- "It takes a strong personality to make an impact with the trumpet," he told The New York Times in 1983. "You're like a matador in a bull ring. I see flutists and oboists go on the stage gingerly. If you do that with the trumpet you're finished. You have to go on as a winner."
- Hudba
After take a brain tumor I loose, capacity, of see, during two weeks...this was the first think I hear without see...I remember and still have tears everytime I hear....this was in 2008. Thank you Maurice ! 🌈❤️

I wish you a speedy recovery!
I thank God who gave to the mankind Telemann , Bach etc. and the sweet, strong, patient Maurice André. I regret his loss!
I am still for 54 years a big fan from Maurice Andre. One of the greatest musician in the world. His performances are overwhelming beautiful. RIP dear Maurice.
i have listened to this a hundred times and it transforms me every time. Unbelievable play. How he sings with his trumpet. MA is still the greatest. What an inspiration!
I will never forget the first time I heard this. I was driving in my car home from work back in 1999 listening to WCLV in Cleveland. This came on during rush hour. It was like the entire world stopped and all of my attention went straight to this music. I went on to purchase a CD and played it for my wife. She loved it. From that moment on it will always bring her to mind. I haven't played it for her in awhile. I think I will tonight over dinner.
So awesome Frank! I play the Piccolo Trumpet albiet not as well as the Master above but I am getting a little better. I just need a better quality trumpet. Soon I hope :-)
What a great story!!❤️
The picc is a dog in the wrong hands, Maurice is just off the scale......SUCH BEAUTY.
I did the same. 20 years earlier. See my play list. czcams.com/play/PLWC_UUHVuH01K2S-oYajbIycR_gScvQWz.html and the same happened in front of my dorm when I heard Michala Petri in 1981 czcams.com/video/bZCpdY6qIzA/video.html&start_radio=1
Frank Sulka, you sound like one very special bloke - your wife is a lucky woman x
Thank God and man for modern recording techniques so that one's music never dies. Music is more than an international language; It unites. Andre will always be one of the best trumpeters of all time. Hard to top his achievements. Last but not least. Thanks to CZcams for bringing such an array of musicality together under one site and at no charge.
I was an orchestral trumpet player back in the late 70s and early 80s and still have many friends from that world. A little less than 10 years ago, one of those friends posted a social media update that said only "Gabriel just slid over to second chair". We all knew. So many hours listening to this man.
Thank you Maurice André for this piece of heaven on earth... RIP
What a man he should have been .... really a gift for the human being. Cheers from Italy!
Don't thank Maurice André; it was composed by Telemann.
Such a beautiful music and performance…
I saw Mr. Andre at Alice Tully in the 80's, he was a music genius in disguise of a great big lovable bear. His playing was heavenly and so spirited!
RIP the best ever
🙌
This sound !!!! my god !!!! simply cosmic. I am so envious or perhaps jealous. I don't know. Well done Maurice. What a grace. Unmatched to date.
When I listen Maurice Andre in this Telemann's concert, I still think that trumpet is a different instrument than one we every day believe to play. Already the first note D - by oneself - has the power to zeroize everything, and to stand out like absolute artistic truth.
Sublime. 2.04-2.31 kills me every time.
Music is written coming from the heart, played with a music loving heart, and listened with our ears and music loving heart. Merci Maurice André.
Maurice played this better than anyone in history , or in future history.
Telemann is so underrated. Especially if you factor in his influence to other composers
You're definetively right, but this piece of diamonds will help You to see the world in another colour!
Steven A. He is my FAVE.
Bach, Handel
@@varbalvarbal Buxtehude, too! And what about Vivaldi?
Don't forget Salieri. Although his music is no way near as great as his contemporaries', he taught some of the greatest composers.
I never want this piece to end but to go on and on soaring with those high notes. If this piece was the last music I heard I am sure it would transport me to mystical realms with a smile and a sigh of real pleasure.
Tut derSeeie gut danke Gott beschütze sie🙏
Such talent and beautiful music breaks my heart to listen yet I can’t turn away,
My favority music!!! God bless the trumpeters.
Thank God YT lets us hear this even though the master has passed.
I came across this by chance for the first time yesterday. What a wonderful piece of music. And I didn't realise that the trumpet could be played this way. Just superb.
My favorite trumpet piece and an excellent performance. Bravo!
I can't believe as someone interested in brass music that I had never had the pleasure of listening to Maurice André before today. Based on what I have seen others say who met the man, he truly conveyed his heart through his playing. Without a doubt one of the best players I've ever heard. A shame I was born too young to have had the opportunity to listen to him in person, but at least there is always his legacy.
Telemann, one if the BEST composers who wrote amazing pieces for trumpet players
IT was for oboes...
Talent is due to M André
The only one who could play this in piccolo trumpet ... flawless...
@@danielcarrau243 No this was written for trumpet, the baroque trumpet, no valves. Here is a recording with a modified baroque trumpet with vent-holes. Also note the tuning is lower, baroque tuning.

Best picc player! His tone is simply amazing!
Hallucinant!!!
RIP Maurice andré 🙏
Merci, Maurice, you keep Telemann alive with the muses. Magnifico!
Claudio: I believe you are a hundred percent al right. I could not agree more with you point.

Music is so primal...it reaches directly into the depths of existence
"Merci beaucoup, and may You rest in eternal peace" to the trumpeteer of trumpeteers.
Merci, maestro !
This is my favorite piece, by my favorite player. I saw him play it live once in SF...1980?? Awesome, every note.
Maurice André a man on his own...wonderful.
Lovely. Maurice Andre is a class act.
On my way to work that fateful day as usual was listening to 105.9 FM Radio in N.Y.C. (The only Classical station left) when I heard the breaking news of Maurice death hours early, indeed a day of mourning.
Gorgeous, used at our daughter's wedding....
May it have brought happiness to everybody!
Not for wedding parties
I had this played at my wedding in 1985.
Telemann, a giant!!!
One of the most beautiful melodies I've heard
merci maurice tu as bercé ma jeunesse par ton jeu exceptionnel
My father bought the LP around 1976. We enjoyed it so much. Takes me back to my teenage. Thanks for uploading.
Concerto in D for Trumpet, Strings & Continuo (TWV 51:D7), Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767)
0:00 1. Adagio
2:35 2. Allegro
4:42 3. Grave (no trumpet)
7:17 4. Allegro
thank you!
Excuse me, do you know when was written this concert?
Grave (no trumpet) - which is why he called it Grave ;-)
@@stellarartist You may be kidding. Because it has to do with speed and nothing to do with the instruments to be used. Grave is Italian and in music means something like slowly and seriously, solemnly.
@ It was a joke
Bravo Mr. Andre! You can always Telemann who's got talent
Telemann divino.Andre' bravissimo
what a music from the almost everytime underestimated composer. And played by the famous Maurice Andre. I'm almost like to do like my before poster did, drop down tears not only because of the Adagio but much more of the whole composition
A trumpeter for the church played this at my wedding 1985.
Was he also using a piccolo?
The best !!! Merci Maurice.
absolutely beautiful
Beautiful! Fantastic!!! Man, wow!! Telemann not little guy,. What can he make with the trumpet. And yes Maurice Andre does the job like a winner. Yes, he doeeees.
It is in my mind no doubt that maurice now plays among the angels in heaven . His music just makes you feel like that way . Just absolute beauty grace and musicality. Rip maurice . I will always look up to you as my greatest musical inspiration.
your heart just gets 'stirred up' by it....so sublime, so penetrating to our souls.....so warming to our spirits...
I just can't help it...I keep coming back to this indescribable music, so unique, heaven sent......*TO THE WORLD AT LARGE.....AWAKEN TO BEAUTIFUL MUSIC>>>>>NOW!.........jn
I could never toot my Cornet or Trumpet like this. Wow!
Music of the angels.
Quel talent !
Sublime !
welch wunderschöne musik
The Idol of my youth... After more than 40 years I cry when I listen to it ...
I
the ending is so beautiful and unrushed. Only one Maurice Andre.
So beautiful!
One of my favorite concertos!! Played perfectly 👌
The beginning simply touches the depths of my soul 😭. The entire piece is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
J’adore! Je suis emportée par ce souffle inégalable 🤩
This music brings to my memory so many fond moments of the time I spent in New York back from 1992 to 1993, great moments...
senza citarlo
I mediocri imitano, i geni copiano (Pablo Picasso)
I thrill to hear Andre play this favorite of mine!
I had this played for my wedding. Decades ago.
Sublime🌷
Beautiful high notes
Beautiful.
One of my favorites, and challenging to play too, but large amounts of fun.
A beautiful piece of music which transports me to an almost reached spiritual place. High above the earth in the mountains or on a cliff overlooking the sea.
