Mr Alex Tech - Zábava
Put an ND filter on and didnt adjust the white balance so a little warmer than usual 😄 Unfortunately im not that tanned!
Also make sure to go subscribe to the cool crew that is:

www.youtube.com/@JasonYadlovski
I mean, we know you were just in Vegas. A tan is feasible. :D Thanks for the candid discussion. Almost feels like I was there.
And here I am, thinking NAB had UV lights for indoor peeps.
was fantastic to hang out with you and the gang!! Too much fun!! Nice round up!!! See you soon!
Pyxis is an old Latin / Greek word for a box that contains trinkets. A small box used by the ancient Greeks and Romans to hold medicines, etc.
Thank you; my company name is Greek and what a mistake THAT was (in the US )
Great Vid Alex! I like the chill vibe and having a chat. Great to see you and hang at NAB! I appreciate you man!
Thanks man!! Right back at you, it was great hanging out. I'm looking forward to the next one already!!
❤ love seeing the content. Great playing shuffleboard at resolve con with you & the rest of the guys.
You met ME!!! I was at the Black Magic booth with my wife and said how much I love your stuff! You are a great man. I meet Grant too right before you did. :-)
Hahha, that THUMBNAIL?!!!! I saw the back of my head!!!! Great hanging with you and the crew in Vegas! You're awesome, love the channel and hope to see you again soon!
Sherwin! Ma' man! Ha you did! I should have got a nice beauty shot of you in as well, next time. Great seeing you too dude, it's always fun. Hopefully catch up soon, if not I'll see you in Vegas next year! :)
Grant seems to be a really good CEO.
And his presentations on the blackmagic design youtube channel are always interesting.
Yeaaah he seems super chill! He was quite happy to mingle and chat with people. I love his presentation as they're not like any others, there's no BS it's just straight to the point.
@@MrAlexTech and he legitimately looks super happy when he's showing the new gear or stuff in Davinci Resolve.
Fantastic seeing you and Darin at the Blackmagic booth this year. I think the show was more vibrant than the past couple years but probably because I saw so many familiar faces.
Heyyy!! Thank you. Yeaah it definitely felt livelier than last year. Not busier really but just more energy.
@@MrAlexTech It was smaller but maybe that was a good thing. I think the Covid blues (and Hollywood strike) are finally over people just seemed happier. So many more Creators too. p.s. I'm not sure people here actually know what a fanny is but It's always good to have a little fanny with you when you travel !
For a colorist, Darren is right that it's great to do more than one thing simultaneously, but one of the best things is that when grading using a calibrated display with a clean feed - the control panel becomes like a musical instrument where each control becomes part of muscle memory, that the colorist can keep their eyes locked on the image. If you are using the GUI with a mouse and keyboard - you can't feel your way around the GUI, so you're forced to take your eyes off the image and look where the mouse is to move. Even going from Lift to Gain, and adjusting the wheels or hues - each change requires looking at the GUI.
I keep mentioning this because I am hoping some really smart code person will read it. I would love it if I could use the ipad ( in the slot there ) and have an App that reads the blue tooth and gives me feedback on the screen from the knobs and wheels - like more expensive panels do ( built in ) that way even a cheap ipad would make the cheap panel work and feel like the mini or advanced.
Anyway, one can hope.
Wish I could have made it to NAB. I thoroughly enjoyed Resolvecon and meeting all you guys in person.
An idiot's guide to the colour page would be amazing as I still don't get a) how to colour grade and b) how to apply it to footage / how that's supposed to be applied to an edit - do I grade first, split to scenes first and grade for scenes, do I find a grade and then copy/paste the settings to all footage from that shot etc. I should probably google it but I'm lazy and keep forgetting, and should probably just get stuck in before I actually have to shoot something that needs to be delivered this side of never. :D Great channel, learned so much here!
@MrAlexTech it was great getting to meet you this year at NAB. Looking forward to next year as well. Keep up the great content!
I recognise that face 😄 Thanks mate!! It was great meeting you again, and I'll certainly be seeing you again next year. Thanks for all your support as always, it doesn't go unnoticed!
I for one would love to see a video about a beginner's guide to the micro color panel. As someone who approaches the color tab with even more trepidation than Fairlight and Fusion I'd love to see something like that!
Just FYI, we find "bum bag" as funny as you do "fanny pack" Looks like a fun show, can't wait 19 to go live.
Super thanks for the super video :)
Awesome you get the recognition from even BMD staff.
Was lovely hanging out with you all while drinking margaritas and boozy milkshakes (even if it meant I couldn't get to sleep after thanks to all that sugar!) and I'll hopefully see you all again soon
Ah that milkshake... I'm going to have to go back next year just for another one of those 😄
It was great hanging out with you too dude. Say hey to Blue for me too, it was great seeing him.
Super good video, Man. Thank you. I watch your guides and tutorials and you have helped me a lot. SUPER thanks
Hey! I like those blokes!
Hello. Would you like a beer?
@@MrAlexTech @caseyfaris yes please!
So Fire meeting you guys🔥‼️‼️
Leon!! It was great meeting you too dude.
yeah, a video about the Micro Panel from your point of view would be interesting.
Looking forward to the micropanel tutorial - mine is on order😊
A pack for a fanny.
It never gets old.
Haha that's good to know!! 😄
@@MrAlexTech 😂
new micro panel looks amazing....going to sell like hot cakes
Super! Smashing! Great!
Pyxis means “little box” in Latin.
Cheers Mate, I see you I appreciate you.
informative and interesting, thanks
Thanks you too sar.
This video is super!
Thanks! I like this comment. It's super.
Super 😄
the colour panel looks pretty awesome for the price, tempted to get it and the speed editor
This is what I found for the word 'Pyxis':
Pyxis is a small and faint constellation in the southern sky. Abbreviated from Pyxis Nautica, its name is Latin for a mariner's compass. Pyxis was introduced by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille in the 18th century, and is counted among the 88 modern constellations. The plane of the Milky Way passes through Pyxis.
So the new camera is named after a constellation instead of a pocket. Brilliant!
Given their other cameras are Ursa, I think you have figured where they source camera names from. There is also a nice historic reference as Blackmagic purchased Fairlight who had previously purchased dSP who had a video server called Pyxis. So there is history in that name within the software team, some of who were once dSP, then Fairlight and now BM.
Went to NAB also and saw the color panel. Very interested in your evaluation after you get a chance to get "into" it.
Coolness 😎
Should have come over to Ross!! See you at IBC maybe.
Please do a color panel series! Love Darren but would also love to see someone coming at it from a noob perspective.
Yes to color panel usage video please.
Super.
Would love to see the video on the color panel.
Greetings from Nicaragua.... land of lakes and volcanoes, in the center of Central America
FANNY PACK
I'd like to find your view of the colour panel. As someone who has different colour vision in each eye (only one cataract replaced) I'm not sure I actually understand colour grading.
Can you make a video about the lenses you use and ones you recommend for the Lumix S5IIX, please? I'm thinking about upgrading to that camera and selling my Sony A7III but I'm not sure about which lenses to buy for the S5IIX...
FYI - Pyxis is Latin/Greek = little box 🙂
Another great video - love attending expo's. What camera do you use for filming your videos and what lens?
All the studio shots of me are lumix S5ii with sigma 28-70 but, I've used the 20-60 kit lens in the past as well. It's a cracking kit lens!
But all the NAB clips are Osmo Pocket 3!! First time I've really used the osmo and the quality is reallllly good. And the convenience is next level.
They said there’s a constellation called Pyxis so it stays in the same family as how they named the Ursa.
Ahhhhhh thank you! I missed that. Now it makes a little more sense 😄
Thank YOU Alex!
Did you hear anything about when 19 will be out of beta?
"Mahussive"... new word to use! cheers...
Very close to pulling the trigger on a S5xii!
I’m glad someone up-sold you up to Grant Petty. Well deserved🎉
I've been wearing a nut ruck (Fannypack/Bum Bag) since the 80s. IDC who likes them or not, they're very useful, especially when traveling.
Haha nut ruck is a fantastic name 😄 100% using that from now on. But yeah they are! I'd overlooked them honestly for many years but quite a fan of this one.
You're not an anime fan are you Alex? I doubt they got the name from it, but Commander Pyxis is the acting Commander and Chef of the Paradis Island military forces in Attack on Titan.
4:05 HAHAHAHAHAHAH
We got excited! 😄
Alex, i'm fairly new with Davinci Resolve and started learning with ver 18. I don't love beta versions of software. When do you think a DR ver 19 free stable edition might be available? is there a certain time they usually take before beta goes to stable or what? Thanx
Hello, I have a Davinci Resolve question. Do you know if BM has planes to (or if they already have one) create a tool like the "Remix Tool" in Premiere Pro? This is a tool to remix a music audio track to make it the exact length of your video clips, automatically. All you do is drag the end of the audio clip to the length you want it and it does all the work to extend or shorten the clip. It cuts up and matches the beat and temp perfectly. It voodoo AI of some magical kind. Its awesome! Unfortunately, it is the one and only thing that keeps me going back to Premiere. I will go in and render my edit out of Davinci and add music in Premiere then render just audio at the correct length then bring it back to Davinvci. Its a pain, especially if I make changes to the edit and have to do the process multiple times. Honestly this is the only reason I still have an adobe account.
i prefer the old micro panel :D
Funny video:) Even if you're talking about socks, I don't care, it's just funny:)
17K camera is a good joke too, I've been in the business for 20 years but I don't know what it's for. A quick hard drive filler?:)
Trying to decide on a camera for youtube education videos. The candidates are Canon R8 (budget), Sony A7s iv (low light when it comes out, but expensive), or the Lumix S5IIX (unsure about good video AF as I require it, and concernd about glass). Would you still choose the lumix or would you choose one of the other options, and why?
All my talking head shots are filmed with the S5ii. The AF is solid, especially for talking head educational stuff etc.
A7s seems like overkill unless you specifically need really good low light performance. A7iv would likely make more sense. Or even A7cii (good for travel too). Sony has best lens options, especially thanks to Tamron!
Personally, I'd still pick Lumix because it's the most flexible. The reason I like lumix is because it can do photos, it can do vloggy vids, but it can do serious filmmaker vids too as it has loads of options. Anamorphic, shutter angle, 24fps, Blackmagic raw, 6k, 3:2 etc etc etc. But if I didn't want that additional flexibility and just wanted a cam for a CZcams studio setup, I'd go Sony probably.
I've no experience of Canon unfortunately. Well not for a long time anyway, 6D was my last 😄
@@MrAlexTech I appreciate your input. Will do some more research.
BTW love your videos. Keep up the great work.
@@MrAlexTech What lenses would you recommend for the lumix for talking head in a small space. Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 or would you suggest another one?
Any word on when Magic Animate will be updated for the new version of DaVinci Resolve? If not, I’ll probably just stick with 18, I guess. Thanks for all you do, and like I said before… we watch you because of your personality, you seem like a real solid dude!!
It's actually not a MagicAnimate issue technically. Resolve update broke something weird that shouldn't have broken. Hopefully they fix it otherwise MA will basically need a complete UI redesign. Ekk!
@@MrAlexTech oh, ok thanks
Sir. Are you saying it’s possible to *both* do CZcams AND have friends?!? Lovely little report, gonna have to try get me some cheap airfare and find a cardboard box to stay in over there next year, maybe find a boat from Norway … definitely going if I manage to monitize before NAB next year …
You can, just about but it's a balancing act 🤣 Ah yes, that'd be great. Fingers crossed for you!!!
@@MrAlexTech thanks :) Or maybe IBC, Holland is *so* much closer and a bit more chill - got my work cut out for me the next 6 months then, on top of «work», and *work* … time will show :)
I want so say hi to you, too. =/ When will you be in germany? : P
👀👀
🤟🙏🏻
Is the micro panel similar in size to the speed editor?
Wider, but thinner.
I love the new Blackmagic - DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel and the price drop, BUT do you know if a davinci resolve 19 studio licence is still included? Couldn`t find infos about this... thx. Greets from germany :)
Oh I asked that exact question and no it isn't!! No resolve studio licence is due to be included with the micro panel. This could change!! But that's what I was told at the stand.
@@MrAlexTech Ah okay, thanks for the info. I feared that. haha ;)
Think the android app will work with different cameras? or just BM cams?
If it is like the iPhone app it only works with the cameras on the phone. I'd love an app to monitor BMPCCs with a phone but so far I haven't seen one.
Pocket camera seems just as good.
Cinema 6k is the same camera basically, just in a different body. Many, maaaany, focal people asked for it in a box format so here it is!
Had to look up why you thought fanny was ... cheeky. Ah.. got it. "two nations divided by a common language"
Yeaaah it's a comical term here in the UK.
What model mic is that? Lewitt?
It's the Elgato Wave!
@@MrAlexTech Ah, thanks. Enjoy your stuff!
I'm going to start saying "mahusive" every day now.
MAAAAHUSIVE! 😄
#Alex4BlackMagicCommunityManager ;-)
I wonder if who recorded the people will need to call some Aliens from another galaxy using their alien tech to be able to encode and export a 17K footage about 40 minutes in length....😂😂
Happy that camera app is landing on android, UNhappy that the phones ‘so far’ are in the “might as well buy a mirror less camera” price range. Us ordinary folks need it for the cheaper phones like my Samsung A25 , this is why we use phones, because we don’t have the money for real cameras!
From Blackmagics point of view, it makes the most sense. The issue with Android is the huge variety in hardware. BM are likely starting with the most popular/most capable hardware currently, and will work backwards from there.
I thought bum and fanny were the same thing..?
Ermmm not quite. We use the term differently over here.
The name PYXIS. A mix of the words “pixel” and SIX if you look at the name backwards from the end, for 6k?
I will not forgive myself if I don't get out next year..
Yesssssss!!! You must. Grant told me he will disable your Studio license if you don't 😄
😂@@MrAlexTech
I still have my usta mini pro 12k.
Still going well?!
You said "fanny" pack 😅
Tehehehehe 😄
boop
Just give it a little... boop! 😄
their fusion demo crashed? I'm not surprised
NO. thank you
Yes please.
What are we talking about here!?! 🤣
@@MrAlexTech you thanking us but at the end of the day you deserve all the thanks
you shoulda told them to stop socializing and go back and fix all the infamous bugs that riddle DaVinci. it's ridiculous. go look at the forums to see for yourself. their code is old and broken and they can't fix anything so all they do is release new gimmicks
Nah! I think I'd rather enjoy socialising and talking to actual people.
