  • How can one face pain and insanity every day, and not go crazy or become indifferent? Join the psychiatrist Dr. Oren Tene for a sneak peek to a day at his office: the closed ward. The lesson he shares might change the way you raise your kids.
Dr. Tene is a psychiatrist, Vice chair of the psychiatric division at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center. He is a brain researcher and a lecturer at the Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine. In his research work, he studies the complex interface between psychiatry and neurology, focusing on brain mechanisms that influence human behavior. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Boundaries are good for relationships because they help to create a sense of safety and respect. When people have boundaries, they are able to communicate their needs and wants in a clear and assertive way. This can help to prevent conflict and misunderstandings.
Here are some of the benefits of setting boundaries in relationships:
    * **Increased trust and respect:** When people respect each other's boundaries, it shows that they value the other person's needs and feelings. This can lead to increased trust and respect in the relationship.
    * **Reduced conflict:** Boundaries can help to prevent conflict by setting clear expectations for how people will interact with each other. This can help to avoid misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
    * **Improved communication:** Boundaries can help to improve communication by encouraging people to be honest about their needs and wants. This can lead to more open and honest communication in the relationship.
    * **Increased intimacy:** Boundaries can help to increase intimacy by creating a safe space for people to be themselves. This can lead to deeper levels of trust and connection in the relationship.
If you are looking to improve your relationships, setting boundaries is a great place to start. By communicating your needs and wants in a clear and assertive way, you can create a more respectful and supportive environment for everyone involved.
Here are some tips for setting boundaries in relationships:
    * **Be clear about what you want and need.** The first step to setting boundaries is to be clear about what you want and need from the other person. What are your expectations for the relationship? What are your deal breakers?
    * **Communicate your boundaries in a clear and assertive way.** Once you know what you want and need, it's important to communicate your boundaries to the other person in a clear and assertive way. This means being direct and honest, but also respectful and understanding.
    * **Be willing to compromise.** It's important to be willing to compromise when setting boundaries. Sometimes, you may not be able to get everything you want. In these cases, it's important to be willing to find a solution that works for both of you.
    * **Be patient.** Setting boundaries takes time and effort. Don't expect the other person to change overnight. Be patient and consistent with your communication, and eventually they will start to get the message.
Setting boundaries can be a challenge, but it's worth it. By setting boundaries, you can create a more respectful and supportive environment for yourself and your relationships.

boundaries are proactive vs reactive. You must be aware of needs and have enough worth to execute them. Loved the messages here.

I've just completed my first year of teaching and I'm constantly thinking if I'm overstepping certain boundaries with respect to the time I spend with the children.
I can't explain the timing of this.
    Thanks!
