TRIP REPORT / With the A340 across the Atlantic! / New York JFK to Frankfurt / Lufthansa A340

- Very good evening from sunny New York John F. Kennedy Airport! Tonight we fly with Lufthansa onboard their old A340 back to Germany! Exactly back to Frankfurt am Main Airport. We expect an 7 hours flight with a stunning sunrise over the atlantic.
But from the beginning: We arrived with the Metro from Manhattan. The ride needs around 1 and a half hours. Then we switched to the New York JFK Air Train which brings us from ther Howard Beach Station to the Airport. Lufthansa operates all flights from Terminal 1- honestly not the newest Terminal at JFK. However the check-in as well as the security check were really fast. So let's head to the Lufthansa Business Class lounge, where I can enter with my Priority Pass. We have 'Oktoberfest' time and therefor there is many Bavarian food. After that, I went to my Gate which is B7 today. Our A340 already arrived from Frankfurt. Time for boarding!
As always, a pillow as well as a planket is waiting for me on my seat.
Pushback with 20 minutes delay and lots of traffic on the apron.
Time for departure!
40 minutes after departure we got our dinner!

I Havent Experience A340-300.But Expiriencen A340-600 Whit Lufthansa And Iberia,A340-600 Is One Of My Favorite Aircraft.Great Trip Reeport

I was on this flight in February but it was very empty as there had been a strike the previous day

Absolutely! Well I went to the US one time... With the A380 to JFK and with the A343 back to Germany. My next flight after LH405 was back to my home town, Nuremberg. ✈️
@@OnboardTv That is so cool! I like Lufthansa's A343. It was refurbished and modernized. I travelled in the summer July 2023, so I was able to see a beautiful sunrise earlier over the Atlantic

I saldy don't have any information about those flights yet. But I'm really sure that they will do these flights again next year. I know that Austrain flies with their B777 from Vienna to Berlin in Janurary and February next year. @@B753Fan

Hello, thanks for the trip report! Just a quick question: why would you book economy with miles, isn’t business a better redemption? As economy tickets ton new York are usually pretty cheap. Just curious :)
Thank you! I booked the flight 6 months ahead. I normally use miles for business-class flights (LH B744 to Palma) because it's more worth it. But LH offered a special price with reduced costs (30 000 miles and around 100€). Normally, these flights to the US cost 30 000 miles and 500€ or more. The business class wasn't worth it because the tax was even more than 600€.

Traffic congestion on runway is really an ordeal because we have to wait at Runway of Netaji Subhash Basu Airport Calcutta for 15 minutes while flying to Silchar last month 😮🙏
