I am 67 and can't remember a time when I wasn't anxiously awaiting that turning point in late Winter when I knew Spring, sunshine, and warmth was just around the corner. I'm so excited for this video because this is what I have struggles with every single time I water prop ( edit: I'm glad I'm not the only one who uses chopsticks hahaha maybe I should stop though cuz I don't want mine to mold 😂)
hahah I haven't had any trouble with using chopsticks before! I think outside of the cabinet it's fine ☺️
I’ve noticed that when I pot up propagations I definitely have to keep an eye on them more the first couple days because the roots are use to water so in soil they seem to soak up the water faster at those first few waterings, depending on how long the roots are tho☺️
Very glad to see the trailing jade is getting a second shot at life!! It was so sad when she had to get chopped 😢🙈

I love my splendid! She has been a super easy grower. She did get spider mites once, but she has never had a stuck leaf when unfurling like some of my other philodendrons.
First of all , precious little baby watching you in the back while putting the post into the pot that was aborbale. And also super smart idea to put the soil in there first I wouldn’t have thought of doing that ! :):):) Xoxox

I find that using a large spoon that I got from Dollar Tree back in the day help me to add soil to my pots and hard to reach areas.

Try filling your pole with the potting mix and then cover with a coffee filter then insert into pot. This will also help the soil not fall out of the drainage hole, but still letting the water pass.
Maybe lightly wetting the potting mix before putting it in the pole could help??

I have a bunch of splendids. They are awesome. Eventually if you take top cuttings, a lot of times the plant will put out multiple growth points that will actually keep growing. Really fun plants!
Repotting and chore videos are great...nice and relaxing.
I want to try keeping a string of anything again. They look great.......but in my experience I murder them, swiftly and brutally 😆.

I bought my string of needles a year ago as a 2 strand plant....it's a small bush now lol once established it takes off, you'll be cutting it constantly and will have a big full pot in no time. They kind of like to crawl back up itself so you will have to sort it out from time to time 🙂 Loved this video...pot/repot w me videos are one of my favorites. I hope your plants thrive. Thanks for sharing.
What I’d you used like a piece of paper to wrap around the bottom of the moss poll to fill and flip, and then once you have flipped it then take it off! 😘 I loved this idea though!
maybe a decorative pot with a scalloped type rim could help keep the bundles of s.o. hearts more organized

Fern, I think your task of filling the bottom of the moss pole with your soil mix would be easier if you used a scoop with a narrower body. It would keep it more concentrated. Might save on vacuuming! LOL

I have a regular and mini Verrucosum red back plus I just ordered "Philodendron verrucosum Amazon Sunset" which is gorgeous. I just put my verrucosum on a moss pole also. It just keeps putting out new leaves.

love your videos fern, they always brighten my day and inspire me to channel my energy into something productive and fulfilling. i'm curious if you've ever had trouble with your roots transitioning from water to soil, or if that hasn't been a problem since your potting mix is so chunky? i've seen videos suggesting transitioning from water to sphagnum moss to prevent root suffocation - have you tried that? i have several string of bananas cuttings propagating right now, that i'm so nervous about killing once i put them in soil! thanks and hope you have a great day :)
I actually haven't really had any problems transitioning from water to soil. And I don't really wait until the roots are thaaat long either. Maybe I'm just lucky! Thanks so much for watching 💚

Maybe u could fill the bottom of the pole with just bark? Or just chunky amendments, and not the actual soil? 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe that would be easier to keep in the pole.
My favorite string of is turtles but I dont have one yet. It's on my list.

You could have potted the jade into the terra cotta and then just stuck it in a macrame hanger! I love terra cotta for my jades because it protects them from rot! But I’m sure your pot will work just fine with the chunky mix. Makes me nervous though whenever I have succulents in plastic, I just feel like I have to be so careful.
I have 3 different soh, string of tears and pearls...now I need string of turtles and spades!

Great video! All your cuttings grew really nice roots. Any thoughts on how to get larger hearts growing? My string of hearts leaves are small 😢. When I try to propagate, the stem usually fits in the water.
Maybe get some succulent potting medium for your jade?
How long were the soh propagating? Awesome! I got my orange mountain soh in! They are dark green and thick leaf like the variegated. Awesome job, I learn so much from you and look forward to new videos!
Next time you want to fill the bottom of the pole with potting medium just wrap the pole to a paper first and remove it when finished :)

How many weeks did it take for your SOH to root ? I feel like mine take forever !
Just wondering how you get your potting mix so dry? When I wet my coco coir and let it absorb it stayed so wet and I really struggled to get it to dry out. Do you have a time where you leave the lid open to let it air? I’m always a bit dubious about doing this as I don’t want any fungus gnats finding their way in…🧐 maybe I’m just adding too much water or the container I’m using is too small… any tips welcome 😄
