Back in the day I operated a 930 Cat loader feeding a band mill , moving lumber around and loading and unloading trucks. Loved that job.

The sawmill brings childhood memories. back in the 70's my dad would take his old 55 chevrolet dumptruck to a nearby sawmill when they were sawing hardwood. Instead of burning the slabs they would load them on the back of the truck. It would take all day but they would fill up the truck and he would go back and get it late that afternoon. We kept warm a lot of winters by cutting the slabs into firewood length and burning in the wood heater. Glad to see that someone is still sawing the old fashioned way.

Boy , I’d like to have about 4 bundles of that slab wood . I’d be build in a nice hunting hut in the woods out back . I have one that I built when we had a sawmill in town , but it burnt down few years ago and they said not going to put it back together. Built nice 8x8 x7
Hut , small 40 gal barrel wood stove , 2 bunks on wall that fold up or drop down on chains , 4 windows to shoot out of , door , and a home made pee bottle with pipe that goes in ground. And a camping toilet. Great to see working the mill , love the grain in some of that wood . Nice for building things with like tables, chairs , lawn swings , picnic table, much more. Well all of you stay safe and stay country….

Nice to watch somebody actually having to know how to cut a long to square it up instead of a computer looking at it and deciding how it will but cut that's pretty much a lost art anymore

Good looking crossties. Like that sawmill setup. Y’all still got some nice color left on the leaves on the trees there. We in upper East Tn and our leaves are about all gone. Can’t get over how much Conner is growing! Dad is looking good. Hope mom, Chloe and Ike are doing ok. Good video ❤

I thought that when a tree is cur down you first have to rid of its juices, there for they lay a certain time in water, then they have to dry before cutting en using the wood. Other wise it starts to grow again.

Trees are growing back faster than they are being cut. But people don't realize it. If timber isn't harvested and managed the way the good Lord meant for it to be, the good Lord will manage it for you. Either by fire, tornados, or just whatever he chooses.
