What would I do with my days if there weren’t the politics behind French dubs to entertain me? You gotta love how needlessly complicated they make things, just because.
Yes, this song has two different titles: one for Canada and one for Europe. Then surely the two dubs use two different versions, you’ll suppose. Of course not! Why would they?
Not only did they use the same lyrics for this song (while they went for the lyrics from their respective 1989 dubs for the songs from the original movie), but they even kept the same dubber to sing the song (unlike “For the First Time” and “The Scuttlebutt”: same lyrics, different dubbers). The song is literally the same in both versions (except for Ariel’s vocalising? Maybe? We don’t even know for sure). And yet, they decided to use completely different titles. Because. Fuck.
The audio I used here comes from the Canadian dubbing. I would suppose Ariel’s vocalising is made by Ariel’s Canadian dubber, Audrey-Louise Beauséjour (it’s certainly her we hear at the end of the video), but I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that they mixed Cerise Calixte’s recording instead. Because why would they make things simple when they can overcomplicate them, right?
But you do get a pass this once because Martin 💕

What you comment on the description is on point, maybe I would think that the people that choose the titles for the songs in the credits aren't the same that do the decision of leaving the same lyrics for the new songs on both, France and Canada? I don't know. Anyway, it's clearly a communication problem. ^^'
The lyrics are quite good (I liked the phrase "I got back on shore, but my soul drowned"), but some other parts I think were maybe a little lazy or hurried.
My favourite singer for this song is between Spain's Spanish and Danish version. They're really good.

I never got the deal of them not dubbing the songs in Quebec french like they do with spanish and portuguese. At least this time they bothered to dub most of the songs in Quebec french, unlike in other movies, and it seems that Wish won't have the songs in Quebec french either
I’m from Quebec! We use to dub all of the disney with canadian french! Until Moana I believe. After Moana we started only dubbing the dialogue but not the songs. I sure do miss the Quebec translation of the songs tho :((

Ciao, avevo letto in qualche tuo video che il francese lo avevi studiato alle medie e poi lo avevi ripreso a masticare alle superiori da autodidatta. Mi ricordo bene? Se sì, come ti trovi a studiare da sola? È da una vita che vorrei buttarmi nel mondo delle lingue scandivave, moooolto più interessanti a mio parere di quelle neolatine - oltre al fatto che una minima comprensione passiva di queste l'ho già grazie all'italiano, ma non ho purtroppo occasione di prendere corsi, così avevo pensato da autodidatta. The song sounds good but damn, the mess I read in the description… Can't they just make two distinct dubs like back then? I'm not the biggest fan of Quebecois dubs but this whole mess kinda get on my nerves…
Same here, like, if it’s something where they only do one dub because of the location of the movie such as there being only one Spanish dub for Coco and Encanto, then I’d understand. But this has been going on since 2013, so basically for TEN YEARS, we have not had two distinct French dubs for Disney movies, and when we did, they would only dub the speaking parts
