  • We take our new Ford Bronco Badlands, equipped with the Sasquatch package, and install the new height adjustable Bilstein 6100 series shock absorbers. The difference in ground clearance before versus after the install is definitely going to be useful off road!
    Hope you enjoy the installation, and stay tuned for a more in depth video on ride comfort & drivability coming soon (where we jump the Bronco...just a little bit...to make sure, in typical Lite Brite fashion, that the Bilstein shocks are performing exactly how we expect them to)!

    My father was a mechanical engineer. After I had been working as a dealership mechanic for a number of years, we used to have these discussions about why engineers did things the way they do. He told me that often the engineers have a perfectly good idea and then the accountants come along and screw it up to save a few pennies during the manufacturing process.

      No its accurate, Im a mechanical engineer and have had to change designs and materials for less effective solutions because of management plenty of times.
      Also, part of the engineering design philosophy includes simplicity of maintenance and longevity. Money, is usually the problem

    I do these all the time at work, you dont have to loosen the control arms, I take the tie rod off and the CV axle nut because it will pull the cv apart on these when it drops if not careful.

      Also if you put the sway bar in a bind by jacking one side up you can impact zip those nuts off the swaybar without the allen tool haha and it wont spin. Not trying to be Mr know it all just passing along tricks I use. Works on the tie rod and upper ball joint too just keep them in a bind

    Not only are these going to give the added clearance, they're going to give substantially more support offroad, what we like to call Bottomless Suspension during fast paced driving. We've got a review of the ride quality coming up compared to the HOSS and 5100s.

    I love it when he says in some videos "now to the part I hate the most (electrics & wiring) but what I am the best at.
    I seen one video where the pile of wiring loom amongst other piles or wires on top made it look like nothing would work on the jeep, but nope he saved many KG's of weight.

    Chris you are going to have the “Camber “ aliened . When you lift a IFS the further it pushes the top of the tire away from the frame or in other words adds positive camber .. i know this because i have a Lifted 2006 Jeep liberty ( also with the Bilstein lift 5100’s) and had to get it aliened because of the positive camber .. 06 liberty is the same as Bronco IFS Front and solid axel rear👍

    I know you guys are sponsored by Bilstien but I feel there are some way better shock options. Adding that much preload to the spring just makes the shock lose a lot of down travel stiffins it to where it doesn’t want to tuck the tire as well. I would look into ADS in Arizona. Tyler
    who owns ADS Spent a lot of time Dialing in the spring rate and maximizing shock length and Bump stop length to get the most out of it.

    • @LiteBrite
      @LiteBrite  Před 2 lety +5

      ADS definitely does great work we love those guys but bilstein has been around a Looooot longer and has some of the brightest and best engineers on their team. They designed the OEM suspension that feels fantastic already. This is a super cheap option for people who want to go that much faster. These are maybe $300 a corner and you get R&D behind an OEM manufacturer. I was thinking it was going to be stiffer and be geared more towards Offroad and lose some on road manners but that didn’t happen. It’s still great on road but now even more capable of higher speed and hitting harder stuff Offroad.
