    I had two of these, and these were one of the best motorcycles I’ve owned. I purchased the first one from my brother that bought it brand new in the 70s and then I bought one in the 90s because I missed it so much.

    I bought this bike brand new in 1972. Helped the shop mechanic put it together. I had the best summer ever. Loved that bike. Miss those days.

    I bought that exact bike new in 1972. Same color and everything.

    Brings back a lot of memories. I used to take them out of the crates back in ‘72, assemble them and put them on the showroom floor. Great videos. RT

    I owned one exactly like this while stationed in Okinawa…took it apart, had it packaged up, and mailed home. Put it together in my parent’s attic and had to “ride” it down the stairs that were carpeted. Luckily the bike and I made it safely! Started up on the first kick. Great machine. Thanks for the video!

    What a nice little bike, and it runs right after the third kick, wow! Two stroke engines tend to smoke quite badly, I think that's the best you can get. Nice sound also and another project done, thumbs up!

    Great job. My first bike was a Yamaha 125 enduro next bike was 360 enduro. Damn things were indestructible.

    I still remember when I got my 175 new. Gave you a handful of plugs because the oil pump was set rich for break in and then reset after 500 miles. Love the sound.

    Oh man. Thank you for this video. I commented on another video you did on this bike. I have had one of these since 1982. I bought it from my brother in law. He was the original owner. I used to ride it all over the place. It’s been sitting for about 30 years. Hearing that one run has inspired me to start the restoration process. This is going to be awesome. And my brother in law is going to be shocked.

    I had a 1970 CT1 175cc. I added a lot of speed mods and went motocrossing. Then the Honda Elsenor came along and it made these obsolete. Make sure to tighten the coupling for the carb slide well. I had one vibrate out on 175 Penton and bruised my knee.

    Hey Josh, FJ question... what month/year is your FJ and which rings did you use? I'm not asking about bore diameter, but there are two different ring thickness size sets. Do you have the part number and maker that you used?

    I have this same bike, mines green tho. I've been restoring mine for the past year or so and am almost done. I was wondering if your clutch lever is hard to pull? Mine needs a lot of pressure for it to go in and im trying to figure out if that's normal or if its something I need to fix. I got a new clutch cable but idk what could make it easier to pull. Great videos!!!

    Does this bike have a Mikuni carb, VM30SS?
    I just got a 1972 RT2 360 for restoration and the carb looks the same?
    Thanks

    With a project like this , can you confirm that the oil pump is working to insure that the motor doesn't seize ? Or would premix be safer ?

    • @Jerod_Helt
      @Jerod_Helt  Před 3 lety

      Yes you can check and adjust the oil pump. I’ve heard these pumps are extremely reliable and they’re a very simple design so not much can fail on them.

  • @onenewworldmonkey

    I just bought one without a carb and can't figure out which one it came with. Its either a mikuni vm-26 or vm-28. I looked up your links and it didn't say.

      @@Jerod_Helt Thanks for the reply, though.
      I finished a dt100 and now am working on this DT2. I could use an in depth look into some well preserved examples. The ideal look would be a video of removing the head light to show which wires go through which holes. It would unwrap the tool kit and show how it goes together. I could see the value of other original machines, like cars, or boats, or anything complicated where the owner were so lucky as to have something original while most people only find partial examples.

    Working on a 75 dt250 it runs but backfire and is low on power carb was very clean I'm thinking something to do with the stator?

    • @Jerod_Helt
      @Jerod_Helt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I’m not sure what symptoms the stator would cause, but if it were me I would clean the carb again. It can take a few tries to get them clean.
