Good question. They come oversized only slightly, talking about a few thousandths. This is to account for manufacturing tolerances, different thickness slide finishes, cerakoting of slides, and even wear on the slide from other sights going in/out previously
Now I know what sights not to buy. I have a Hk sight pusher I use for night sights and adjustable night sights. Ive never had to file any of them for install. Even my Sigs didn't need to be filled. Smh spend all that money to sit down and file them. Guess as long as you like them.
@@DA-pj3or I like the Dawson, I like others too (these Dawson’s are more of a competition style, which is why they are like this, kind of custom fitting). I don’t mind the file it’s not that bad. Some sights even when they have a tolerance closer than the Dawson require filing. But you made it without finding any, that’s true almost always with a few stragglers here and there depending on what brand/style
No I dont think so on HKs, but most people work on the side away from the ejection port. Meaning, push out away from ejection port, and push the new sight in towards the ejection port. Again I don't think it matters on HKs, but the habit may prevent damage for other sights that have a taper design.
Hey Shaun, maybe i have a strange request but would it be possibly to send this set to germany ? Dawson Precision doesn't ship to my country. i would pay the set + shipping + 50 $ for your help. Deal ? :)
I wish I could for you, but the problem is ITAR/EAR. Maybe eBay has them internationally. But I cannot send them outside USA, seems like a ridiculous rule for something like this… it seems most companies are using globaldefense.us for international shipping, but I have no idea. You’ll have to contact them to see if they can handle it

What’s the fixture you’re using?
Im not sure what you mean by fixture
Why do you have to file the sights at all.they should just fit if they were made for that model

that's what I was thinking as well; they're going to be tight when you push them in.

@@DA-pj3or agreed. Once you file it, you might overdo it. Then you got useless sights
Does it matter which way the front sight comes out?

Great video! Are you filing both sides of the sight if it’s too tight?
