for hours would to start to hurt the top of my ears.
I love my Bose QC45 and the case. Almost two years since I have bought them and like you I can't stop using them.
Hope they’ve sorted their ear pads. I had the previous generation of these headphones and the pads would quickly deteriorate - the pad cover material would start flaking off. So annoying - having bits of black pad material all over your ears and clothes. Check online and you’ll find numerous complaints about this. Wouldn’t buy again unless they’ve sorted that. Such a basic thing.
does anyone know how much noise cancelling bose headphones actually have? I'm sure there's a number associated:for example 35 active noise cancelling for whatever model
Do you still have these headphones? I was thinking about getting them.
Great review. My better half bought me a pair at Christmas. Very quickly replaced my Beats Studio. Sound is good comfort is way better than Beats. Now have my perfect headphone hearing setup……QC45’s and AirPod Pro’s every occasion covered.
Nice!
Same two I have. Covers everything.
Same here 👍
I can get these for 299 ( Canadian ) 218 ( US )...thats for sure a great deal right ?...should i be picking up a pair ? great review by the way....cheers from Canada
Can you run with these? Do they fall off easily?
I want some good headphones with good sound cancelling, good sound with good base and to be comfortable. Are the bose better or sony headphones?
