I keep a pen clip with I dry erase sharpie on my prop boxes so every time I add something I can just scribble it really quickly on the lid. When I remove that plant I just wipe it off 😊
Oooh you should just continue to pot wet sticks and props into small pots but filled with perlite instead of having a big box of perlite. That way you can label the pots and know exactly what you have!
I do the same! I throw wet sticks and cuttings in a moss prop box and when they grow, I transfer them into their own little pots and then into another empty prop box with a lid for humidity. Just to get the babies growing and stronger
My experience with Scindapsus (and I grow a lot of them) is that they don't like soil. I get the best results growing them in pon in self-watering system. So if you're having a problem with a Scindapsus and wanted to try something else with them I highly recommend pon.
.. Ohh, thank you so vety much for sharing that🤗 that I need to try it out starting tomorrow.. I've got a few of my Calatheas and Syngoniums in pon, their own pots though, but they are so much happier and having no more struggles..
I can't even tell you how much I (and i think a lot of people from your community) enjoy you just throwing that chatty-planty-things content at us and how much joy it brings
This was a very satisfying video! I have several of those clear tubs that I use as mini greenhouses for cuttings, props, baby plants, etc. I have pests in my house right now so they are super useful in that I can at least keep these babies safe from them!
yeah I think every plant owner goes through that. you get in this frenzy of propagating everything then realize, just love and take care of what you already have. propagate in moderation is my motto now...just got to get over the excitement of buying new plants and unboxing (everyone has their weakness I guess lol)
I loved this video, it was like new plant unboxing energy! I’ve been using my prop box to root cuttings directly in soil after starting tiny water roots (or not) and the higher humidity really helps my success rate. 💚
Fyi, I just picked up a 5 inch hanging planter of string of pearls. The top of pot is fully covered with pearls and many flowers, which smell nice. I googled watering it and saw that if the top is fully covered by the plant to bottom water it. They don't like water standing on top. I have a string of turtles that I am surprised it hasn't rotted yet as it's pretty full on top so will start bottom watering from now on. Btw you did a fine job on cleaning up and organizing the prop box.
Wow! That prop box looks so different now. Always intrigued to see how the different ways propagations are done as I’m yet to give it a go. Looking forward to some warmer weather so I can try some. Thanks for sharing 💚
I love your chatty prop box and repot videos. I adore the community aspect of this, well, community 🥰 Your collection is amazing! Omg not a thrip 😭 they are the worst. Fingers crossed for your McDowell 🤞🏽
About the thrips. I found them on a plant recently. First time with thrips. I treated it a couple times and it came back so I was ready to sacrifice it for the greater good. I put it on my front porch when it was below freezing left it over night then felt bad about it the next night brought it back in and haven't seen any thrips for just over a week. We shall see if that was the trick lol. The plant didn't suffer any damage at all from the cold.
Thrips takes more than 2 applications. The eggs are inside the leaves so any topical treatment needs to be applied every 3-4 days until all the eggs are hatched and make sure none have enough time to reach reproductive age.
I tried a perlite prop box but nothing did well. And the algae is gross. So now I just put cuttings in water if I can or plastic cups with spagnum moss and place in a ziploc. This works better for me and I can tuck the cups between other plants under grow lights and on top of a heat mat. I’ll experiment with perlite in individual cups next.
For thrips you should try koppert! They ship canada wide, and that is what got me rid of my year long on and off thrips infestation in only a month! It's quite expensive (100$ per treatment), but you usually only need one or 2 treatments if you want to be extra sure! And you just need to add them to your plants and wait! No spraying every week. Ps, I love your channel. You're my favorite plant youtuber❤️🪴
Plus maybe it will cheer you up, i had thripse this year in a motherplant i brought into my collection, noticed and treated early and they were gone for good after one treatment
I saw you got a pot of String of Turtles in a recent video. My pot I got like a month ago looked exactly like yours. And the strings just kept falling off. I believe they soaked it thoroughly the morning I bought it from my local nursery. Then I got it home and had it in a south/east window. It looked beautiful for a full week until I noticed some sad looking strings. I felt the soil and it was still soaked. Tried drying it out. (I think they all just rotted. It was complete carnage 😭 So I have little turtles propping everywhere! The ones doing the best are in a glass terrarium. Roots are coming out everywhere. The ones in my prop box don’t look like they are doing anything and the ones in test tubes of water turned to mush. Keep documenting your journey with your turtles. I would absolutely love to see what you find out works best. I’ve watched every video on CZcams and there aren’t any that have helped me understand what works best.
I hope you have better luck than I did when I tried to put freshly planted props back into the prop box. I think the soil stayed wet too long because of all the humidity, and they eventually started to rot :(
As the words came out of your mouth the other day it like went in the low toned slowmo sound “as long as I don’t get thrips.” I was like noooo knock on wood fern! 😅 Seriously tho I’m worried! I don’t want you to have to deal with all these bugs and I don’t want you to lose a bunch of plants 😔 I really hope this isn’t leading up to a tragedy. 😢 I swear I think I seen an adult thrip on my new plant yesterday. And I’ve never dealt with them so I’m worried! Will safers end all work!?
I was wondering how your el chocos we’re doing! This video made me think of when you potted up the baby ones and I’m curious as to whether it’s starting to get back to its former glory!
My perlite box was doing well in the summer but with the autum/winter everythings has rooted. Do you think is because is was too cold? Do you think it would be doing well again if I add a heat mat? 🌿
It's so funny to me because thrips are the easiest pest for me, since there's a pesticide in Europe that kills them literally in one application - it's called Strike (by Agrolit), and if you're able to get it to Canada, I seriously advise you to try it, that stuff is magic! Spider mites on the other hand 😭😭😭 still haven't found the magic poison for those bastards
.. First I give the plant (turn it upside down so the soil won't get soaked and use lukewarm water so the plant won't die of shock) a good shower to wash off as much as possible of the spidermites.. .. I use neem oil, lavender soap, peppermint oil and boiled filtered water.. Spray down the plant, underneath the foliage too, remove the spidermites that might still sit there and with a microfiber cloth you clean every leaf and every stem.. Then give the top soil a good spray, and let the poor plant rest, in a place away from the other plants..
it makes me soooo happy when ur vids are 30 mins exactly bc i can relax and enjoy them on my lunch break
I keep a pen clip with I dry erase sharpie on my prop boxes so every time I add something I can just scribble it really quickly on the lid. When I remove that plant I just wipe it off 😊
Genius 👏
Ugh I cannot get over how AMAZING you’re plant collection is I’m so jealousss
Awe thank you so much 🥺🌿 I'm very grateful for all of them!
Oh my gosh, those baby Dubias crawling up the sides are SO cute !!
Rightttt! Little babies

Ugh. I feel you. I’ve been treating for spider mites and I found a thrip on one of my philodendrons. This winter struggle is real.
I am TOTALLY with you on the thrips things. They’re such a pain🤦♀️

Thank you for sharing your prop box progress with us Fern 💚 it's cool to see what works and what doesn't I need to set one up.
Thank you for posting this morning! Love spending the weekend mornings drinking my coffee and watching your posts💚💚🎄🎄.
I put similar care plants together in pots as a flowerbed. Looks cool and easy to care
I loved this video, it was like new plant unboxing energy! I’ve been using my prop box to root cuttings directly in soil after starting tiny water roots (or not) and the higher humidity really helps my success rate. 💚
Loved it. It's so satisfying to see roots when we are propagating. I like the look of how it looks at the end. Your plant babies are adorable ❤️

Heyyy😍😍😍 i love your videos!! I get happy when I see the notification 😌 of a new video!😍😍❤️❤️
Thank you so much Jenny 🫶
I'm seeing 👀 the video again and doing my propagation box too 🥰!
Patiently waiting for you and Kevin to collaborate 😭
Yesssss Agreed
OMG same 😭
Yesssss 🫶
That would be really cool.
Aaaah same!
Just went through my grow shelf because of this and tossed a few, combined a few!! Thank you for the vibes ferni🎉❤
Might do this with my moss prop boxes too! Potting them up and keeping them in pots in the box. Good idea!
I'm having great luck with it so far!
that kiwi container would also be a good small trough style planter if u poked holes in the bottom
oh never mind it has holes! perfect :o
I love your chatty prop box and repot videos. I adore the community aspect of this, well, community 🥰 Your collection is amazing!
Omg not a thrip 😭 they are the worst. Fingers crossed for your McDowell 🤞🏽
🎶🎤little baby🎶
We need more impromptu songs. Love it. Reminds me of myself. 🥰
It’s always a surprise, isn’t it!
Love your videos

Hi Fern nice to see you again your looking good with those little baby's have a great day ❤
Check the color of the petioles on the majestic - one looks green and the other two look reddish. You may have two different plants! Love the video 🤍

I just finished catching up on your videos and then you posted again!! I am even drinking coffee out of my wildfern mug 🥰
omg how perfect 🥺🥺🥺💓
aw fern you always look so gorgeous but I feel like you've had an extra radiant glow about you in your last couple videos
Thank you 🥺💜

Personally I have found that string of turtles roots better in sphagnum! I have had great success with that method.
Same!
Plus maybe it will cheer you up, i had thripse this year in a motherplant i brought into my collection, noticed and treated early and they were gone for good after one treatment
The prop box's videos are my favs 🙌💕
Thank you for watching ☺️🫶
can you show us your process of boiling and reusing potting media?
wish i lived close! i’d take the dubia!😅😅
Oooo, two camera angles! So good!! 😍
Ahh thanks for appreciating it! ☺️
I just put a single string of peperomia postrata in a shot glass in a window 2 weeks ago and it rooted right up within a week.
That second majestic looks like mamei. 1 first and 3rd are majestic.

Whoa…. That was a freaking book I wrote!! 🤦🏼♀️
.. Oh shoo, you heart was full so no worries ☺️ I'm sorry about your poor little turtle, but surely I hope you can save the rest of your propagation..
Me trying to find dubia locally and no luck 😅 your big cuttings are so stunning!!!!!
Thank youuuu! And awe, I hope you find one soon! They were in big box stores here 👀
The quick sniff of the Gloriosum at 14:07 is killing me 😂
Also the possible Russian accent on “a little bit difficult” at 25:42. Not sure that was intentional but I still laughed 💀
Thanks for pointing these out 🤣
😂😂
I didn't even know I could do that accent until that very moment
Loved this video!!
Glad you liked it!!
This one was soo soothing! Loved it
thank you for watching :)
How clean and neat. Looks great.
I just purchased a majestic and she’s so pretty! 🤩
I hope you have better luck than I did when I tried to put freshly planted props back into the prop box. I think the soil stayed wet too long because of all the humidity, and they eventually started to rot :(
I think your Scindapsus is Silver Cloud Fern! Silver Hero looks a bit different. It’s beautiful 😍
My Scindapsus love pon and lots of water if it doesn’t work out in soil 🤍
All very cute cuttings👍
💚☘️🌵🌱
Thanks so much 😊

😩😩 thank you!! I'm not sure honestly, I've only ever used Doktor Doom on them (and that stuff works!)
Fern: "Philodendron Majestic are just sooo..."
me: "MAJESTIC?!?"
Fern "... Beautiful!!"
EVERY TIME! 🤣
You can send me ALL the Philo Dubia’s!!! 😩😭 I want one so bad!
Your sweatshirt looks so nice! It’s cold enough in SoCal rn so I’ll be wearing mine 😊
Ahh that is awesome! Thank you so much 🥰
Awesome beauty!
SUGGESTION! i know it is an old video but what about a give away for followers for cuttings you do not want but are still healthy?
You can sell on Facebook marketplace cause I’d def buy the ones you’re throwing away 😅
Your prop boxes are always so awesome!! Where did you get those planting mats?
They're from shopleaflet.square.site
Hey love! I'm pretty sure the second "majestic" you pulled out is a Mamei.... 🧐
I think youre right 👀
I was wondering how your el chocos we’re doing! This video made me think of when you potted up the baby ones and I’m curious as to whether it’s starting to get back to its former glory!
My next video is actually on my El Choco(s) 😊😊
I love your videos and new matatd. So organised. 💚💙
Sulfur treatment Link or video idea!!
What type of medium do u use for your anthem and philadandron. D like at did it one so much neater glad your making more videos god job
Do you have to water the props that are in soil in a prop box ?
Does boiling the perlite remove the green color from the algae, or is the perlite stained green?
❤️
Hi Fern….have you ever considered using Leca?….great channel!
I have used it before, but haven't had good luck :( Not sure why, but my plants always rot.
❤❤❤
What size or what is the link to the tiny clear pots you used?
The beginning really look like a mini jungle 😭
My perlite box was doing well in the summer but with the autum/winter everythings has rooted. Do you think is because is was too cold? Do you think it would be doing well again if I add a heat mat? 🌿
Yes either temperature or light. If it's under grow lights, then definitely temperature. Mine does poorly in the winter too.
Are you going to try Stratum?
I'm thinking about it! Especially for my alocasia corms.
💚💚
That sweater is adorable Fern, where’s it from?❤
Thank you! It’s my merch, linked in the description 🔮🌿🫶

I would love to buy now a monster Dubai from you
So different seeing you without your rings 🙃
Right hahah when I was editing I was noticing this too
I'd love to know if sulfur really does kill thrips 🤔
same lol 👀 I guess I’m testing it out
I have lots of bby dubia and i also toss them
They grow like weeds! I can't keep up lol!
This is silly but it made me happy seeing someone crack their knuckles. I get so much shit for doing it 😂
Ugh I just need to sometimes lol
don't throw them away, sell/trade them.
💚🌴💚🦋
Maybe you can give the Dubia away
How long do you have to boil perlite or spaghnum? Tia
20 minutes :)
@@wildfern thank you!
Maybe put a cup of water in there
IF They Keep GR💚WING And L🟢🟢KING As G💚💚D As THEY Do N💚W... Then ITS ALL G💚💚D!!!
Could you just fedex that whole prop box to me. I’m not that far away in Washington. That’d be just peachy. Thanks in advance 😂😅
